The charter was clean & ready for us when we got there! Captain Javier Jerez & Ben were waiting for us before we even got there! After giving us the disclaimers, we headed towards the city. Javier & Ben were helpful, nice and welcoming! We had a wonderful time.

Fantastic experience, easy to book easy to find a skipper (they do it for you) and just all around great value. Will be going again!

This review is way over due! This past October, I contacted Passage Nautical via Yelp to do a private charter for my boyfriend's birthday. Heidi responded promptly to my email and gave me information that I needed to narrow down my choices. (I did call like 5 or 6 companies but Passage Nautical was most flexible and had most options within my price range and date/time needed.) Let me just get to the point. We had a fantastic day on the water with our friends!! I opted for the half day charger on a SeaRay500 - totally swanky and awesome! Just what we hoped for. We were allowed to bring food and drinks on board. (No red wine but that was ok with us.) Captain Nate and our skipper Taylor were super accommodating on the route and stopped whenever we asked them to. They took pictures for us, let us roam around the boat, and made sure we were safe and had a great time! Thank God no one fell overboard! There were lots of shenanigans and drinking on board so I was expecting someone to do something embarrassing! But alas, we all came back to dock safely. Seriously, I can't rave more about this experience. So much fun, and such a treat to be on the water in the Bay! Thanks Heidi, Capt Nate, Taylor and Passage Nautical!

I had a wonderful sailing experience with 11 friends for my 30th birthday!! The trip was easy to book with Billy and it was BYOB on the boat. Captain Barry did a fantastic job of taking us around SF and recommended a half hour earlier start time which helped us from not sailing in the dark closer to 6pm. Joey was really helpful, taking lots of photos of us and was a great team member on the Yacht. We definitely would use this company again!!

It was very easy to communicate with the owner, Eliot of Compass Rose Yacht Charter. He was willing to adjust the time of departure to our needs and it turned out perfect! Instructions were clear on where to park and our meeting place. We were greeted at the gate by a crew member and directed to the Voyager. The yacht is comfortable and clean and the cabin is spacious enough for our group of about twenty people. Captain Richard was very professional and the crew was friendly and helpful. There is a bar with coffee, tea, water and soft drinks. When we arrived at the designated scattering spot, the crew passed out flower petals to mark the site. Cheryl directed us where and how to scatter the ashes. We also brought a flower reef (created with paper tape), that was also tossed at the spot. The boat slowly circled the site several times, allowing us time for our final thoughts. Total time of our journey was about 1.5 hours, enough time for any speakers or formalities. The price was very reasonable, compared to other, more organized options. My friends and family all agreed and we highly recommend Compass Rose Yacht Charters.

We boarded around 6:30 after getting checked in. The bars opened at 6:30 (2nd and 3rd deck) so it seemed like a good first stop upon boarding. Buffet dinner of chicken, hand cut prime rib, sauteed vegetables, salad, lemon rice, and cheese cake started just after 7. I had 2 helpings and cleared my plate both times. Delicious. Back to the bars. Both had beer, wine and spirits. The upstairs bar had the good tequila as well as more premium spirits. Around 9:30 we were in position off the San Francisco waterfront to watch the fireworks. The open top deck was perfect for viewing. It was somewhat clear earlier I the evening but of course the fog rolled in just in time for the festivities. It was still a good show. The DJ was playing tunes all night on the 3rd deck but the dancing really started after the fireworks. The crowd was mixed but everyone was pleasant. The over zealous clean up crew decided to grab our drinks while dancing. The bar crew replaced them even when the bar was technically closed. Huge props to them. Will definitely do this again. Maybe for fleet week when the planes are flying.

The other levels were mainly designated to food and photobooths. The boat drove all the way past the golden gate bridge from Alameda and back. The views were spectacular but the cruise itself was just okay. Pros: - Amazing views from the deck as well as all areas inside the boat. Really loved the route it was on. - Lemon bars which were slightly too sweet but still delicious. - Friendly waiters who were always asking us if we wanted any drinks and clearing the plates. Cons: - No elevator so it was hard to climb up and down the stairs in a long ball gown. - The bathrooms were tiny, not poofy dress friendly. - The food is actually terrible. Think grapes with saucy chicken, I don't know who thought of this option. - The dance floor was on the 3rd floor and while people jumped, it seemed like the ceiling tiles were about to break on the 2nd floor. Overall okay experience. Should have spent more time looking at the views instead of eating the food.

