When the idea of a shared substitute pool through a temp agency came up, I was concerned that with the teacher shortage we would not get good candidates. TES took on the task of advertising and recruiting candidates and uses it's dedicated staff to make calls to subs quickly and efficiently. They were to look at pictures and information and let me know if they could handle my case (which also was affecting many of my neighbors), but instead wanted me to pay hundreds of dollars without any indication that they had the experience or knowledge or prior case work to support their website claims of specialization in regulatory takings. In short, it smells like a fee grab without any serious interest, when I was bringing them a potential class action from an entire town of aggrieved taxpayers; i.e. big money.

My parents are elderly and I have been managing their estate affairs and long-term care planning. I have sought help with Underberg and Kessler. My experiences with them have been unsatisfactory. I've had to work with over 4 different lawyers because of turnover. Each time a new lawyer gets assigned to the case-file, I have to pay lots of billing hours for them to get up-to-speed on our files. I've found that they withhold information for me-- even when I ask directly for advice or how the law/policy is set up for the various medicaid, insurance, and tax issues are. I know that they are withholding information because I've had later conversations with long-term care providers who outline the processes and legal issues completely--- advice I went to the lawyer to the Underberg and Kessler lawyers for that they did not provide me. It may be that they were not withholding information but rather just didn't know how to consult or provide advice on the issue--- but of course they never said that but did sent me hefty bills for time working on our issues. I had one very troubling experience where the lawyer for the firm showed up in a death-bed situation where my family had to sign paperwork and had to prepare a stroke victim and nurses to get him up and prepared for the meeting with the lawyer and the lawyer showed up with the wrong paperwork. This was not just unprofessional but insulting. Overall, the help and consul that I've gotten from Underberg and Kessler is much less than what I would expect for what I've paid them. If you can avoid working with them, I'd recommend it.
