I had gone in again to give it a second chance, the first time wasn't bad but it' wasn't great either -- my main complaint being how watery the curry was. I tried it again and it was the same kind of texture and flavor. The place itself is not a bad place, the people there are actually really nice and it's fast service. However, I wouldn't recommend as your first option. It's a little flavorless honestly but the rice and paneer were good.

What a cool idea. Tikka shack is comparable to chipotle, only Indian. They have different spice levels. my food was creamy and flavorful. They were out of an item that I was interested in when I was there. It wasn't busy for dinnertime. It's located uptown and service is fast. This is nice for a weeknight family dinner.

Yeah, I had high hopes. I had to come back. I ordered the Tikka Chicken and a side of Samosas. While I drove home, I devoured the Samosas. They were delicious. They were huge, flaky, dense, moist, and packed full of flavor. Honestly, I had never had a better Samosa. The potatoes were mashed with seasoning instead of being cubed or chopped. I had never had it like that. I was excited as I drove, as I reside 25 minutes away. I got home, and they had given me someone else's food. It was Butter Chicken. OK, NO problem. I'll try it. However, it was flat. I mean no flavor or spice. In all fairness, it wasn't what I ordered, and it was intended for someone else. Maybe it was how they ordered it. The next day, I took my order back. I had 2 spoonfuls. I wasn't given any pushback. They promptly replaced my Tikka at no cost. I showed them the bag with a different name. In addition, I ordered 2 orders of Samosas and a Lassi. I got home, and it was the same thing. It had a tomato base, but no spice or flavor. It was very soupy. I was shocked. I am only surprised because I work in banking and all my coworkers are Indian. Their Tikka is bomb; I mean, lip-smacking delicious. unfortunately and unrealistically, I expected the food to be comparable. It was not. Then I realized they make this for the masses. I was very disappointed. However, the staff is very polite. It's clean and vibrant inside, but for someone who loves authentic cuisine, this was subpar. If you want to tiptoe and try Tikka without jolting your palette, it's a start.

A nice fast casual Indian restaurant in Uptown Charlotte so parking here is tough. This is a more of a grab and go spot but there is plenty of seating inside. The food is more modern Indian cuisine so not your traditional Indian food. They do have the classics like butter chicken, tikka masala, and samosas on their menu that you can order but they also have wings, fries, and other American favorites with an Indian twist. The staff is nice, and food does come out quickly. Overall, a good spot to try if you are looking for Indian food.

It was my first and it will be my last time at this place..I ordered panner tikka pizza. The pizza was half cooked with raw onions and tomatoes on top of the pizza. The food and service was terrible. I don't recommend this place..

Ambiance - toilet cannot be used message Not able to make tikka, reason will take too long. This was the first visit to this shop. Disappointed to not order any chicken. Order placed at 2:02 pm, served at 2:11. There were no customers tea with no sugar was not available. Service was in paper envelope. Napkin was not provided Food average. We ate samosas

Love grabbing a quick lunch here during the work week. The chicken kebab bowl is always great and same goes for the garlic naan! This is a fast food style indian restaurant so service is quick. The chicken kebab bowl comes with tikka sauce on the side which I find to be a wonderful addition. The sauce is served warm and tastes great.

Thought the dishes lacked your typical bold, Indian flavor and the curry was a little liquidy. Tasted a little like what I'd expect from cafeteria food. The garlic naan, which more like a toasted pita, was sub par. The food did come out pretty quick and there was tons of seating. I also appreciated their bottled Indian beer selection. Unless you're looking for a quick bite with a group that doesn't have high Indian food standards, I'd pass.

Had a craving for something Indian and came across Tikka Shack while walking around. Across the street from a park area, doesn't appear to have street parking around but there are lots to park in nearby. Set up inside similar to typical quick order businesses. They have tables/chairs to eat in as well. One cashier to order from, they have the menu on 3 large TVs above the cash register and have some physical menus to look at and order from too. They have biryani, curries, naans, even a Tikka pizza for food options. Some dessert options and drinks too. Prices appeared decent, can build your own curry order and ranged from $10 and up. Went with the samosa appetizer, 2 samosas for $5 and comes with a small sauce for dipping. You can pay cash or card. While the cashier was friendly, it took almost 15 minutes for the samosas to be made. At one point I saw an employee call out asking why the samosas were taking so long. People that came after me were going in and out with food, and larger orders of food than what I made. The samosa had a nice crunch to them, but they were sweeter in flavor than I would have preferred. Not sure if I would return to try other options.

