This is an authentic, clean Mexican restaurant. Carne Asada and Pollo Chalupas are made with homemade grilled tortillas, onion, cilantro, cheese, and were very good. Carne Asada Chalupa was favorite. Homemade salsa verde was very good. They also make Salsa Rojas, which is spicier. Tortilla soup was served hot. Avocado in soup and broth were good. I've had many go to street tacos spots over the years - in NYC, Jersey City, Bridgewater NJ, etc...and boy do I wish I live near this place!! This was my first time coming here. I was a little skeptical about this place, when me and my friend came here we were a bit surprised with the prices for the tacos and everything, I got the guava agua Fresca with was a 10/10 tasted fresh and was made in house. We both got tacos and we were both blown away with them, 9.5/10 for the beef tongue and carnitas. We also got the torta with spicy pork and it was a 8/10. Best tacos around. They have a full menu but I get 2 chicken and 1 carnitas taco for lunch every week. Salsa Verde is fresh with herbs and citrus. Not spicy. The red sauce is spicy. I get both. Their homemade mole sauce is great on the tamales. read more

My first impression of this place was that is was sticky, humid, greasy. Not a good ambience. I don't like fighting off flies for my lunch. Service was good, prompt, and responsive. We went there at 8pm on a Sunday. It was almost dead because they were closing in an hour but we had just been moving furniture all day and needed somewhere to eat. The server was friendly, restaurant is cute and very clean. The order started with complimentary chips and salsa, specifically 2 types of salsa. You could tell the chips were made fresh in-house. I ordered a mango milkshake that came in a GIGANTIC cup, like enough for me and my friend to share. And that whole thing was less than $4! My meal was the 3 tacos with different meat combo. I got pork, beef, and chicken (classic American lol) it was DELICIOUS. Please go see the picture I took. My friend got this meat combo thing with all types of different grilled meats. Everything was cooked perfectly, no meat was dry or undercooked. The rice and beans and veggies were fresh and seasoned well. The quantity was plentiful and the prices were affordable. What an enjoyable experience! We stopped in around 7pm on a Saturday and were seated immediately. The nice lady asked if we preferred a table or booth. Our server, a kind man who graciously answered our questions, also told us a little about the history and origins of their Mexican dishes in comparison to other local places like Fiesta Ole. He never once said a bad word about them even when we said we didn't care for the way they smother everything with sauces. We started with a tamale which was piping hot and very authentic. I ordered the 3 taco deal ($10.99 vs. 9.99 because I switched up the meats). I got the carnitas, the marinated pork and the salted beef (my fave). The marinated pork was good but a little too spicy for my intolerant stomach. The side 'salad' of radishes and cucumber were crisp and refreshing! The server accommodated my request for no onions and flour shells instead of corn, although he kind of rolled his eyes because it's not the 'traditional' way to eat it. :) He gave me a slice of cactus on the side (free of charge),because I was curious to try it. My husband got the shrimp burrito and enjoyed it. The lettuce was fresh and the whole thing was flavorful. Our bill was $24. The atmosphere was relaxed, clean and pleasant. Wanted to try somewhere new and stumbled upon Tijuana's. The inside is cozy and has a "Mexican" theme which adds to the authenticity. The first thing I noticed was how clean it was. The prices seemed great until we got our food which at that point, the prices were excellent. Everything we ordered came with generous portions. I've read some comments about slow service, which I did notice. To that I would like to say that any authentic Mexican restaurant I've been to had what felt like slow service. This is due to the food being freshly made. I will take the slower service over fast service with food that tastes reheated. read more

