This place was a nice little getaway tucked away on top of the hills in El Cerrito. It has a humongous play / Park area with multiple slides, multiple Bridges, and mouth on the couch for kids to climb and play on. It surprised me how large the entire park was to begin with. What Caught me off guard there was a huge Park for baseball, soccer, and doing a lot of outdoor activities it's, dating for people who want to have picnics in the park, as well as throw Park parties. I'm very impressed with this location because it's also in a very calm and beautiful neighborhood in El Cerrito. This isn't the type of park that would attract people from afar but I think you might try it once. Don't let the locals have all the fun. When i saw this yuuge flat field carved into the side of the hill I could only think of the cost and effort to create it. I've shoveled some soil to level things in my own back yard and this is very heavy work. Baseball or soccer field is the main attraction. There weren't really many people here, but there seem to be residents to seem to like to walk around here. I can literally see SF and some bridges from here, but it's quite far compared to other marinas like the one from San Leandro and Emeryville. I also like how the sidewalks are created here. They seem to do a good job at creating them. This park is connected with the San Francisco Bay Trail. So if you want, you can visit other areas around here using that trail.

It's beautiful and people are pretty respectful of distance. I've run here (very few times), walked here (many times) and I just feel calm. There's a lot of bird crap on the ground, so you have to be mindful of where you step, but there was so much history here and I still stop to read the kiosks. I remember visiting with my sister here a few years ago and she loved it. And like me (turned three out here), a lifelong Richmond resident and she had never heard of this place. My mom probably hadn't heard of it, because she would take us to SF or Oakland for events, and this place was in our backyard. The only gripe for me is that it is soooo far away from the city, city. But that's just me. I wish it were easier to access. But that's a "rich person's problem" and really not a reason to lose stars. What draws me to this place is that I've walked in a lot of places and the experience is nothing like this. I come away from my walks feeling rather soothed and much calmer for having been there. The main thing that I have to be careful of is walking too far and having to lumber back over a longer distance than expected. Again, a "rich person's problem" that says more about me than about this space. I'm just glad that it's here and that we can enjoy it!

This is a big park right on the water with amazing views. Most of the park is flat with lots of picnic grounds, including barbecues, but it also extends up into the hills behind the park with hiking trails. Weekends can be crowded with lots of large families and groups occupying the picnic grounds. They have been doing some work replanting grass so it's going to be looking better really soon. Also there are a lot of early morning walkers, I do it and say hello to the s as me people
