Kind of sad to report, but happy to give Matt The Millers credit, for being the first pub we…read moreencountered with live Irish music before 9pm during a seven day trip around the island. We stayed in four different cities, and traveled to many more, had lunch or dinner in a variety of pubs, and most, if they had music, were playing 2000's American pop hit junk. Some of those other pubs did have live music schedules for later evening, but we were trying to get our pub experiences at lunch and then 6p-9p range each day so we could get to sleep for the next day's exploring. It's also really nice that this pub is along the water (the river through Kilkenny) and some of the seating overlooks it via window, including open windows if you like. The kitchen closes early here, even on Fridays; 8pm during our June 2026 visit, so plan around that if you are intending to get dinner. Food-wise: * Really enjoyed the beef stew; good price no complaints. * Margherita pizza is great * Caprese Salad is not expensive but pretty mediocre * Seafood Chowder was very good * Tortellini was fine for Ireland Take all the above in context with the overall Irish food scene, which is mostly average at best. These feelings are based on seven days of eating around the country, so when I'm saying the beef stew was really good, that's compared to the rest of Ireland where I had one I liked more and a few others that were not good at all. Drink pricing is on par with other tourist cities; not bad. As with most pubs, beer and liquor selection is limited outside of the extensive Irish Whiskey options. For example, two rums, one bourbon, beers were what we encountered everywhere and no deviation. Service was similar to the rest of Ireland; initial order taking and then you have to flag someone down for anything after that.

We got in and snagged a table in the perfect location. We started off with food. The fish and chips were amazing. The fish wasn't too breaded or oily. The piece of fish was huge! The fresh green onions and homemade tater sauce elevated the dish. We stayed at the pub until Irish music started, which was so good! Hearing the tin whistle, guitar, and beautiful Irish singing was such a treat. We enjoyed a handful of cocktails and Guinness! Very enjoyable night!

It's tex mex, but it's been around for ages so they can't be blamed for copying the recent hipster trend. They have all the usual favourite. The ground beef burrito is my favourite dish with baked potato. The wedges are also a great side, better than the frozen chips- avoids those. They also have an extensive dessert menu. Like the meringue sundae, with the chewy bits at the bottom. The wine choice isn't great, with limited options though they might have upped their game recently. Worth checking out the early bird. No 5 stars as they could be more flexible with their bookings ( they always seem indifferent on the phone to being full). Also tried to add a fifth to the last 4 person table one time but they said no chance- the place is huge with loads of space around the tables.

It's a nice room but hardly the Alamo! I got wings, cold! But bbq sauce was divine! Burger needs work lads! Gig doesn't mean good way to much bread crumbs which I hate in a burger, leave them out make it smaller and let the meat do the work! Chips done in dirty oil, everyone knows that dreaded flavour so get that sorted chef! I don't want to be completely negative, the food is OK the price is reasonable and the house wines are good and well priced. I just think with a bit of work this spot could be amazing and it wouldn't take much! Oh the staff were exceptional as in really nice, competent and prompt Aargh I'm torn on this place, I'd love to run it for six months the potential is huge

I've dragged this old account in to the light specifically for this review. BK's own site makes it…read moreimpossible to leave any comments without giving your life story first. I love Burger King and always have since I was a young lad back in the USA. It is a unique flavor that no one else has. Unfortunately, the M11/AppleGreen layby BK never ceases to disappoint. I keep torturing myself with it because sometimes I want a freaking BK burger, and it is 5 minutes from me, and on my commute. I am hoping this criticism will help them rectify their issues. I assume this is the BK where they do a lot of training at since I have seen the training sign three times thus far. Still... 1) Service is slow on occasion. Not terrifically bad but definitely behind all the other BKs in Dublin. 2) Food is often not very hot. I've come to accept that if I crave a BK burger that I must expect it might be luke warm. I STILL go - that's how much I like them. This isn't just burgers - fried foods are often luke warm. Luke warm onion rings? :( 3) The last time I was there, they had no Ketchup. The clerk did not even offer ketchup in a cup or a dipping sauce as an option. There was ketchup on the burger, so they had it somewhere. It seems like a small thing, but it's also such a small thing to make sure it doesn't happen. 4) One time they had no napkins. 5) Occasionally we get the wrong order. Often enough, though, to mention it here. 6) Fries are rarely fresh. We were nearly jubilant that we got fries that were hot last time out. 7) The dining area is a shared area, but they could still make an effort to keep it presentable. Someone should, at least. 8) My wife will no longer go with me. I fear I've tortured her with my BK experiences. 9) I finally began avoiding this location, and I commute right past it and fill up at the AG often.

The manager served us both times. I gave back the two cold ones and initially replaced them with One Bag. I asked for the two I paid for and he went to check the bin before giving us the second bag. As if I would wait over a quarter of an hour to scam some free Burger King fries?! Awful attitude, no apology for inconvenience. If you are driving on M11 towards Dublin do not Drive Thru, DRIVE BY! Keep going until you reach McDonalds at Carrickmines.
