BEWARE! Had a reservation there and called 16 days in advance due to family emergency we have to go back home for. They not only refused a deposit on our refund but said they would also charge $40 for a cancellation fee. What kind of service is this? We all have emergencies, even them! read more

It used to be so nice to come unplug at Timberlake Campground on the reservoir. It's close to home, we could get to work more easily because of its location. No more though.There are literally people riding around in golf carts everyday telling you what you're doing wrong. (Wrong = parking your boat in the grass next to your camper, placing small "happy camper" signs next to your pad, parking a vehicle next to the pad when there's not a place on the pad, no satellite dish in the grass, etc.) Since nothing can go in the grass, EVERYTHING has to be on the pad. This means there is almost zero room for your rug, chairs, grill, satellite, watercraft, table, garbage can. Are you getting my point? We can't even play a game of cornhole! There's no room, and you can't put it in the grass. The men and women that are having to knock on camper doors to tell you you're doing it wrong, they HATE doing it. Unfortunately they have to follow the rules too. We understand that and we aren't upset with them. We are upset with the small group of men and women that changed these rules this year, and we will not be back at Timberlake as a result. That's a shame too. We used to love it here! Broken concrete pads, no wifi, no cable, office staff not friendly, restrooms and showers from the 70's. Very outdated campground for the prices they are asking. There is a new area of pads near the front entrance but every one of them looks uneven and not level. There is a pool. Basketball goal and very small tent camping area. Roads are not marked well for directions, site numbers are very small. If arriving at night, good luck. Many sites are under pine trees. It appears they may have an idea to fix things but never finished. Would not recommend. read more

They don't tell you the rules. In fact, they don't really know the rules. Anytime they quote rules it is different than the last time. Debbie runs the office, she is clueless. Favoritism is everywhere. There are lists for everything, long term renting, monthly, and even another list for waterfront, which takes years to get. Convenient to much if u like being watched as if in a concentration camp. Poor management. Also they don't care if there is mud at your pad. They just tell you you're not allowed to fix it. Anytime a repair of anything is needed they just shut it down and take weeks before beginning to fix it. read more

The campground is beautiful, check in after hours is not as easy as the lady said and when u get there they have 2 maps that don't go together... our site was full hook up, couldn't dump, the sewer inlet was broken, and when I said something she had NO IDEA.... read more

We got in right before after hours. I had called ahead of time and was told that any spot without cones were spots that were available to park in. Since we were coming in around the time that we were closing, I was told to come in the following morning to make payment. I was told that we could either pay in office or over the phone with credit card. We came in from out of state to buy a home and would only be staying for one night as we were closing on a house after 2 years of full time RV'ing. When we arrived, there were TONS of sites available (now I know why), and parked in one without a cone. I had a weird feeling about the loose rules surrounding after hours check in and decided to call the front desk to make sure that they weren't in office to pay. (Called at 4:55pm and no one was available) I left a message telling them my full name, the type of RV that we had, and that we would be in in the AM to pay. We had to leave the campground at 8:15 the following morning to meet attorneys for an early meeting at 8:30 with several other people on the closure of a house, most of whom were flying in from out of state. I was super weary of their rules specifically because there was zero room for error in getting out of the RV on time because our attorney was charging $500/hour for coming in early to accommodate all parties for a closing. When we were walking out the door at 8:15 we were met by a security guard telling us that we would have to pack our things and move to another spot because our spot was to be occupied for the next month, and should have had a cone in the driveway. I asked if we could stay until 11:00 so that we could make our attorney appt. on time and she said no and told us that if we wouldn't leave that we would be towed and would have to pay to recover our 5th wheel (our pets were inside) as the mistake was simply an "act of god" because of rain (even tho all cones around us in sites were still up and there was zero flooding on the pads). Even at points seemingly accusing "someone" of moving the cone- get real! After some exchanged words with the security guard, the RESERVOIR POLICE DEPARTMENT showed up and basically accused us of trying to steal a night at the campground because we weren't registered (let me be perfectly clear: this is not because we didn't WANT TO BE REGISTERED, but because of their late night check in policy encourages it!!!) at this point, we were 30 minutes late for an appointment where several people and attorneys were waiting (costing us at least $250), dog barking, and our toddlers crying in the car wondering why we were talking to police officers, neighbors outside staring wondering about what was going on, and are basically being questioned by 2 reservoir police officers. Now- here's the thing. This situation was particularly unique because we were in a position where we were literally spending hundreds of dollars by their error. If it had been approached with maybe an apology or even just a hint of compassion, I probably would have been a much more pleasant customer to deal with. Accidents happen! I get it. But having traveled to hundreds of campgrounds with our fair share of hiccups and set backs, I have NEVER been met with so much disregard and lack of accountability for their own mistake, and also have NEVER raised my voice with someone doing their job before- but it was honestly impossible with this level of unprofessionalism and blatant misuse of power by the security guard/manager/reservoir police officer. I think her name was Brianne? Brianna? After getting a call back from the manager, I told my story, not with any expectations. I honestly didn't even want my money back. I wanted to explain that I wasn't a thief or a bully, just explain my experience so that it could be avoided later on. After telling my story, I was met with "you are the one who escalated it, so I called in for backup." The manager I was talking to WAS the security guard! She offered no apology or accountability of "staff" (herself and her reservoir police friends) or the policy. Just the act of god excuse. Im honestly not sure at this point which place deserves this review- the campground or the reservoir police? Because there's clearly no distraction between the 2. SO! If you don't mind being treated with complete and total disrespect, walking in dog poop on your site, having to clean off trash and cig butts before you roast your food on the grill (which I would not recommend), and getting a completely unwarranted police visit because you questioned having to pay a nightly rate for their mistake, then this place is perfect for you. Another thing: it's Mississippi on the reservoir- if "an act of god", which is as simple as a day of rain for these people, is a viable excuse for this campground to neglect any form of human compassion or responsibility for their guests, chances are good that you'll experience this here as well. While traveling down the Natchez Trace, we decided to stay at the Timberlake Campground. After calling right at closing, we were given a very friendly invitation to camp at their nightly sites and to pay the next morning. When we arrived, it was very difficult to find those nightly sites. After getting directions from a current long time camper, we parked. The site was very level; however, the campground restroom was unusable and the floor was covered in ants. After a quiet night, we went to the office and paid for our spot. Again very courteous and accommodating. Then, five days later we get a call from an extremely unpleasant woman stating we hadn't paid. After making several rude comments and then being told we had paid by credit card, she was told by another woman that it must have been someone else who hadn't paid and to forget about it. We will definitely be checking our credit card charges. read more

This is a beautiful campground, but is poorly run. We called to book an RV site several weeks before our arrival. When we checked in, the site they had reserved for us was hard to get level in, so they assigned a different spot. Later, they told us we had to move because they had promised that spot to someone else. There were 12 empty spots on our row, but they continually told us they were really busy & full. Something about first come first served vs. reserved sites. One of the times we visited the office to ask a question the only person in the office was asleep on a couch. The other people staying at the campgrounds were so friendly & the campgrounds were beautiful & close to everything you need. The manager of the campgrounds was awful & hard to deal with. We gave her our credit card info & asked her to charge our stay, but she misplaced all our paperwork & called demanding we pay immediately. When my husband got to the office with a check, she to him to just pay when we checked out. It is a shame that such beautiful campground is so difficult to book. read more
