Nice vibe, but I'm not very impressed with the food. I've visited on two occassions this year to have a meal with friends before heading to shows at the Prudential Center. The vibe is nice but the food just does'nt wow me. We particularly choose Tinjune because of its proximity to the arena. Moreover, it's a convenient place for us to meet since we are coming from all over the tri-state area. Parking can be a little tough but it's doable. The establishment seems to be a mixture of a sports lounge and restaurant, offering a casual fare of entertainment including boozy brunch, opportunities to watch a game on their TVs, or simply catch up with friends over drinks. The menu features Asian fusion dishes with some caribbean and soul food influences. During our first visit in July, we stopped by during brunch. It was a lively vibe with a great live DJ, mature crowd, and an eclectic menu. We were seated at a booth in the corner of the dining area which was also in the way of sunlight. In addition, the fans above were not working which made the area hot. Nonetheless, we sat thru it as the alternative seating being offered was no better. We skipped appetizers and got straight to entrees. I ordered the General Tso Chicken with white rice along with water. It was'nt bad but it also was'nt great. Visually, the chicken was swimming in a lot of sauce. Moreover, the sauce was watery. The chicken seemed to be cuts of breast that were tossed in a sweet chili-like sauce, perhaps sautéed since the texture was mostly soft. I wish it had been fried first then tossed in the sauce to give it better texture. I liked the texture on the broccoli, it was cooked with a slight crunch just the way I like. When paired with the soft, white rice, things came together nicely. Fast forward to our most recent visit in November. On this visit, I decided to dive into the menu a bit more and have an appetizer and entree. To start off, I had the Thai Chili wings. They were delicious and prepared well. The wings had a nice crispy exterior and juicy flesh. The sauce was sticky and coated the wings well, just like I prefer. For the entree, I went for the Wok Stir fry consisting of Lo Mein and steak. Again, the meal was swimming in a lot of sauce. For me, Lo Mein should have a little sauce to it but this was more like soupy gravy. I could literally use my spoon to scoop out the sauce and sip it which altogether, makes the meal soggy over time. The veggies were bright and prepared nicely but I was'nt a fan of the steak. It tasted as if it was thrown in at the last minute, so there wasn't much texture or seasoning to it. A little more sear to it would've been perfect. In terms of service, that was ok. Some periods of our dining experience were slow and we struggled to get our servers attention at times. Pricing was fair and the portions reflected a good value but they charge 15% automatic gratuity and a surcharge for using your card which I'm not a fan of. Overall, I've had ok experiences. I was not thoroughly impressed by the food but it hit the spot in the moment. I would return for the convenience, but I wouldn't go out of my way to visit nor would I immediately recommend to others. read more

This was an egg-cellent brunch. I definitely have to come back for dinner. This is my second time at this establishment and it may be my new local favorite. The decor is modern and beautiful with a DJ playing classic R&B vibes setting the perfect ambiance. Already at a great start, my group ordered Bellinis. They were perfect, we ordered bellinis throughout the entire brunch. For Apps, we got the char-broiled oysters and deviled eggs. I love oysters, raw or charbroiled. The sauce on the oysters was amazing especially drizzled with a little chili oil. I wanted to order a whole plate for myself. The sauce is creamy and zesty. I would've loved that sauce on some linguni topped with oysters. It would be the star entree 5/5. My friend's ordered the deviled eggs and they enjoyed them as well. The shrimp and grits and oxtail and grits were also delicious. The grits were creamy and soft, which was a nice vessel to carry the cajun sauce and the sauce with the oxtails. The tenderness of the oxtail was very much appreciated. Oxtail's aren't my favorite cut of meat so I will rate it 4/5. I ordered the lobster tail with the sweet potato waffle. It was very balanced the pairing of the savory fried lobster tail and sweet waffle was delicious 5/5. Originally I was a bit eerie trying the lobster tail since I'm not the biggest fan, but I'm glad I tried something new. Service was great my waitress was attentive and everything came out in a timely manner. All and all save a table for me, I will be back. read more

The Saturday before last, we had a dinner reservation for 7:00 pm. The day before, I received a reminder email about our reservation. Upon arrival to the restaurant, we saw it was packed with people and there was a sign on the door indicating it was closed until 8:00 pm for a private event. No one had reached out prior to let us know. This was a real disappointment. A few days later, I reached out to them via email and requested a response as to how this could have happened. To date I have not received a response. We will not return here again. It's a shame as we had visited last summer and really enjoyed our meal, but customer service is really important and they missed the mark this time. Met a friend for happy hour. Oysters were delicious. They were on the happy hour on Wednesday. The service was great, bartenders were really kind and attentive. The vibes and music was also great set for a great hump day mood changer. Really enjoyed this place. Will be back whenever I'm in Jersey. I came here for a tech event that was being hosted here. The vibe was nice, fun and felt welcoming with the music the DJ was playing. The service was good for the amount of people they had at the bar. Wish they had more helping out but that's ok. They offered some appetizers like wings, eggrolls, etc. I had the eggrolls and it was good especially with the dipping sauce they provided. Overall it was good. I was excited to try this new restaurant in Newark, and it's black owned. When I arrived I was lucky to find parking in the area. I walked in, and the ambiance was very nice. I found my group and sat. Brianna was our server/bartender, and she was nice. I started with the $5 mimosas, and it was good. I also got the lemon drop martini. For my meal, I got the shrimp and grits. The meal looked super good, and it was tasty. My friends enjoyed their meals as well. The only complaints I heard were that the oxtail for the bao buns was a little dry, and the wings were cooked too hard. The bill was bad all in all. We had a pretty good experience. read more

Beautiful location, very spacious. However the quality of service was lacking depth. Service took forever, I had to ask too many times for drinks, and my check. I felt like I begging to pay the bill. I understand there maybe times that are not too busy but the staff should remain professional at all times. It seemed like the Bartenders were more inattentive to their (Friends) it seemed . We all love a fun work environment however Your operations is not a playground. Service would be more fluent if the operations were managed properly. Also a woman approached me as she entered the establishment. She seemed polite, however wasn't the case. While I sat at a section with my food and drink, she slaps a METAL RESERVED sign on my table, in the middle of my service. SUPER passive aggressive. She explained the section was reserved for a large party, in which I had total understanding of. I would've graciously removed myself if the space was needed. However I was sat by the host which indicated my choice of seating was okay . I was just me. (I moved from the bar previously because the employees & their friends were super loud). I politely asked what time is the reserved reservation, so I can move at an efficient time. The lady said a (6pm) . She approached me at 4pm . This is significant time difference. Assuming the woman is a manger or apart of the operations team. I was taking back at her approach regarding service. It was not inviting. As management you should never approach a customer when you are just entering the establishment, unless there is an de-escalation duty that needs to be performed. Food was great though read more