Been here a few times and have enjoyed the food. I typically get the tikka masala kabobs which are served over rice. I really like the naan too. Service is quick and the staff is always friendly. There's plenty of seating inside and it appears to be clean which is appreciated. Prime location in uptown, if you're in the area, stop in!

I'm sorry, but no. I saw a lot of professionals with to-go boxes of Indian food that all looked similar so I had to know where it was from because I love Indian food. I loved the concept of the menu- fast Indian food with cool variations like naan quesadilla, naan pizza, etc. I was super excited to try it too and the restaurant was a clean, cute, fast food looking Indian spot. The person at the front who took my order was nice and quick, and there was a huge line to the back wall when I got in. Sadly, I would never eat here again and I didn't finish even a third of my food. I can see why some people who don't like spicy or super seasoned food would like this... but it is extremely Americanized and watered down. If you're actually a fan of indian food I wouldn't go here. I got the tikka pizza and butter masala. It tasted like rice with flavorless sauce and meat. The pizza tasted the same. I felt like not even a tablespoon of salt was used. I'm highly disappointed and giving it 2 stars for the clean restaurant, fast and efficient service, simple and unique menu, affordable prices, and for the fact that it is a hot spot for people on their work break. It just wasn't for me and I don't even like to judge food too hard.

Uptown has seen a large influx of Indian restaurants over the years especially since the end of Covid and the return of the office workers. While some of them operate as smaller cafeteria style options where you move down the line and tell them what you want, Tikka Shack is more of a fast casual type restaurant with a set menu. Some of the criticisms I've seen are that it is less authentic and I can certainly understand that point of view, but I still have to give them credit as they are efficient, consistent, and their food is quite tasty especially their garlic naan. I also enjoy their selections of fresh juices and soft drinks. The restaurant is clean and modern and upon ordering from the counter they will give you a number and bring your food out to the table. They offer some fusion type dishes including chicken wings and naan pizza, but I like to stick to the basics and order from their build your own curry menu. You choose the style of curry you want from a wide range of spice levels (you can request that they make it hotter if you are a fan of spice), then you choose the protein you'd like. It all comes served on a bed of basmati rice and you can finalize your meal with some delicious naan bread. Overall I really enjoy their menu concept, the taste of the food, and the portions provided. I think this makes a great lunch spot.

Got the mango chicken bowl. Ate 1-2 pieces of chicken before realizing the chicken had a strange texture and was infact undercooked. Gave the rest of the bowl to my dog. The restaurant wasn't busy at all so I'm perplexed as to why the quality is lacking.

Not a bad lunch spot. Butter masala with chicken was ok if the chicken wasn't so dry. Good price for a place in uptown.

Immediately, I liked how the place had a nice, comfy vibe with good A/C and great, relaxing overhead music. The hostess was also on top of things, in that she read the reservation notes, and led us to a choice seat by the wall. The waiter assigned to us was very attentive and courteous. So all around, I felt the ambiance and service was very good. Now the food! We decided to share everything and ordered various items: Garlic Naan, Pakora Brussels Sprouts, Chicken Biryani and Nalan Chicken Curry, which came with white rice. Of everything ordered, my favorite was the Biryani. First of all, the portion was HUGE...enough to feed 4. I liked the long grain rice, and the flavor was good. I was a bit puzzled by the presentation though. All the chicken was buried underneath. Also, way too much onion garnishing on top...which I didn't find appetizing or aesthetically pleasing either. Think I would have liked this better if some veggies were included (not just the onions...possibly my least favorite veggie?). This has been my running criticism with Indian foods... I appreciate the flavors, but I don't like how the tasty veggies are rarely included (or barely visible!) in the entrees. We both enjoyed the Garlic Naan (just wished there were a bit more?), and Brussels Sprouts had a good flavor, but the batter was so hard and thick, it was hard to eat (could barely use the fork for this). So frankly, I didn't love the texture of this fried veggie appetizer. As for the Chicken Curry, I just didn't love the flavor. It was very different though. In the past, I always opted for Chicken Tikala...and I definitely prefer the more buttery flavor of that over this special curry. Guess I liked some of the foods...but not all. Despite being underwhelmed with some of the foods, we still enjoyed the overall dining experience here...and would likely return. I think I'll be trying other items on the menu though.
