This place that is supposed to be an appliance repair is horrible!!! I would give no stars if I could. Take the money twice and when the appliance goes bad a 3rd time you can't reach them. Not through texts or phone calls. This used to be a good business, but Steve retired and the replacement and office is incompetent to say the least. I guess Steve was no good either according to the reviews. I would rather go to a laundromat then call them back even if they finally called and promised no charge. They came out to repair it and turns out it was a faulty install. Then the dishwasher started leaking out of the front of the unit. Of course we weren't able to reproduce the leak when they were here, which was unfortunate. All of Steve's techs were incredibly kind and professional, unlike Steve. We asked Steve to remove the dishwasher to run it at their shop and he refused. He claimed "I am spending a lot of time, money and man power to come there and try to fix your dishwasher when we're not seeing a leak" Would never recommend this company. Absolutely do not recommend this company! 0 stars from us. We had an almost new side by side refrigerator on consignment with them (we paid $1,700 for) as well as an almost brand new (we bought new from them 1 year prior) washing machine. We were supposed to get 2/3 of the sales price. Anyone who has shopped there knows very well that their appliances are all over priced. Well apparently he sold our appliances very cheap. Bought a new Gas range and Dishwasher from Steve's Appliance, Range was delivered next day exactly as promised.The Dishwasher installer was supposed to be out the next day and no call no show from Steves( installer had tooth absess).Was told by Steve he would probably do it next day,,,,,than Monday for sure,I called Steve Monday and was promised the installer would be out---no call, no show! "I" called Steve again and was promised the guy would be out next morning first appointment---no call , no show---"I " called again was promised the installer would be out.He did show up and was great(Marvin) but didn't know what he was supposed to do and they sent the wrong dishwasher out, Installer did return to shop and get correct dishwasher and install was excellent(I even paid him extra to install faucet and garbage disposal which was part of the original purchase but Steve didn't communicate anything with installer!) I was generally disappointed with this vendor's service. The motor on my less than two-year-old dishwasher failed and the cost of the replacement part and installation exceed the value of the appliance, so I elected to purchase a new one from Steve's. The initial wait for service was over a week and once I purchased the new dishwasher, the same day as the service, I was told that installation would occur one week later. Not ideal but being without a dishwasher for two weeks is a big inconvenience and huge waste of water, so I cleared my calendar and booked the installation appointment for the following week between 11:00-1:00. The appointed day arrived and so did the hour for the installation, but no one from Steve's. Eleven o'clock turned into noon (No problem, I had a two-hour window.) and noon turned into 1:00. Still no one from Steve's. Believing something was wrong I called Steve's and was told that no one would be showing up because of a family emergency. When I asked why no one called they said they hoped the installer would return to work that same day, although at this point it was well after my scheduled appointment. Long story short, I had to clear my calendar for the following day for the dishwasher to be installed. It is understandable if someone encounters a family emergency, but one should reasonably expect the service provider to at least call to let the customer know of the situation. This cost me portions of two days in which I had to wait for the installation and I received a halfhearted apology from the salesman for my troubles. I went with Steve's instead of Home Depot for the local vendor aspect, but not sure I will work with the vendor in the future given the trouble I encountered. read more

My son was treated so well by Steve's that when my cranky ole dryer started shredding my laundry instead of drying it. I decided to drive to Cottonwood and check them out. I just replaced my Washer-Dryer set in 2015 so I didn't need a washer...really, who knew how jealous laundry appliances are. It wasn't another 5 months before my washer declined to participate in our weekly deep cleaning, bed changing ritual. Having our home warranty company come out 5 weeks in a row just to have the washer sound like it's being devoured by the tree service trailer, seriously this is no hyperbole. The guy at the shop told me I was better off having a repairman come to my house because the person coming had over 30 years experience. When the repairman showed up, it became apparent that he must have begun working on freezers before he was born. He looked at the compressor, and commented, "so it doesn't run?" Average observational skill would have noted that it was unplugged. Speaking of which, I should have been told to have the freezer plugged in before he arrived, since he certainly wasn't going to wait around to test it. Bottom line: He took nothing out of the satchel he brought in, told me that the leak was "probably" where he couldn't find it, recommended using it for tool storage, charged me $80, and left, all in less than ten minutes. $80 paid to give him a mini-van ride in the country . read more

