I really enjoyed our dinner at Copper. It's a cute spot in a classic historical Dilworth house converted restaurant. The menu is limited but had good variety. We started with the fried cauliflower appetizer which is one of their most popular dishes. It was delicious but the size was so small it was barely enough for two people. Definitely left me wanting more! For our main course we split the Chicken Tikka and the prawn curry. We were a little worried about the spice level, but they were both fine! What a great experience to go to an upscale Indian restaurant and still feel like I'm having authentic food. I really enjoy this experience. Food was excellent and Service was good. It took me far too long to try this restaurant and o was finally able to rectify that mistake this past weekend. I came in on Friday night with a group of four of us for a fun double date night. Now I have been enjoying Indian food for years, but typically this is in the form of lunch buffets, or take out spots around Uptown. I have grown to love it, but I had never been into a sit down full service restaurant for it so I was very excited for this new dining experience. The restaurant is gorgeous and located in a historic Dilworth home along East Boulevard. The lighting is low creating an intimate night out vibe. The restaurant was quite busy, but luckily we had reservations and were able to take our table after a brief wait. The other couple with us were regulars and knew what to order so we trusted their recommendation for the spicy cauliflower appetizer. We got an order for the table, and they weren't lying it was delicious! Their entrees are all served with rice which comes on the side, and we decided to order some garlic naan as well. Once they bring out your meal you can set your plate how you like! I decided to try something I've never had before and went with the Dheemi Aanch KA Gosht. It comes with braised lamb with masala dust and simmered in what they describe as a browned onion sauce. I am glad I was feeling adventurous, the lamb was wonderful and had such a unique flavor profile along with the perfect amount of spice. Trying new cuisines can be intimidating, but I always try to get my friends to venture out and try new dishes. Murgh Tikka Masala (5/5): SO GOOD! Very creamy with well balanced flavor (and non of the spices I don't like). The chicken was also very tender. Medium spice was perfect for me. My favorite Tikka Masala so far! Goan Prawn Curry (4/5): A fairly mild sauce that was quite sweet and had a bit too much coconut flavor for me. I still liked it though. I took my newly wed friends here as they said that this place was a restaurant that had been on their list. I'm glad we got the recommendation to come here. I made a reservation like a month in advance, but I don't think it's really needed. The place was kind of empty at the time we got there on a Friday night so I think it just depends. They try to set the mood here, but I think what ultimately happens is that people need to get their cell phones out and use flashlights to see the menu. Maybe it's just me getting old and not being able to have night vision with my eyes. Anyways, let's get onto the food. For appetizers, we shared a samosa. It was alright, nothing crazy or special though. i would say that the presentation was nice, but other than that eh. For my main, I ordered the Dheemi Aanch Ka Gosht. It was a soupy saucy kind of dish. Very well seasoned, as I expect from Indian cuisine and I would say it was spicy as well. So I would definitely recommend to order a side of garlic naan with the dish as that naan would soak all that sauce up and it elevates the dish. Overall, Copper is great if you're looking for a upper scale dimly lit date night Indian restaurant. The food has great flavors and would make a wonderful second meal out of the leftovers with rice or naan to sop up all the flavors if you decide to get a curry. The amount of food was good as well. Unfortunately, I don't recall the names of all the dishes as one of our party members, who is very familiar with Indian cuisine, did the ordering for us. The only critique I have is that the rice was served last, which made it tricky to enjoy the curries as they were brought out. It would have been great to have the rice earlier to better pair with the sauces. That said, the rice itself was good--light and not overly sticky. Very fun and delicious dinner! This was seemingly a flipped house with a lot of charm and seating in different rooms throughout the home. We started our meal with chaat, samosa and harissa shrimp. The appetizers were all different and I liked the modern spin to the chaat. It was served on a thick crunchy chip. The harissa shrimp was delicious and had tamarind sauce along the dish, which added a nice touch. We also had the stuffed naan (too cheesy & similar to a quesadilla) for dinner we shared the seafood medley - delicious and super flavorful, but not overly sweet. We also had a brown onion lamb dish. This place is amazing! Lunch was only around $16 for Chicken Tikka Masala. The lunch portion comes with tomato soup to start and the Tikka Masala comes with huge portions of naan and rice. GREAT EXPERIENCE! We came here for my partner's birthday, and I would say it was a success! The location is very pretty, in an older house that has been transformed into a restaurant. We sat in a room by a window with just a few other tables. There was also a parking lot, and it's pretty close to the East/West light rail station. We ordered drinks, which were both delightful, and an appetizer to start off. I had never had chaat before, but I will definitely be ordering it again. We picked the chicken tikka (classic) and the black dal. Both were easy to share, and I could not choose a favorite. Really yummy! As it was a birthday celebration, we received a little dessert. This historic house which is now an