I lease a water heater and it went on friday. The leasing company sent the service request to Giard. I got a call saturday afternoon they would come Monday, When I pushed to have it sooner, with lots of tone, he told me IT WAS THE WEEKEND. He then said they couldn't get my type of water heater. So no hot water, all weekend. They came today (Monday), after he installed it he asked me to sign. I said, the water is not hot yet, so how do I know it works before I sign. (Don't people want to know things work before they sign?) His response was "you will sign or I will make SURE it doesn't work." Reluctantly, I signed. Also, they drained the old one. There was already water there from the leaking but they left it much worse than it was. I would think a plumbing company would shop vac their mess up? Not a great experience. I couldn't be happier with the service call back time and making time during they're busy day to stop over and check my tub drain that was leaking into condo below. Next day the boss and tech looked at neighbors unit and I was told it's a common area pipe so they refer back to condo association. Now it's a waiting game to see when it'll be fixed. Giard Plumbing has been our go-to plumbing service for the last 10 years. Whether it is a simple repair (faucet/toilet) or something more complex such as an ice-blown water line or worse, Giard has been at our doorstep to provide a fix each and every time. It was shocking to see some of the poor reviews given that we've had nothing but positive experiences with the company on numerous occasions. We have not yet had to request help for heating issues, but are confident that no matter the case, Tim or Jeremy would find a solution to remedy the concerns quickly. They have in every other instance thus far and we continue to depend on the Giard team for all our plumbing needs. Most importantly, they are punctual (and will call and advise if there are issues with being on time), professional. Worth the money you need to invest to keep a home fully operational and trouble-free in the plumbing department. Had a major leak in the soil stack of the house running up through some built in pantry cabinets on a turn of the century property. Called Giard and Jeremy came the following day, took a look at the situation and gave me a fair estimate. They were able to fit me into their busy schedule quickly. They coordinated with a contractor to come the day before and disassemble the pantry cabinet. The day of the work, Timothy and his crew arrived on time and completed the project quickly, although it was relatively complicated. I pointed out an additional issue I was having with an upstairs toilet, and he came back the next day and fixed it for nothing! They coordinated with the contractor to return the next day and reassemble the pantry cabinets, and it was like they were never there. After coming to look at the situation, we quickly arranged a date for Jeremy (and his crew member) to come back to fix our shower. I had a really great experience with these guys. My water heater busted on a Friday, nothing major like a flood in the basement or anything, just a small leak. I called Roto-Rooter to come by and check it out. They said it would cost $1400 to replace the water heater. Having heard that, I went to Home Depot and purchased a new water heater for $350 and brought it home. Now all I had to do was find someone to install it. I called another plumber who said it would cost $600-1000 to install it. I scoffed at that price as well. When I spoke to Chris from Giard on the phone, he said it sounded like a pretty easy swap. He said it would be about $400, dependent on any other items that may need replacing. He arrived early and called one of his other guys (Eric) to help out with getting the new water heater into the basement. These guys were so pleasant to work with. They completed the job in no time (even fixing a toilet that broke THAT morning; I was having quite the day). As they packed up to leave, I told them that the hardest part about being a homeowner isn't the home, it's finding trustworthy people around to help you take care of that home. read more

I can not say enough about Jeremy (the & Son) and the outstanding job he did for me. A Saturday night, at least 10 below 0 and was at my house in ten minutes. Very disappointed... and confused. He did plumbing in my parents house years ago. I recently moved back to the area and I'm redoing some things in the house for them. I was looking at the plumbing in my old high school bed room. There was a 20 inch section of heating base board by the door. When I took the metal cover off to vacuum the metal heater it fell right off. I then noticed that the metal pipe that SHOULD go into the wall and connect to the rest of the plumbing wasn't connected at all. There wasn't even a hole in the wall where the pipe could enter!! It was literally a FAKE heater that he put on to make it look like it worked. There was no intention that this heater would or could be in any way functional. I don't even know why he put it on! To trick us? I was livid. I immediately showed my parents and they were shocked. That room was always the coldest room in the house and we assumed it was because it was attached to a balcony with a glass door. Obviously there was a bigger problem! read more

