I initially signed up with Timeshares by Owner, first with a Marketing fee of $799 to market my timeshare in Hawaii at Kaanapali Beach Maui Hawaii. This is a Hyatt property. I was "trusting there stated years of experience and promises of a quick sale as I made the price very affordable. Instead of truly getting offers, I got a ton of phone calls, very aggressively asking for more money. Of course these calls were not from TSBO, nor affiliated, I will accuse TBSO of feeding my information to the wolves! They take up from money and not results!!!!! I just got a call from Timeshares Market located at the same address as Timeshares By Owner. Similar story to what I am reading here. They said they showcased by Sands of Kahana unit in Maui and have a Canadian buyer that will pay 38,000 for it. I never listed my unit anywhere that it would get picked up to showcase. They have me as sole owner, which I am not. They said they will send me a contract and that the upfront fee is $2000 for the legal part of the transaction. I already know I can get this done for $550 from a title company. Too many red flags and it appears they are running multilple businesses at this address. I spoke with John Davis. Never have i received more phone calls and offers from TbO than AFTER i finally unloaded my timeshare! fees, fees, fees ... premium this ... never a call. i even updated the price to under $3k ... nothing. save your money and just "surrender" your timeshare back to the timeshare company. of course, you have to PAY for them to take it off your hands. money well-spent. read more

SCAM ALERT: I was scammed out of $2,800 by a company called Owners Accommodation that falsely claimed I could rent out unused RCI timeshare "getaway weeks" for thousands of dollars. They made big promises about easy payouts and contracts with corporate clients--but after 6 months of delays, lies, and now demands for more money, it's clear this is a bait-and-switch scam. They lie about their service, and their service hardly exists they sold me a bill of goods, claiming that there are no more fees to pay ever, and they already asked me for an additional $3,598 so they can send me clients. the same BS they told me in the first place They put my timeshare up somewhere in another country. My grandparents were scammed out of lots of money from this company. I complained and asked their money be refunded. The Vice President, Kevin White, insisted they did nothing wrong which is false when the sales representatives guaranteed my grandparents they could sell or at least rent their three timeshare properties. Today I filed complaints with the FTC, FBI and Florida Attorney General. I encourage others to do the same and would be happy to take information from others to gather it together. read more

Agree with total waste of money! Promised $23,000 ,with $2000 fee to them, but wnted a wire transfer of $3,000 for "taxes" prior to sending their check. THey set up a phone call to go over things on Monday at 5PM. They didn't call till Thursday 8AM. Them Mr. Kyle West (Feel free to call his personal line at 407-496-6263) called and demanded that I go to the bank today and do the wire transfer. Sounds like a red flag. I called back and said that we are not going to business with them and I was told that the money we have already given them will not be refunded. An expensive lesson, I'm sure, but a good one. I was called about a timeshare that I don't own and asked where they received my information and why they were calling a do not call registered line. Getting no answer I contacted the BBB and logged a complaint to which Kevin White, a Vice President within timesharesbyowner, responded. In his response, in the first paragraph , he states,"However, we also understand that Mr. McKenna had responded to a website inquiry from www.mytimeshareexpert.com in which he had submitted an eligibility form indicating that he held a mortgage on a timeshare. Timeshares By Owner is one of the companies that works as a third party contact as defined in the eligibility form filled out by Mr. McKenna." Which is an outright lie. In his follow-up response he states, "I did not say that the client holds a mortgage on a timeshare. His name was on something that came through from another company and that is the ONLY reason that he was called." Contradicting his first response. Why would anyone do business with a company that attempts to lie its way out of a BBB complaint? If the upper management lies, why would anyone expect an underling to do any better? I don't even own a timeshare! I had one in the late '80's and realized my mistake and got out. Don't do it. What they promise you on the phone is completely gone after you paid your money. The person on the phone tells you not to worry about the 'legalize', yet when they don't do anything they promised, they tell you about the 'legalize' in the contract you signed. I should have known better. I trusted a very good sales person. None of the offers I received were 40% of what I was promised. I was contacted by 'higher ups' who were rude, condescending and accused me of being argumentative. Just don't do it. read more

This is a TERRIBLE company. They are dishonest and very unprofessional. I placed two of my timeshares for rent with this company. My units were in Scottsdale, AZ during top rental periods: the Christmas season (Dec. 19-26 2021) and New Year's (Dec. 30-Jan 6, 2022). I had the timeshare listed for $700 for a week on another site, but they talked me into listing on their site at a much higher rate: $1600-1800 for the week. They said my listing was way low. They put me on hold and then said that my units should be renting for $1800 due to their location and holiday season. The price to advertise with them was $700. There was a 10 day period to cancel. I did not get one offer, so I called them after 9 days. I was talked into keeping the units on the market at the same rental price. Neither one of my units got a single offer, ever. They never reached out and said we should lower the price because they over-valued the property. Nothing. I have tried to call to complain, but they refuse to return my calls. I am contacting Consumer Affairs and the Better Business Bureau to advise them of the circumstances. read more