Indian restaurant offers an interesting atmosphere. The indoor views were splendid, though it felt like the exterior could have used a new coat of paint. The menu has some distinctive items. My salad was extra crisp, but also really delivered on flavors with balls of goat cheese, apricots, and a peppery dressing making it clear this was an Indian salad. For an entree, I went for their traditional black dal, and added an aachari paratha. The dal was rich, and the bread, which is cooked with the spices they use for pickling vegetables, was an interesting and distinctive contrast. I was surprised they didn't seem to offer much in terms of non-alcoholic drink options (their wine list was certainly extensive). Loved this place!!! The restaurant is so cute; I think they converted an old house into the restaurant, so it's absolutely huge. I would say that the appetizers were a bit lack-luster. We ordered the disco bhatura and the cauliflower florets. The bhatura was just full of too much cheese and needed a lot more seasoning to compensate for that. The cauliflower was well fried, but it came out cold, and I absolutely hated the sauce that they put on top. While the appetizers were a miss, the entrees were all incredible. The tikka masala was delicious. We asked for everything to be spicy, and they delivered. Maybe some of the best chicken tikka masala I've had. The daal was actually the best daal I've had at an Indian restaurant in the US; it was comparable to the daal you get in India (or what my mom makes!). I couldn't stop eating it. We also ordered the paneer kadhai masala, which was also delicious, but a little bell pepper heavy. The star of the show was the dessert. We split the rabadi, which had blocks of Indian ice cream and a puff pastry that was filled with indian spiced carrots. DELICIOUS! My first time at Copper, celebrating a friends birthday! There's a parking lot on the side (there were still a few spots available at 6:30pm on a Sunday) and street parking if needed. They were extremely busy! Waited a bit for a host to come out, but once they did we were seated for our reservation right away! All of the staff was so friendly and very prompt with refilling water, which we thoroughly appreciated. Meals come with rice, naan costs extra if you are wanting it. The tikki masala was delicious! I have not been here in several years because the food seemed "Americanized" to me. In my opinion, the sauces are much better than the last time I came. The only negative I found was their hesitancy in giving you spicy food. When I ordered, I told the waiter I had been to India and I'd like it as spicy as he would eat it. I ordered chicken korma at a level 6 and he told me the Goa shrimp were already spicy and wouldn't give me the option to make it spicier. Needless to say, I was extremely disappointed in the goa shrimp. It was so bland I could not eat it. One of the gals at the table had also ordered it who is not a big spice person and even she said it wasn't spicy. I had to ask the waiter to bring chili paste. He brought a large ramkin of chili paste and I used 3/4 of what I was given. THAT is how bland it was ! The sauce to my chicken korma was pretty good at level 6. The sauce was tastey and I enjoyed it. However, the chicken itself was dry and obviously made separately from the sauce and then thrown in to save time. I would never get this again for that reason. In fact, I would hesitate to get any chicken dishes here wondering if they have done the same with all of them to save time. When you do this, the chicken itself never gets the moisture and flavor of the sauce. One person got the saag paneer and said it was excellent. One gal got a fried potato dish with sauce and we all agreed it was the best. read more

One of my families favorite places to go in south end. We have yet to have a bad appetizer or meal. Their menu is compact, and brimming with flavor. We have had items from vegetarian to lamb and chicken and we have not been disappointed. The naan is phenomenal and supports the dishes wonderfully. We found Copper a quaint restaurant nestled in the Southend neighborhood of Dillworth in an old bungalow home. We loved the setup and it was perfect for a night out. Started with drinks at the bar. Bartender was informative and helped my wife craft a cocktail she had had at another restaurant. Love that personal touch. Got called for our reservation that we maid using Open Table and were seated on time. Wait staff was super busy, but made just the right amount of contact in my opinion. Water glasses were filled often, staff did a great job, on to my three things: 1) Samosas are huge! They also have quite a kick of flavor/spice so beware if your sensative to spice. I loved them my wife's eyes might have been watering. 2) Dont be afraid to go veggie dish here. Lentils are the bomb and all of the dishes portions are plenty for a fill up. Naan bread was good, seasoned correclty, but on the smaller size. Might need 2 if you like naan. 3) The curry's were spot on, creamy, and just enough kick that you can tell they pick the right quality of spices. Murgh Tikka 8/10 by the wife and Lamb Kozhambu 9/10 by me! I have found my new spot. We already picked out the dishes for our next visit. That is a pretty good sign of a great menu! read more

I can't emphasize enough how much I love Copper Modern! I have been a few times and just got around to trying their lunch special. My friend and I went around 1:00pm on a Thursday for lunch and were sat immediately. I opted for the Goan Curry and added chicken. This dish is a little spicy but the coconut flavor of the curry is to die for. The lunch special includes soup or salad, your dish, and a side of rice and garlic naan for the table. I honestly could eat this once a week. The staff is extremely polite and helpful if you don't know what their dishes are. Can't wait to go back. read more
