I won't embarrass the authorized John Deere dealer in Redding by telling you how much it was going to cost me to diagnose and then fix my D140 lawn tractor that would not start. I replaced the ignition switch and starter solenoid myself and that worked for a while then it wouldn't start again. They offered to test them, but didn't do so when I brought the parts in, but did give me a new switch. It cost me $75 for Tim's Mobile Repair to come to my house, which included 30-minutes of repair time, and that's all it took for him to fix the problem. A little clip on a plug that was part of the wiring harness broke. There is no doubt in my mind that I saved somewhere between $200 to $400 on this simple repair. Next time I'll know what to look out for. And one more thing, the dealer told me they couldn't even get around to looking at my D140 for at least 2-weeks. read more

She was able to actually try and see if she could fit me in last minute, but also discuss and help give me some things to do to self diagnose whether our broken dishwasher was a dud or not so we didn't waste time or money. Contacted them to diagnose a dishwasher in a house we had just purchased. The person on the phone walked me through a couple of troubleshooting steps. When those failed, I was asked to provide the serial number so she could determine the age of the machine. I called back and gave her the info, never heard back! I wound up tracing it myself. This guy knows his stuff. I had already taken clothes dryer apart but was having trouble diagnosing issue. Rather than charge me, he walked me through diagnosis and repair over the phone so I could do it myself. These days, you just don't find customer service like that. Boom! Ordered the part, took only two days from Amazon, put it in, enjoyed dry clothes two days later. Fast response time getting an appointment schedule receptionist (Tim's Wife) was very knowledgeable and courtesy. Where things don't set well with me is Tim arrived at 10:16 am and was gone by 10:30 am walked out the door with $65.00 I feel it was unethical and looking back I shouldn't have paid him a dime. He walked Into our kitchen where we were having issues with our freezer I had told his wife basically everything that was going on and she said he would come and be able to check the volts and making sure it's running correctly. Boy did they under delivery. Tim didn't even open up the back of the refrigerator or freezer opens the doors ask me what I've noticed and goes on to tell me LG and Samsung or Junk stay away from them and go non -Digital opens the doors both freeze and refrigerator and continues to tell me that they aren't working properly go figure hints why I called you. Looks up on his iPad the model time and tells me the type of system it has. Never once opens the panel or looks and the rear. Only open the doors and put his hand in to do a feel test. This took a good 5 mins and to make the conversation longer tells me about his beliefs on politics and his son graduating from Berkeley. Total scam! Paid $65.00 only to be told what I already know my freeze isn't working! read more

Tim is a rare find! He is so personable, fair, honest and fast service too. Our not quite 2 year old refrigerator started chirping, and the motor and the lights were going on and off. When calling the store where we bought it, they said it would be a $160 service fee to come out, plus I would have to wait almost a week for service! My husband then called Tim's, talked to Tim's wife, who suggested we unplug the fridge for an hour. That did the trick. The next day, however, the chirping and motor problems started up again. Tim came right out, and diagnosed the problem- a faulty mother board. The part was ordered, arrived quickly, and Tim again came right out and replaced the part. $75 service charge. Too bad we hadn't purchased an extended warranty, but would most likely still be waiting for service. Calling Tim's turned out to be a better option, given our situation. read more

Update Review: July 31, 2015 So my washing machine stopped working--it would just buzz. I called Tim's Mobile repair again. Tim came right out again---same day! He had a good idea of what was going on over the phone, just to give me an idea of what we'd be looking at. Turned out to be a baby sock stuck in the water pump. It was stuck real good too! He was able to remove it without ruining the water pump which is a bonus! Often Merrie is able to diagnose the problem and Tim then has the parts for the repair. Sometimes she is able to suggest a solution to try to get us going again. We have found Tim to be very honest. If a repair is not cost effective or parts are no longer available then he suggests that you not repair it . We have never had Tim or Merrie steer us wrong in the last ten years. Tim's wife gave me all my options over the phone and spent 12 minutes with me, educating me on what could possibly be the problem ( which I really appreciated!) Our dryer stopped blowing hot air, we chose Tim because of the reviews here. They told us the 3 possible problems and then ordered the 1 missing part so that he would only have to come up once. His price was SUPER reasonable and he was able to quickly fix the problem (fuse). Very happy with his communication, price & timeliness! I was totally pleased with this company. I found them here online and called for repair of our clothes dryer. Mary answered immediately (no taped message) and made several helpful suggestions of actions we could take ourselves. (amazing!) As we had already tried those measures, she scheduled us for TODAY, and notified Tim what parts he should bring along. Tim arrived on time, courteous, upbeat, knowledgeable, patient. Diagnosed the problem, had the needed part in his truck, and even tightened the door screws as well. Pricing was reasonable, too. I recently called Tim's for a repair on an older dryer. I wasn't sure if it was worth repair or replacing. I had discussed that with the tech upon him arriving. The tech assured me that my dryer was one of the best and still had many years ahead of it. They are reasonable on pricing, he only charged me the $99 service call, gave me the reason why my dryer wasn't my working properly but couldn't repair it because it was electrical. Easy fix was a new cord and electrical outlet which I was able to do myself. Three other repair businesses quoted me $400-$425 just to come out and diagnose the problem. At prices like that I would have bought a new dryer before I'd even consider paying that kind of money for someone to just look at it and not repair it. Will use Toms again if I ever need an appliance repaired. read more