Excellent experience all around when I needed to replace my Navian tankless combi-boiler heating unit. Ally answered the phone and was kind, helpful, and reassuring. They scheduled me within the week, but when the situation became more of an emergency, they were able to work it out so they could come sooner. Jeremy was honest, thorough, and clearly knew what he was doing. He went above and beyond to help get the unit covered by warranty, and he and Ally both made sure I have what I need to apply for a state energy rebate. Jeremy, Katie, and the whole crew worked professionally, efficiently, and safely. The unit and plumbing were a mess when I bought the house, but after they re-plumbed and installed the new unit, it looks just like the pictures on the Navian website, and it is working great. Avoid surprises and over charge! Get everything in writing ahead of time. I've had Giard do maintenance work several times. This past summer my basement CO alarm was going off and my boiler said "service needed" so I called Giard. Despite what Jeremy called "a dangerous situation" it took him 2 weeks to come. When he looked at my boiler he told me that it was installed illegally and needed to shut it down. (see 1st sentence) I called the town inspector for 2nd opinion, he agreed and shut it down. The boiler had been installed by another company who is no longer doing business in this area so Jeremy gave me an estimate of $5900.00 to replace mine he also installed a temporary electric water heater for use until I got my system replaced. Fortunately I was able to get in touch with the company that installed it and they took care of the problem at $0 cost to me. When the system was repaired and signed off by the town I called Jeremy to let him know that he could come pick up the electric water heater. Instead of coming to get the heater I received an invoice for $900!!! What? For one month? The invoice even said temporary! I asked him to reconsider and when he would not I asked for a few weeks to try to sell the heater on my own. In Jeremy's email he stated that had he gotten the job to replace the boiler he would have discounted the heater and removed it and he didn't feel he needed to tell me the cost because it would have been absorbed into the job which I told him he'd get. I NEVER told him he'd replace my boiler...what Idid tell him was that IF the company that installed it didn't help THEN I would have hired him. Jeremy even wasn't willing to give me a little time to sell the heater, I received an email from his LAWYER accusing me of refusal to pay and threatening a lien on my property if I don't pay it in full immediately. I found out that once the water heater is installed and disconnected the warranty is invalid and this is probably why he didn't want it...could he have told me that? Nope, just refused (through his lawyer) to get it. I'll admit I had fun with this lawyer who didn't have a problem writing me long threatening emails....Unless he has some deal with Giard, the lawyer cost was way more than $900. Long story short we came to a compromise on the price and Giard came to get the heater. I won't be doing business with them in the future. read more

Several weeks ago during the cold March temperatures, our furnace failed at a really inopportune time (family visiting with a newborn baby). I called Giard Plumbing on a Sunday afternoon and left a message on the emergency line. Tim called back right away, and for the second time in the decade that we've been in our home, his son, Jeremy, was out within the hour to assess the problem. The furnace needed to be replaced. The quote was reasonable, The new furnace was ordered by Monday, and by Wednesday it had been installed cleanly, efficiently and professionally. We couldn't have been more pleased. I had Timothy Giard of Timothy Giard Plumbing install a Navian tankless heater/ hot water system in my home. During the first winter, when it snowed a good amount, the system would turn itself off. I found out that was a safety feature when the vent pipe became too clogged with snow. He installed the vent pipe about a foot off the ground almost guaranteeing that it would be a problem with any major storm. After that, I would have to constantly check to make sure that snow hadn't built up around the vent pipe. I found out how to reset the system so that I would not have to wait for him to come back out every time we had snow. He told me that he would rework the vent pipe to fix that problem. He never responded to my multiple requests to rework the vent and I ended up taking care of it myself this summer. After the first winter the system starting acting up and was leaking water at various times. He replaced one of the valves and the drain box and hose. That did nothing. It still leaked. It took about a half dozen trips to finally figure out that something in the box was cracked allowing water to leak out. He finally replaced the whole wall unit. Unit was covered by warranty but he still charged me $425 for labor. This unit seems to work fine but sometimes when it starts up, the whole house vibrates. He eventually sent his son to make an adjustment but that didn't help. His son told me that I would need another adjustment or that the gas company would need to increase gas pressure to my house. I contacted Tim and he told me that he would take care of it. I asked him to let me know which option was best and to contact me ASAP after he had talked to his son. I never heard from him. After a month, I contacted him again and he promised me that he would contact me later in the day. Needless to say I never heard from him again. It seems like he was always willing to be there when money was on the line but not when it was time to stand behind his work or honor his promises. Gave him one more shot and he tells me on Tuesday that I am scheduled for a Wednesday visit. I have never been available on Wednesday and he knows that. That just goes to show that he was never intending to fix the problem in the first place. Customer service is almost nonexistent with Tim. He is there when it is convenient for him but you just can't count on him. The simple truth is that I don't trust him anymore. I would never use or recommend that anyone else use Timothy Giard Plumbing again. read more