Jan was very quick to reply, graciously answered all of my questions before booking, and remained in great communication throughout the entire process leading up to the date. Even when I had last minute changes of adding an additional person and pushing back the reservation time, Jan was very flexible and happy to accommodate. Prior to booking, I had seen a couple photos on Jan's website as well as photos posted by other reviewers, however, reality far exceeded my expectations. The catamaran is very roomy, plenty of space for our group of 6. Moreover, you can tell Jan keeps his catamaran well maintained--very clean! Upon realizing we were celebrating a birthday (I hadn't disclosed the purpose of this trip in our previously conversations), Jan was kind enough to gift us a ceramic bowl he had made (ceramics is his side hobby)! We took off from a dock in Richmond and brought the catamaran around Angel Island towards the Golden Gate Bridge, where we stopped and set up the sails until it was time to go back. Throughout the entire trip, Jan gave us our privacy--occasionally pointing out interesting sights on the water or along the coast. We spent half our time eating around the table, which has a roof and is opened to the outside, and half our time on the trampolines in the front of the boat. Although a bit chilly, since we went in the winter, being outside and sailing on water felt peaceful and serene! As someone that is gets carsick easily, I was apprehensive about seasickness, but the entire ride felt very smooth. Jan even pointed out the big waves beforehand so I felt prepared for any rocky motion. Moreover, none of the food/drinks we brought ever got close to spilling or sliding over the table since catamarans are so steady. Overall we all had an amazing time, and I would highly recommend sailing with Jan!

For…read more$150 per person it included drinks & some lite food and a view of the fireworks at the Golden Gate Bridge. I arrived at 6:55pm to find a line. It was confusing as there was also a line for the Yellow water taxi. Instructions were that loading was to begin at 7:30pm. I met these two cool ladies from Concord who let me stand in line with them. Standing in line was dangerous enough as there was uneven cobblestone with huge cracks just waiting to take an ankle out and mess up all your plans. If you wear heels beware. When I looked at the boat, I thought that's no yacht, that's a tugboat. We are now loading and this boat is two leveled. Some paid $25 extra for a reserved table. The ladies had a table outside. Great! Right? Not for them as we embarked on the sea. It got cold, windy but I loved it. I was bundled up with my Comfrt sweats which are super thick & my heavy Smoozy Koo blue coat I got in Chicago. I was set. These ladies ended up chilling inside as this was a booze cruise, a night club on the sea. The food was not free. I paid $25 for basically high school football concession food. Chicken Flautas (3) & Nachos. Not the hors-D Uvres (spelling) I expected. The restroom issue was the worst I heard. Like the line didn't move & one lady could not wait. Makes me think I should buy one of those travel pee funnels because you never know. Thankfully I didn't have to use the restroom. But get this, the lady who had the accident was given clean, dry pants to wear. What?! They have extra women's clothes to hand out? Now on to the firework show. The show started at 9:30pm and we were still racing trying to get out by the Golden Gate, or so I thought. We were way in the hell in San Pablo Bay and Carl the Fog was there to ruin the fireworks show. I thought we were going to be close like near Presidio. We got GOT! We were able to see other cities fireworks show in the distance and on the way back to Oakland. Honestly they should have done the fireworks from the Bay Bridge instead. Everyone around me was feeling like we got ripped off. Every time I saw a fancy yacht go by, we said, "There goes our Yacht." Just cruising by us with speed & elegance. Lol Funny enough, it was my and the group of ladies around me, first time doing this type of cruise firework adventure. We all had high expectations and realized why it costs $300 in San Francisco for a cruise line this on a nicer, bigger boat. I didn't have any mocktails because they didn't have a menu for one. I had a Paloma. The female bartender upstairs made that perfectly tangy. I left meeting four new ladies from the Bay all hoping to stay in touch. Thanks ladies for a fun night. Apparently Zack was hyper focused on them almost the entire time, moving their equipment around without asking, hovering over them, ordering them around, and even openly made fun of my partner for the noises he made while using the bathroom! This was obviously targeted as my partner had observed over the trip that no one else on the boat was being treated this way. A different crew member had actually noticed this as well and agreed with my partner about Zack's behavior. To me this is insanely unacceptable to have someone like this on a boat crew that hosts people. My partner was super excited for this trip, he spent a lot of money for him and his friends to go and put in a lot of effort to make the trip happen. It's not often he does stuff for himself and he was really looking forward to it. After he came home he was just about in tears talking about it. It really hurts to see someone you care about look so crushed. My partner is a kind, friendly, and respectful person and did not do anything to deserve this kind of treatment. I'm really disappointed and angry for him and his experience. Aside from that - his experience with the rest of the crew and Captain J was great. Thank you Captain J for hearing him out afterward. I strongly recommend getting rid of this guy before he messes things up for your business and continues to hurt people. It's complete BS for this kind of thing to happen to not just a respectful paying customer but someone who didn't do anything but be black. Come on.
