The place is well-camouflaged in a residential neighborhood. However, if you're a musician and love to use a tube amp...you need to know about this place. The repairs there are the best. The turnaround time is fast and the prices are more than fair. A few years back, I was renting some gear to a well-known touring band. One of the amps, a solid state one chosen by the rhythm guitarist, needed some serious work. It just wouldn't start up! I took it to Don @ Phil's and had it back 3 days and less than $50 later. I was so impressed, I took another amp, a 4x10 Fender tube amp, in to get the speakers looked at. They were shot. Don was going to re-cone them...but called me later with a surprise. He came across a new-in-box set of original replacements. Parts and labor? $200. That's nothing for a job like this! I've since taken a few amps there. Need an organ fixed? He can do that too. A friend had a Hammond C3 redone there. Cool old TV or Hi Fi or antique radio? He can fix those. Need that impossible to find vintage tube or capacitor? Chances are he has it...possibly a box of them. Its like stepping back to the mid 60s walking in there. Its not flashy at all. Just lots of shelves with tubes and stuff. Tube testers. Stacks of projects lined up. It's a gear-head's dream in there. This place is the real deal and best of all, Don is as honest as they come. His prices are unbelievably fair. He's also a musician and a really interesting guy to talk to. Every time I stop in, I lose at least an hour or more. If you need the work done...go to Phil's. You can tell him I sent you but you don't have to. You'll be glad you went there!

I'll admit, they were slightly more expensive than the quote I got from another store, but this place was worth the extra money. While we were waiting for the repair, they offered us complimentary drinks, I made the offhanded remark that I was fine, unless there was a specific drink, knowing that there wasn't. However, with me even realizing, the manager sent one of the employees next door to the store to actually purchase the exact drink that I mentioned. He walked in 5 minutes later and handed me the drink. It was so thoughtful. I was very grateful. While in there I told my husband we should get him a new case and screen protector. Then we were told that the price for the screen replacement INCLUDED a new case and screen protector! (I had planned on purchasing one!) DirecTV through AT&T is the worst service we've ever had in the last 30 years. We moved to a new…read morehouse on the north side of Boardman, cut the cable and decided to stream. AT&T told us that the 5 MPS package would be good enough to stream on a smart TV. Wrong story. After calling them a dozen times or more and getting their Phillipino call center, we couldn't get anything resolved. Finally, after three months, they told us to try the next step up. However, for us that meant adding 1 MPS for another $20 a month. The end result? The same thing. Constant buffering. As much as this grieves me to say, AT&T engaged in fraudulent sales techniques. They said we could stream but what they sold us is crap internet and egregiously poor customer service every time we called. I would never recommend AT&T internet to anyone. Ever!