I signed an agreement with Timeshare By Owner on Friday 11/08/18 and I should have read the agreement first before giving them my credit card information. I was told I would have to pay $184.00 to hire them to rent my TS and after checking my bank on Monday 11/12/18 I see that my account was charged $884.00. I immediately called my bank to see if they could reverse the payment since it was still showing as pending but my bank stated that they could not reverse the charges since it was a legal agreement. So I called TSBO and the receptionist stated that everyone was on the phone and that someone would call me back. I read the agreement and found that I have 10 days to cancel from the date of signing and I would need to send a written letter to their business address or email to info@timesharesbyowner.com. I sent the email requesting to cancel and for them to refund my $$ to my account within the 5-20 days. Now I called 3 hours ago and still, no one has called me back from TSBO. I sent the email to cancel just to cover myself in the event that they get amnesia and forget to call me back. After being told one amount of ($184) and seeing another charge of ($884.00) on my account I see that this company is definitely a SCAM. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY TSBO. I should have read the contract before giving them any money. read more

Lorraine Gonzalez then offered to lower the price to $699. She told me that my rental is rare and there isn't that many out there. Her associate Dave Allen also stated that they want my timeshare because it's a hot item for the Super bowl. After doing all my research, calling multiple organizations to make sure Time Share by Owners is a real business; I still could not afford $700. Lorraine continued to sell me and use Phrases like: "Your rental is prime", "You have touched my heart", "We have a radio show", and "We have a Time Share magazine". "We did $1 million dollars in business last week" "We are a legit company, were across Downtown Disney" I will admit to you, I was sold. My wife and I are financially hurting and we needed help to with our time share maintenance fees. I told them that we have a $400 credit card limit and we are calling capital one to get an increase so we could cover the $700 fee to allow Time share by owners help us. Of course Lorraine called me back immediately and said she will take the $400. She stated that "I am a Platinum Customer". She started out my rental at $3,000 a week. I started getting views on my timeshare (DO NOT BE SOLD BY THIS, YOU YOURSELF CAN GO ON THEIR SITE AND CLICK ON A POSTING, AND IT WILL EMAIL THE OWNER). 1, week, 2 weeks go by, the views slowed down. NO OFFERS! I have been scammed! They took my $ and never worked for me again. I called anyone I could get a hold of at Time Share by Owner and only a Brandi Peet called me back or returned my emails. She was nice, but she could not explain anything about sales or marketing. She kept repeating the administrative process over and over again. Her Supervisor Kevin White continues to blame me(the customer) that I signed the contract and that it's my own doing why they haven't done their jobs. I asked what the lies told to me leading up to me signing the contract and he had no reply. HORRIBLE BUSINESS PRACTICES! I explained to them, that everything the sales people told me over the phone was a lie and she had no idea why they told me those things: For example, why they listed my time for $3,000 when other timeshare for the same resort were going for $650 For example, this so called Radio Show they have only promotes properties under $1,000(so why did Lorraine tell me she's going to try and get my rental on the show?) For example, why did they tell me my time share is a "Hot ticket item for the Super Bowl" and they only have a few in their catalog, but I clearly see 65 listings on their website! This business steals your $, lie to you, never return phone calls and are absolute crooks. I have tried to reach 2 managers and no return phone calls what so ever. Do not be sold by these jerks. Take everything they say with caution. They simply sign you up and put your timeshare on the shelf. They will constantly say "We are working hard for you and will continue to work hard for you", don't but the hype. They do not care about people. They do not care how loud you cry. THEY DON'T CARE!!!!!!! In this economy, money is tight, I had to max out a small credit card to sign up, and now I am screwed out my credit card bill and maintenance fees. Very unhappy customer. In December 2013 Roy Lague (888-311-7653x125) called me daily to list my time share with TimesharebyOwner. He said they have a wondeful marketing program. As you know, we pay $399 per timeshare property for them to market. After listing with them....the phone calls stopped. I could not and still cannot find my properties listed on their website. I wrote a letter to the company and complained. Now I got a phone call from Christain Broughton 888-311-7653 x109. He said if I would pay them another $670 that they would get the times shares sold. They now have instant buyers. Roy Lague will not return my phone calls. Timeshares by Owner is not a member of ARDA (American Resort Development Association) and if you go to Ranking.com they are not even in the top 10 ranking of time share sales. Im always on the road for my job, and cant adequately use my vacation weeks . It took a little while to finally get a bite, but it took a little networking with the by Owner people, and that seems to have worked. No matter what, I didn't realize I had be a little proactive , especially with conversation with buyers, some were just wanting a deal, some wanted to list me again somewhere else. I tried to the whole per click thing by selling myself, and these guys seem to have it covered. I would never buy another timeshare (Ive owned 2) But I would call an owner that lists here to rent theirs. Much better for me that way. Dont price it too high folks. I wish it was sold in a few months, but it did take over a year. Thats why they're not getting 5 stars...but Im happy now. read more