YOU MUST GO HERE!! We found this place on yelp while passing through Allentown for the night and I'm amazed. It's in the end of this little plaza so we honestly didn't expect much just from seeing it from the street. I'm not exaggerating when I say that I just ate the BEST steak fajitas I've ever had in my life!! The steak was so tender and flavorful and the peppers/onions were fresh and yummy. They also had delicious homemade chips and salsa (we careful, the red one is very hot!) My fiancé had the carne asada enchilada and practically licked his plate clean. We didn't have any room for dessert sadly, but it looked amazing in the glass case. I only wish we did not live 9 hours away or I'd be in here all the time! Seriously do not miss this place! PS: after I wrote this review I read the others including "E's" who tore this place up. Mind boggling but apparently he doesn't like many places after reading his mostly 1 and 2 star review profile. BOTTOM-LINE: Not great. I'll make this quick... CHICKEN TACOS: Dry little pieces of chicken that I swear are Steak-Um-type frozen meat. Lots of it, but dry with little flavor. Corn tortillas were soft and nice though. GUACAMOLE: Super fresh and great color, but little more than mashed avocados. No cilantro, onions nor flavor. Tasted good for just plain avocados, but don't call it guacamole. CHIPS: Hard and flavorless. SALSAS: The green is good. The red is acidic and pretty bad. REFRIED BEANS: More accurately called "Bean Liquid." The runniest bowl of "beans" I've ever seen. Not the typical thick consistency you'd expect. I had to literally strain it with a fork to gather up tiny little flecks of solids. It's not that it tasted bad... it's just more liquid than mashed beans. Really disappointing. MEXICAN RICE: Good. ATMOSPHERE: Harsh lighting and tile floor that needs replacement. Nothing to write home about. SERVICE: Pleasant enough and attentive, but untrained in handling customer dissatisfaction. If you don't intend to DO something about it, don't ask your customers, "How is everything?" If a customer expresses dissatisfaction, don't just say, "Oh well--some like it, some don't." If all you want to hear are compliments, you're better off not asking. It's both positive AND negative feedback that can help you grow, improve and build your business. Tijuana Tacos is located in a lackluster strip mall on Lehigh Street in Emmaus. We have ordered take out and dined in at the location. It is without question a more authentic style of Mexican food than what is readily available in the general Emmaus area. During our various visits we have had the chicken tacos, bean sopes, mexican salad, chicken flautas, guacamole, and a bean and cheese burrito. Overall the food is very tasty, always hot, and fresh tasting. The tacos, sopes, and flautas have been consistently good. The tacos are the more traditional style with chicken, onions, and cilantro. The flautas have been very crunchy and flavorful. On a side note, the chips are not great. They are way too crunchy, boarding on hard. The salsas are also not particularly great but the guacamole is very creamy and flavorful. it is nice to have a more authentic spot in the Emmaus area but this location would not be my first or second choice for Mexican food in the Lehigh Valley. read more

I placed a pickup order this evening. I got beef enchiladas with mole sauce. It was good, but they gave me two entrees and charged me for both. I only asked for one, and the woman who took the order didn't mention the second one when she repeated the order back to me. I wasn't too upset about that, though. I'll take the other to work for lunch tomorrow. My wife ordered a taco salad with extra cheese and sour cream. They forgot the sour cream. It came with cucumber, though, which everyone in my family hates. It was cut up into tiny pieces, so it rendered the salad inedible to us. There's no mention of cucumber in the description of the salad. I called and ordered a replacement and went to pick it up. They charged me for it, which I was a little irritated about, but I understand that it isn't easy to keep a restaurant afloat during a pandemic. I got the salad home and found that, while they did remember to leave out the cucumber, they forgot the meat and the cheese. It was just lettuce, tomato and onion in a tortilla bowl, and it cost me ten bucks. Now I was angry. I called again, and told them I wanted my money back for the second salad. They refused, offering a credit instead. I'll never go there again, so I guess I just paid twenty bucks for two servings of garbage. The rest of the food was okay, I guess, but I'll still never eat there again. read more

Tijuana Tacos is hands down the best Mexican Restaurant in the Lehigh Valley. My favorite food is the Cemita Cubana. The Cemita bread is very close to the original one from Puebla México. They portions are very generous and the mix of flavors from all the ingredients is amazing. I also love Tacos de Cabeza and Tacos de Lengua. You can make two tacos out of each taco with how much meat they have. I once tried Milanesa de Pollo and liked lot too. The Milanesa was not too thin and properly fried. In other restaurants they tend to be too thin and over fried making them chewy and tough to eat. Service has always been excellent. read more
