I have a 2007 FJ Cruiser. I'm moving to the PNW and wanted to get some beefy mods and blackout…read morepaint done before I leave the tax free state of Montana. I priced out other local options at 4x4 shops and was basically just getting totally ripped off with their estimates. When I found Kyle at M1 Customs he gave me a quote on doing all my black trim in Scorpion Liner and the quote was so good I asked if he'd do some custom mods for me too. He ended up doing my M1 Smittybilt bumper with off-road lights, a Badlands winch, an awesome grill insert with additional off-road lights, Fender flairs and aftermarket Halo headlights. Plus he Scorpion Lined the white roof on the FJ + all trim in black. To finish he installed 4 beautiful hood scoop mini lights in the small hood grill. I mean this guy even helped me find the best deals online for the mods I wanted. He let me order my own parts, and had them shipped to his shop, literally saving me tons of money, like hundreds of dollars compared to the other local 4x4 businesses. Other 4x4 shops were trying to force me to order through them . For example the bumper was over $400 more ordering through them. This is a hard working man building his vehicle customization business and I'd say he's going to be very successful. His work is fantastic and I'm pretty sure he can beat any price in Gallatin Valley and beyond. Whether it's a hot rod, a 4x4 or your daily driver if you want an honest, reasonable, affordable dude to get your ride done exactly how you dreamt it should be done, Kyle at M1 Customs is your guy! I wish I could take him to the west coast with me! His communication was nothing short of epic. Every text responded to, every phone call answered. Updated pics sent daily. He even lent me a vehicle to use while mine was being done. I highly, highly recommend him. You'll be happy AF too. OMFG I got my FJ back today. All modded out. Getting the new rims slapped on tomorrow. Amazing! It literally looks like a giant Tonka Toy. Thank you Kyle, M1 Customs Rocks.

When I first received the truck I knew it needed some work. The first thing I did was contact Dark…read moreHorse. They said they could easily take this project on and we're happy to do so! I purchased all the necessities for them to do the work. Every single part, bolt and screw, brand new from a 3rd party source. I had dark horse install an ac system, pac brake and 200A alternator. Installation of the three took 11 days (May 3rd-may 23rd). I paid over $7000 for the installation of the three. When I went to the shop to pick it up I was stoked! I went to start up the truck but right away turn it off because something sounded weird! Hopped out of the truck and there was a giant puddle of black engine oil underneath! Turns out the Shoptek forgot to bolt on the oil line leading to the turbo. This caused a big mess! After this was bolted on and oil topped off, I drove it home. I did notice that the engine break actually wouldn't slow me down that much. I notice a oil leak coming from where the AC compressor had been mounted to the engine. I also noticed after a few days the AC would stop blowing cold air! We also had a strange voltage drop. Basically the three things they worked on were all screwed up! On October 11 the truck went back to the shop! On October 13 I came to the shop to find the roof rack half assembled on the truck. I noticed it was taking a little bit longer than what they quoted and asked if they could stay under a certain budget of $6000 ish. They agreed to this and said that they could definitely do it for $6000 or less! I was stoked! On this visit I also noticed that they were welding with the windshield uncovered! This was a real bummer! I knew for a fact that they were splattering all over the windshield and the windows. On October 21 so I paid for the truck and received it back. Total cost of the rack and bumpers was over $8500!!!! $2500 over what he had quoted me! His excuse was " this wasn't his first rack" and "he wasted a lot of material on version one and two" (fabrication shop manager talking about one of the employees who built the rack). Why would I have to pay for this?!? This was his mistake, and I have to pay for it? Without too many questions I payed the bill and left. Right out of the gate I realize the voltage problem, Engine brake and ac problem we're not fixed! I took the truck back. The main AC guy used a smart little tool to find a leak in the system. The leak was originally in the head unit. He sealed the leak and recharged the system. After he found two more leaks!!!!! This took a while! I started to get pretty angry and also noticed some more problems. The rack was built like garbage, wires were melted, Windows were pitted from welding, lights were painted over, and the oil leak was awful! I turn the truck right around and headed back to Dark Horse. I took that head of the fabrication shop part of dark horse for a ride. He was baffled. He had also let me know that the person who had worked on the truck was fired. He could not believe all of the bad work that have been done. I asked him "would you pay for this?" He replied "absolutely not". Once we got back The head of the fabrication shop grabbed one of the higher ups. He was not happy! He said I should be happy with when I have received. He noticed the wheel leak and together we found a missing bolt. This caused the engine to vibrate and break the front timing cover seal. He told me that if that bolt wasn't missing that he would have fought me and made me for repairs!!!! He also told me that he had had attached the pac brake/engine brake to transmission correctly. I know for a fact that this is false now. I had to talk to the owner of Darkhorse. March 24 I went to start the vehicle and realize that there was a good amount of water in the cab.... The roof rack that Dark Horse installed had leaked water directly into the electrical system of the truck. It screwed up so much stuff! It took five days but is able to fix most wiring and I had to replace a lot the electrical panels and fuses! On March 28 they took off the refract and fixed the the leaks. We kept the roof rack off so they could improve the Quality of the rack. They kept the rack until June 17th. Add this point in time I was furious! I drove a service truck with a crane to Dark Horse picked up the roof rack and put it on the back of the truck. That night we installed the roof rack and it only took us three hours Not three months! I made sure that I owed Dark Horse absolutely no money. They charge me over $900 for something I don't even know! Absolutely ridiculous!