I can't say enough about how nice and accommodating Tim was when fixing my beloved broken refrigerator. He came to my house on short notice and diagnosed the problem immediately. I would not recommend this gentleman to get an estimate for a refrigerator repair. I did that, he showed up, opened the back of the fridge and after a total of about 5 minutes told me he that I needed a new fridge and I owed him $80 for the service call. We were having a problem with our water and ice dispenser. I called Tim because the brick and mortar stores were charging $135.00 to come and diagnose the problem and then come back another day to fix it, charging some more. I first spoke with his wife and was immediately impressed, as she seemed to have a lot of knowledge about what the issue might be. Because of the type of refrigerator (Samsung) it was difficult to get the part in the US but she was all over it and after a couple of weeks the part arrived. Tim came out and was great, except the part was wrong due to no fault of Tim or his wife. He told me if I removed the back of the refrigerator and turned off the water at the source before he came that it would save me a little money so I did. When he returned he made the repair, the charge was much smaller than I anticipated and I was quite pleased. Then over this past weekend the dryer stopped blowing hot air. I determined that it was likely the thermal fuse but I'm not handy so I called the office on Monday morning and once again Tim's wife (I want to say her name is Mary but...) seemed to know the likely problem and agreed it was probably the thermal fuse. We scheduled an appointment for Tuesday morning and Tim arrived as scheduled, concurred with the diagnosis, replaced the fuse, and was on his way in about 40 minutes, once again leaving a happy customer. I would recommend Tim's Mobile Repair to anyone who is not able to make repairs themselves, doesn't have a lot of knowledge, and needs someone who is HONEST, RELIABLE, and has reasonable prices. My dryer started making horrible noises and struggled with if it was worth it to pay somebody to tell me it was dead. Our electric range stopped working, and we couldn't find the problem. The friendly lady who answered the phone was able to troubleshoot and give us an estimate on the phone. Turns out, that it makes more sense to just buy a new appliance - but a less ethical business would have sent out a repair-person and charged us for an hour's worth of work, before telling us, that the range is not worth fixing. Tim is amazing! While I was out of town, my kitchen range stopped working. I called Tim when I got home, he suggested some possible electrical fixes for the problem, so that I could potentially fix the range for free before I had to pay him for a service call. Those fixes didn't work, he came out the next day and diagnosed the problem in about 5 minutes. Tim came out the next morning after I found my garage fridge had died and cooked all the food in it. (Really smelly mess ) Luckily, he had the part that was needed and had it up and running within 20-30 minutes. He fee was reasonable and we also discussed the Pepsi commerical fridge that finally died also. We just moved up here to Redding a while back and bought a 6 acre place. Didn't really give it much thought about the size until spring came around and found out the grass was everywhere and needed to be cut. I checked out Caigslist and found several riding mowers. I called, and it turned out to be "Tim's Mobile Repair", I wanted to see if they still had the one I was interested in. I talked to his assistant and found out that someone else was interested in the same mower, and to come and check it out before it's sold if I wanted it. I got there as quick as I could, but it was sold 10 min. after I hung up. I Talked to Tim about what I had and he suggested another one they had there, but it needed a few things done before it was ready, and he could ck it out right now. He put a battery in it and did the other things that it needed and he got it running like brand new. The price was right on. I told him I wanted it and needed to go and rent a trailer so I can take it home. He told me " You really don't need to rent one, I'll take it out for you, no charge." you very rarely see that kind of service now days. I have called Tim a couple of times already for other things and Tim is always very knowledgeable in everything I've needed so far, and am Very Happy to know him. This company knows their stuff. I called because my one and a half year-old dishwasher had stopped draining. The friendly secretary proved to also be a fantastic troubleshooter. She asked me many questions about my dishwasher and then gave me two things to try before they came out. She told me to try them and if they didn't work I could call back the next day to schedule an appointment. This lady is like a walking talking appliance encyclopedia. She fixed my problem over the phone. After I tried the two things she suggested, my dishwasher ran like new again. I was amazed, and I am thrilled. She could have very well let the service man come out and charge me for telling me the same things. What a top notch company. They seem to have the customers best interest at heart.