Went in to Steve's first thing Monday morning expecting to buy be but he knew exactly what the problem was. Sent a technician out the same day, very minor repair and we are back in business! I would not buy an appliance from this place! Yes they will sell you the appliance, yes they will guarantee to come out and fix it with the warranty. Guess what they will NOT do - return your calls or actually help you with the warranty. After multiple attempts at leaving messages and live phone calls to get someone to help, we had to drive to the store to get someone to help. Even worse - the part they needed had come in weeks before and no one bothered to let us know or schedule the service. Here we are weeks later and a service call is pending for next week, but they still won't give a specific day or time. But 3 years ago on a lark we decided to compare selection and price with this merchant and the big box stores in Redding. Wow- we were pleasantly surprised! Worst lack of customer service I have encountered. Do not use this business for anything big. Go out of Cottonwood and shop a bigger chain that will stand behind their products. I bought a water heater from Steve. Long story short-it had a faulty valve and I lost every bit of my propane. While Steve fixed the valve 2 days later, he refused to even consider compensating me for the propane I lost due to the faulty valve on his appliance. He tried to put it off on the manufacturer and kept telling me he'd call when he heard from them. After not getting any action or response for 5 months I went on to see Steve. He yelled at me in front of my two young grandchildren and was off the charts rude and unprofessional. He claimed he'd be out of business if he had to pay damages for all the faulty parts he sold. So I need a coupler for my Kenmore washing machine. It's $8 on line but I would prefer to just go get one somewhere. I call Steve A to z Appliance the guy on the phone tells me that part is $20 that's okay the convenience of just driving 15 or 20 miles to go get the part it might be twice as much but that's okay. When I get there however it's a different story of the part is $27 and change! I asked the guy I just called 10 minutes ago and it was $20 where's the guy that told me it was $20? We looked for a new gas stove last year. Most big box stores offer substandard brands. When we walked into Steve's we knew we would get good information about the difference. My husband has extensive experience repairing appliances. He would shrug that off but for awhile when money was tight we bought a yard sale washer or dryer every year and he fixed them until it just was cheaper to buy another used washer. He understands the difference in manufacturing and he urged me to go to Steve's. We were given an excellent deal on a quality stove and the hood with fan and light. They delivered and set up our new washer, dryer, and refrigerator just a few hours after we bought it - delivery and set up were free and they took away the old stuff at no cost. BAD customer service. Just got a new GE washer and it is putting holes in the clothes. GE sent an order for Steves appliance center to contact me for a schedule. Called Steves appliance the same day to see if they received the order. The girl Roma said they had not yet received it. I said when you do receive the order how soon can you get me in. She told me the week of the 20th and she would call me once the order came in. I also told her to put me on the cancellation list and she said okay and took my name and number. Days went by without any official appointment so I thought I would call to check in. Roma told me oh we rejected the service call due to not being able to get you in until after Thanksgiving. I asked why did you not call to update me. She said that was GE's job when they submitted the rejection. I called GE and they said they never received the submission of rejection from them and that as a business they should have called to notify me. SO IF YOU WANT TO GET THINGS DONE RIGHT DONT GO HERE! It was professionally installed, including removing old cabinets, and we are very happy with it. You might save a few bucks on price at the big box stores in Redding, but you will pay for it on the back end when you have to deal with their bureaucratic customer service if you have any issues (and with major appliances with delivery / installation, there will be issues). My wife and I have been loyal customer's of Steve's appliance for a number of years. Unfortunately, we had a recent leak on our refrigerator that ruined the laminate. I called Steve's in Cottonwood for a service call....young man arrived and repaired the feed line...I asked him to be sure this was the only leak...I paid him $69 for 10 min of work. After the service tech left I check the feed line from valve and found the compression nut split....after two calls to Steve's appliance I am still waiting for a response. If I could give zero stars I would. Steve is a schemer. We got a quote for him to put all new appliances in our house. I told him specifically I wanted a double oven. He told me that is what I was going to get. We agreed upon one. When the appliances were delivered It was just a regular oven with a warming drawer. We called to tell him it wasn't the right stove. He told us yes it was. I told him that I wanted a double oven. He said that was a double oven. I told him no it was a warming drawer. He said the warming drawer got to 350 degrees so he said it was a double oven. After going back and forth with him over this issue. He told us we would have to pay out another $500 to get a double oven on top of the $1197 we already paid him. We got a refund and went to home depot got a convection double oven for $1197. Steven is horrible and scams you into believing you are getting something your not. Then when all is said and done he doesn't fix the problem like a good business man should. 0 stars! Holy crap!!! Watch out for this company. They sent a tech to my home for a brand new dishwasher that was not working. The tech ultimately told us that we did not have enough hotter water and needed to install instant hot water for the dishwasher to run. He left saying there was nothing he could do. To be rated energy star the system can not use more than 6 gallons of hot water. We have a 40 gallon tank. I called the company to see what else could be done. Nicole who works in the office told my husband I was a liar etc. We called another company out and they informed us our motor was bad. This same tech had come to my mom's house and told her about the samething. When she got a second opinion her system was fixed. Not only do they not know what their doing they are terrible rude. My husband called over 4 times to try and addresse these issues with the owner Sreve. All 4 times he was told Steve was to busy and asked for a call back. Steve never returned our call. We filled up via email. They responded with, " sorry you were unsatisfied with our service." No apologies, no care to make anything right. Just a lame response with a coy response. However, what arrived on the truck (45 minutes after appointment window) was absolutely filthy! FILTHY!! So filthy in fact, bugs from the road trip were stuck in the grease that caked the sides of this thing. I called Steve immediately and was told the unit was ...and I quote here "Professionally cleaned". Seriously. Perhaps he should stand closer to it next time! The installation was anything but seamless as the ice maker coupling was...quoting the repair tech now "a bit older than what is used today". Wait..didn't you say this was a nearly new unit? The thing is running but the ice maker is very quirky and the internal temp is inconsistent. Since it is for a rental, nothing will likely be done about it - but I consider it fair warning to limit my business with Steve's less I get burned. read more