The only good thing I can say about my experience with Timeshares by Owner is that I did not lose as much money as some of the others who posted their experiences. I was skeptical my timeshare would bring the weekly rental that the representative said it would, and as a test of Timeshares by Owner I discounted the price substantially from the one recommended by the rep. Time shares by owner called me and presented a lot of false information, "they are the exclusive representatives to market my RCI points for my resort." False misrepresentation by sales rep's Mitch and Jeremiah. "They (my timeshare group) should have told you about us and you could have avoided now having to pay $1972 to enroll now." (Mitch). "We will sell your remaining points within 14-21 days, guaranteed or x2 your money back." (Mitch & Jerimiah). SCAM!!! This company is a complete ripoff. They lie to you and tell you they already have buyers for your condo (golfers or investors, etc lies) They will promise they will immediately get you rent money for your banked weeks then they will badger you to death (*daily) that if you really want sell it you need to upgrade to their Elite service and pay them thousands MORE money! They guaranteed me they could sell mine in 30 -60 days and I'd have rent money even sooner. LIES! It's been a year and not one offer to buy and they have not even been able to rent my weeks. My condo is steps away from Universal Studios and sleeps 6-8 . The few rental offers they sent me were ONLY after I called to complain and from mysterious people that never responded. I think the offers were more scams they probably generate from in house. I am reporting them to the BBB and Florida Attorney General. I will she them to get my money back. TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY! I wish I could give them negative stars. I wanted to get rid of a timeshare because I no longer wanted to pay the yearly maintenance fees. I found Timeshares by Owner and paid them hundreds of dollars to create an ad on their website. After a full year, my ad has gotten a measley 124 page views (and probably 20 of them from me) and NO inquiries from any prospective buyers (even after lowering the asking price several times). read more

Thank you for sharing all your bad experiences with TBO. I was just contacted by Melissa yesterday to list my TS with them. She asked for a $599 fee to their own title search (even though I told her that I just got a title letter from Worldmark). She said that the document could be fake. Then I told her that I just listed my TS with Donate for a Cause. She said that I could list it with her and DFAC at the same time. And if DFAC sells it first, they will double my initial $599. It sounded too good to be true, so I told her that I would think about it. And I asked her to email me information (which I never received). So I went on the internet and found all the complaints about Timeshares by Owner. As I'm checking this out, I see the complaints going all the way back for several years. I don't understand how a company like that can exist for so many years without it being shut down for fraudulent business practices. War contacted by a Danna Mathews who said she was a supervisor for the thmeshare rental dept. in Orlando, Fla. for "Timesahar by Owner" of which I had paid $2200 to become a member. She said she had an offer for 13 weeks in Orlando florida from Puritans Pride in Oakdale, NY. She had all my information including my asking price per week. (She told me to find the nearest Wal-mart and use "Moneygram' to wire half the guest reservation fees to her assistant Sarah Milton. She said Puritanspride had already deposited $26000.00 in their account for my weeks. Upon receipt of my $390 {1/2 the guist fees} Wells Fargo would deliver the check between 8am-2pm the following Friday. Stupid of me not to check it out. Owners beware. A total fraud. read more

Was contact by a Matthew Dowling who said he needed my Hawaii timeshare weeks because he had a convention and was short a number of units. He offered $2800 for my points with Pahio at Ka Eo' Kai. I was told I'd have to sign up with them in order to process the rental. I agreed and signed a contract that I believed would be for a matter of days. The rental was supposed to go through in two weeks...then in another month. Meantime, my AmEx bill came in with a charge of $900. When I called Timeshares by Owner they said I'd signed the contract but there are no rental offers pending. Fortunately, I have not paid and contacted AmEx and the Better Business Bureau, both of whom will be contacting these people with my complaint. I have no intention of paying this charge -- they are liars and scammers! read more

I talked to Melissa today about selling our timeshare. She said there are only 4 companies that can sell a timeshare. She said she could sell our timeshare for 52000 dollars and it would only cost me the cost of the documents and that I would get money back after it sold. There are buyers out there waiting to buy and it would only take 3 days to close. I haven' t done anything yet, but after seeing all these negative reviews, this must be a scam. Hi Everybody. Boy have you guys given me the confirmation I wanted, and needed! For the past two months these people have gotten a hold of our number.... (we did of course list our Tahiti Village timeshare through another company...so it is public information)...but this other company has not panned out ,however, we didn't pay them any money. I get call at least 3-4 times a week, and sometimes twice a day. I recognize their number. Of course, this morning this called me bright and early, at 8.a.m. The first time I spoke with a woman, who sounded like she was reading from a script, I asked to speak to her supervisor. He introduced himself as Chuck Carpenter. He said today, he would take $750 up front and $750 when it sold. The first time I talked to them both, they wanted me to send them $1500 that day, before I hung up the phone,..."in order for them to do the work on my behalf, to sell the timeshare". to a group of golfers, that wanted to buy the property for $25,000-$27,000. They didn't really have any of their basic information correct, and we're clearly "fishing for answers" from me. So I 'll just stop here and say, I'm sorry to Quang T. Mike, Sam and all the other good people who took time out of their busy day to help enlighten, people like me. I pray that in some way, you are blessed with good fortune...for your willingness to help others. Shame on these people, they are the real "losers".
