Okay - getting my gas station reviews out of my system…read more.. Hess for some odd reason (and I've noticed this in other cities too) has cheaper fuel prices. Not by a ton, but enough to make you drive a little bit further to this station. Right across the street from Ingles on Smokey Park Highway. Everything is neat and clean. And even if I just need to go use their restroom and not buy gas/snacks, the associates are still nice and friendly. Thusly is my shout out for Hess!

But this morning, 10/2/2025, I had a few items to get, and after getting them I decided to check out the breakfast bar. The young man waiting on customers was washing dishes, he stopped washing to wait on customers, he was wearing restaurant style serving gloves, but he wiped them off with a paper towel and commenced to touching food with those gloves he was washing dishes with. Now I know Ingles provides plenty of gloves for the employees to change out, which he did not. I don't know what type of chemicals are used to clean with, but a simple glove change would have been great so we as customers don't have to ingest that into our system. Tighten up Ingles before you poison someone. And I will be speaking to Spencer Richards about it when I see him again.

I've never experienced so much blatant racism in my life as I did when the clerk insulted my friend, referred to him as a N*****, and said my friend wasn't welcome at his gas station! This happened when my friend's payment didn't work, and the clerk made derogatory statements about my friend and his money. So, we left with nothing and didn't attempt to buy anything else.