I have used Stevens a-z appliance more than several times and each time they sent the same incompetent tech. He not only could not diagnose the problems on my fridge and dishwasher, but he ordered parts that were not necessariy, costly and time consuming. Each time he came it took 3 to 4 calls to finally fix the problem. The last time a few weeks ago was the final straw, I finally asked for a different tech who did fix the problem. I will never use them again! The owner Steve is also very difficult to deal with, and does not seem to care about his customers, I guess if he's so busy , he feels there isn't a problem. There is nobody more knowledgeable about appliances than Steve. I bought a washer/dryer from him in 2009 (Frigidaire) and they are still working to perfection. Last year I bought a Frigidaire gas stove (am totally sold on Frigidaire products), and now am buying a (Frigidaire) side-by-side refrigerator. I wouldn't go anywhere else to buy an appliance. Steve knows his business inside out and will sell you WHAT YOU NEED, and tell you the relative pros and cons of the various brands. His prices are competitive with the big box stores, but what he offers is personal service -- it's a family run business -- that can't be matched at Best Buy or Home Depot. read more

Since 2003 I have purchased 15 appliances from Steve's. Up till 2009 the sales and service has been great. However my last 4 purchases have been plagued with problems. The last purchase was the worst, I purchased a Bosch dishwasher that Steve personally sold me. He said it was the quite model verses the other used one. So I paid the 50 dollars more for the "quite" Bosch dishwasher. Well from the get go, it was the loudest dishwasher I had ever had, or installed in my many renter units. On top of that the dishwasher has given me nothing but problems, and it was missing parts when I purchased it from Steve's A to Z and I have not gotten good service, or no service. I am sorry to say that after many years of loyal patronage I will no longer consider Steve's when looking for new or used appliance for myself or my renters. read more

They hung up on me because I had the nerve to complain that my debit card was double charged for a purchase I made at their store.
