I recently moved to the area and feel lucky to have found Timothy Richard Salon. The receptionists are friendly, they call you back regarding appointment requests, costs are comparable to the going rate and the stylists are on time, professional and don't make you feel uncomfortable while you wait for color to set etc. I have had my hair colored and also have done a wash and style with two different stylists who were each excellent. Shalynne gave me the fastest blowout I have ever had (I have long thick curly hair) and it lasted stick straight for days without having to use a hot iron. In all fairness, I have personally never been to this salon. But, my sister desperately needed a haircut and hadn't yet found a salon she could go to after she moved to her new place. As her Christmas gift I decided to get her a new 'do, but where to send her? I don't exactly live close by and am not familiar with salons in the area. After finding Timothy Richard's on Yelp I called them up. They were extremely nice and accommodating, set the appointment and allowed me to pre pay for everything. All my sister had to do was show up. She said her stylist Marcy, was really cool and helped her decide on a hairstyle that would work for her lifestyle as a busy mom with three kids. She didn't feel pressured to buy anything unnecessary, and just all around enjoyed the experience. She said she would definitely go back, and even my mother is going to make an appointment for herself! The prices seemed extremely fair, but I am going by Chicago standards after all, where I easily pay double for the same thing. But based on my sister's rave review, I might take advantage of their services myself next time I visit! read more

I've moved salons, in my trend of following my stylist where ever she is working. :-) Marci is now working at Timothy Richard, and I've been in twice so far. LOVE this place. The service is always great, and I like the feel of a smaller and less "corporate" salon. Of course, Marci is excellent, hence me following her around to 3 salons over the years. I'd definitely recommend booking an appt with her, you may end up waiting a bit, she seems to be booked for weeks in advance. I suppose that's a true testament to her following. :-) read more

This salon is definitely the best in the area. Having recently moved to Boston, I had no trouble at all finding the courage to switch doctors to those within a 10 mi radius. Switching to a different colorist, however, I'm just not ready to do. Marci is amazing. She completely nailed the exact shade of blonde that I was looking for, and the color faded perfectly. (She did my hair in April and I am just going back to get it done again FOUR months later!!) Despite being in a city where I'm sure there are many great colorists, the 2 hr trip to CT for great color will be well worth it! The salon is beautiful, bright, and relaxing. I had a really great experience here. I made the appointment one week in advance. They call to remind you about two days before your appointment, which is very helpful for people like me....who forget about literally everything. Oops. I forget the name of the girl that worked on me, but she was wonderful. I'll have to find out and update the review so she gets credit. She got right to work and understood what I meant, didn't seem to be confused at all. She is a 'new' type stylist, so she's a bit more affordable, but her work didn't feel new or amateur at all. She handled my weird, super thick, under-cut havin' hair like a champ. She was also very gentle, as I have psoriasis and sensitivity to heat. The flat iron didn't touch me once. Praise the lord. As an introvert, I also really appreciated the non-invasive personality she has--She talked to me a lot, but not too much, and I zoned out a ton on my phone and respected her work flow--in turn, she respected my lack of motivation to talk much. All my poor dead ends are gone, about 4 inches worth, and my hair has never been more silky and shiny. I hope to God it looks even half this nice when I wash it next. My whole cut and styling cost $40, but I left $10 for a tip. 10/10 would go again. :~) read more

I had my hair cut here last week, and it's the worst haircut I've ever had. The salon itself is very nice, and everyone there was very nice, but I am just so disappointed with how my hair turned out. I asked for an easy to maintain haircut with long layers, and I walked out of there with extremely short, choppy layers that don't look good no matter what I do to them. I will likely go somewhere else to see what can possibly be done to fix this haircut. Updated: the business reached out to me and was very nice and apologetic about it. They're more than willing to do what they can to fix the situation. read more

Due to my occupation I have to travel a lot and it's hard at times to find a great hair salon. This hair salon is fantastic! I have gotten my haircut and dye here twice. The thing about reviews, their like the reality of most things, one person loves them, another...well, not so much. I'm here to give balance. I'm a guy as you might figure, but I am a hair guy. I like my hair to look great, and I notice a women's hair every time. I fret over my hair, every time I have to get it cut. I was persuaded by a number of things to give Timothy Richards a go. None was word of mouth. I made the appointment and showed up ahead of time. I waited well beyond my scheduled time..but stuff happens. No problem. It seemed like no operator was in the mood to take another client (it was end of day). Finally I was whisked into the chair by the sink, super quickly washed and so on...zooooomed over to another operators chair...where she snipped, cut and did her magic....all while being very curt. Once she declared me "done" she whispered to another of the operators and said her quick goodbye to me, disappeared into the back of the salon, and while I "took care of business" was out the door and we nearly walked into one another in the parking lot and she didn't say a word. Got into her SUV and flew out of the parking lot. My hair....absolutely aweful! Not even nice for the first moment. The cut was not at all flattering or what I suggested (that part is fine, no point in asking a pro if you're not going to take their advice). But the whole experience, and the hair itself...was just nothing I would ever care to experience again. I'd drop in if you want to see a minimalist interior design well done. My daughter and I had our hair cut and colored last week and they did a beautiful job.They are so clear on the pricing and give you an estimate on the service. This salon is by far the best place I've ever been. I've had both Chelsea and Ashley do my hair and both times i felt transformed! The salon is welcoming and very chic. You get a one on one consultation where the stylist goes over your wants and gives you professional opinion on how to achieve the look you want. Then they go over price in detail so there's no surprise or sticker shock. I was offered a beverage while i waited for her to mix my color. I felt the stylist worked very hard to establish a partnership with me and absolutely had my best interest in mind. I trusted her with my hair. My hair is GORGEOUS! Go here.
