A few of the quality cod I caught along with the rinky dink fish that crew put in my bag for a limit. I don't even think I got a 10th fish!

Duped on a quality crab limit! I recently made a long drive up from southern California to do a crab/cod combo trip, hoping to come home with some decent sized crab and although I made that clear, deckhand Jonathan made certain that I got the smallest bag of crab limits when compared to the other passengers. As I handed him my bag to be filled, he gave me the bag of inferior crabs, while filling the bag I bought from the office with quality crab and giving it to another passenger. All the jumbo crab went into everyone else's bags and I got nothing but just legal crabs. Jonathan became irate when I made the observation that my bag had none of the nice sized crabs that everyone else(regular favorite customers, presumably) had in theirs, then he cussed me out and said that if I didn't want the crab, he would take them for himself. Hey D-bag, this customer is right and knows what decent crab are from a previous trip that I made back in January when I was allowed to select the crab bag I wanted and not accept what shitty bag a deckhand would ever hand me. The boat also didn't spend enough time fishing cod as we were back to the dock two hours earlier. The boat will keep every rockfish until limits are filled, even if they are only 5 inches long(hardly a meal). If I book out of Emeryville, it will be with another boat and hopefully with a crew that will distribute the jumbo crab equally and fairly.

Captain Al and deckhand Jonathan have brought me home with limits almost 2 times. I definitely recommend this boat. I I have not experienced rudeness or an issue with customer service. On the contrary, Jonathan was helpful, friendly, and kept everyone in our party baited. When lines got tangled he diligently untangled them. You will have a great time if you follow instructions, step aside when you see them running from fishermen to fisherman. Don't forget to tip.

Not condescending or chatty as his focus was on the rods with 10 people on the boat. Captain was also fishing but not for himself, handed over the rod to a guest who hasn't landed a fish. Appreciate the attempt at a less crowded spot, didn't work out and went back to where the party boats were. I believe we would have gotten our boats limit, but there were a few kids enjoying the experience and were not paying too much attention to their poles, but that's OK. Few missed opportunities, but that's fishing. I know numbers can impact the reputation of the boat without really knowing the context. I will look exclusively to make a trip with Diamond or Lady K. Other boats that I have been on had arrogant deck hands and not so friendly captains.

The great thing about DSF is that they provide all the gear necessary for your catch. We were going out for Tuna as Bluefin are now found in the waters off the west coast, we were all pretty excited to go fishing. All we brought with us was food and drinks, having everything else included was a bonus. In the event we caught anything, they'll cut, clean, gill and give us fillets. The boat ride was awesome, no one got seasick thank goodness, there's ample seating inside and out. It was super foggy in the early morning, but cleared up by the time we started. I've not been on a fishing boat prior to this trip, and I was blown away at how scenic and beautiful the water was out there. The bright sunshine gave the water a super bright blue appearance, it was cool. Captain Kyle and his deckhand got everyone rigged up and ready to fish. The Captain is youthful and took his time answering questions and giving advice. His mixture of humor and knowledge of where the fish were was certainly a bonus because as soon as lines were in the water we heard, " Fish On!" That first Tuna took everyone on board including my son Parker to reel it in ( Posted Picture). What a freaking rush. It was exciting watching as everyone reeled something in on the boat. We laughed, joked and had such a fun day out on the water with friends. On our way back in to harbor the Captain pointed out several whale pods swimming around the boat, it was a trip seeing them jump. We enjoyed our lunch and talked about who caught the biggest tuna. In all honesty, that first one was the biggest in my book. I can't say enough great things about Captain Kyle and his Diamond Sport Fishing. Reservations were easy as charters go out practically daily either 1/2 or full days. The waters off of California are changing, getting warmer, they're seeing Bluefin Tuna and Marlin so who knows, maybe our next trip we'll catch something epic! Overall Impression: A+

I've been out twice with the Sundance to catch salmon outside the bay. The boat leaves at 5:30…read moresharp and stays out until the limit of 2*6 was caught each time. The first time we were out 10 hours, the second about 5. The boat takes six fishermen and a crew of two. Captain CJ knows his stuff. Took us through 10ft swells outside the gate (the potato patch they call it) with the boat pitching nearly 90 degrees. Quite the ride on a rough day. All gear and bait are included and two 2lb sinkers. The sinkers drop when you hook the fish, and cost $7 each when you need more So I used 8 and paid $42 extra for six. No problem, but something to be prepared for. The mate and captain keep the rods baited and the boat trolling. Everyone gets great action. One guy pulled in a 24 lb salmon. Last trip I caught three keepers and two small ones we tossed back. Guys also caught five good sized mackerels also, which weren't counted as part of the 12 limit, so we wound up with three each. Everyone gets to pick their best two if they're over the limit and unlucky guys split the rest. The mate will fillet anything and you can keep any of it you want. Get a one-day fishing license for $17 at a bait shop before you go. $250 for the day. Parking passes inside at the business at the end of the road, the Sundance is on the second dock from the end. A great way to spend a day. Call months in advance - they book up fast. There's catch counts on the web page so you can see all the boats and how they're doing.

The ride takes you two hours out to sea past the GGB near the Faralon Islands where the awesome deckhands will take you to catch sanddabs first as bait for lingcod. I was able to hook up on some lings with the help of a very experienced friend but set my drag a bit too tight and lost the beast. We moved onto rockfish and easily caught limit with the help of great gear, great location, and great knowledge, all of which, you get from being on an awesome charter! Not only does the Seawolf crew know the best places to fish but they're also extremely friendly and helpful. They make rounds to check to make sure all of the patrons are well taken care of by helping untangle lines, offering to help tie lines on your behalf, going around and gaffing fish as they see you need help!
