The dentist, Dr. Chan, is caring and professional. I never once got scared or pushed into unnecessary treatments. The staff are kind and caring. I would recommend Dr. Maria as she is clear about the overall procedure and would make sure your comfortable before she begins. That is very important for me as I do not sit well when i'm nervous cause of the needles or sounds. However, my experience was marred by a subsequent interaction with a receptionist on Saturday, July 12th, at 9:05 am, who was difficult, unfriendly, unempathetic, and rude. I had concerns regarding my wisdom tooth and was seeking a brief consultation with the doctor, but the receptionist was unaccommodating, suggesting I book an appointment instead. Upon calling back to ask a question, I was informed that the doctor recommended I visit a specialist, which was not relevant to my concern about my wisdom tooth. I was extremely disappointed by the receptionist's behavior, which was a stark contrast to the helpful and compassionate service I received the previous day. As a paying patient, I expect a certain level of professionalism and respect. Unfortunately, my experience was subpar, and I would not recommend this dental clinic to anyone in Canada. I have traveled extensively and lived in various places, and this was the most disappointing experience I've had. I called back to address the unprofessional behavior, but my call was not returned. I saw both Dr Jozef Labedzki and Dr Ming Liu at this dental clinic and both are equally good. My…read morefriend recommended Dr Liu when I was lamenting about finding a good dentist in Vancouver. My previous dentist is no longer practising and the two dentists I saw at two different clinics were not very good in diagnosing. So I fractured my molar and the receptionist managed to fit me in for an emergency consultation with Dr Liu. Kudos to that. I had a CT scan done and it looked like a root canal would be required and maybe an implant if the tooth could not be saved. Dr Liu referred me to Dr Labedzki as his schedule was packed and the next available time he had would be a week later. Dr Labedzki also took a look at my molar on the same day and took an additional x-ray (at no extra charge to me) for a detailed diagnosis. From the scan and x-ray, he had the same opinion as Dr Liu - likely root canal plus a crowning. I have a phobia of implant after my last experience a few years ago. I saw Dr Labedzki a couple of days later for the procedure and he took the time to properly freeze the affected area so that the pain would be minimized. In the end, a root canal was not required as it was not affected after all. A temporary restoration was done to the molar after the fractured part was removed and he recommended to do a crowning at a later date to protect the tooth better. Through my experience with both dentists, I find that they do put the patients' teeth first and will try to save it. They also do not charge extra or unnecessary items (maybe because I do not have insurance coverage) and I appreciate that. So yes, I have finally found a dentist whom I can go to for regular check up now.

From the moment you check in, the staff are extremely friendly, kind and personable while being professional. The hygienist I saw was Natasha and not only was she super sweet and kind, she was full of helpful suggestions such as how to floss properly (she demonstrated it while I held a mirror so I could see). The dentist I saw is Dr. Shivji (junior). You can tell that he is confident in what he does and has great knowledge. Not only is her super personable but he is honest- he will not recommend getting things done that you don't really need just to make more money for the business (as I have experienced at other dental offices in the past). I get anxious about feeling anything when getting fillings and he was very gentle and reassuring, always checking to make sure I was doing ok. I trust him to give me good dental advice. Again, I cannot say enough good things about everyone working at Alpha Dental and my only regret is not being a patient here sooner.

The problem was that it was a filling on a baby tooth with no adult tooth to replace it (surely a byproduct of inbreeding). Since this once-invincible baby tooth no longer had a filling holding it together, it started falling apart in little chunks...not the most pleasant experience. It was awkward eating, things were constantly getting stuck in there and I realized that my dream of looking like a pirate could come to fruition at the tender age of 32. Gah. So not ready for this destiny. My friend James suggested that I see his dentist and I jumped to contact him. I gave the office a call, they worked around my schedule, staying late at work so that they could see me that very day. Ah-may-zing. Within 30 mins --if that-- my snaggly-crumbly tooth was transformed into a brand spanking new, full tooth. Insane. So smooth, so perfect. Chewing was/is basically euphoric. I don't know how they did that so quickly and perfectly but basically I'm happily indebted to them for saving me from needing to poke out my eye and purchase a parrot. I can continue being compared to plus-sized redheaded celebrities instead of Captain Jack Sparrow. Things could be worse. Kensington Dental Clinic for the win!
