I had spent hours ahead of time scouting out their website to create a shopping list of plants that I wanted, and I'm glad that I did, as I otherwise would have been overwhelmed by the sheer variety that they offered. I wanted to make sure that I was buying plants that were deer and rabbit resistant. I found that they had in stock about 95% of the plants that I wanted, which pleased me greatly. We were asked several times if we needed help, but no one was pushy about it. When it was time to check out, when the gentleman found out I was there because I had a Lawns 2 Legumes grant, he printed out a second receipt that included my personal information as well, making proof of purchase all the more blatant when it comes time for me to submit my grant packet. I've now had the plants in the ground for a few weeks, and everything is doing well--no doubt, the sheer amount of rain that we've had as helped! I'm excited for some of the plants to start blooming soon. I'd go to Out Back again if I was making another large purchase of native plants.

I've always been a fan of the outdoors and especially doing yard work. I remember trying to mow the…read morelawn as short as I could when I was growing up. Not so I wouldn't have to do it again soon but because I wanted the lawn to look like a golf green. After being scolded a few times by my parents I stopped trying to make our lawn look like a golf green or the outfield grass at a baseball field, and mowed it properly. As I grew up and eventually found my own home, that same passion continued. I like having our yard look nice. While we enjoy a variety of outdoor type stores, we have become fans of Zywiec's. Zywiec's is a family owned landscape and garden center located right off of Hwy 61 in Cottage Grove. We always try to support local establishments and love family owned placed. Zywiec's has been in business for over 30 years. They have all the usual products that you would need for landscaping and gardening. They also have hayrides, a corn maze and other activities. Their prices are very reasonable and we feel on some items they are almost underpriced. We have purchased mulch, rocks, bricks and grass seed to name a few items. Their service has always been fast and friendly. The hardest thing might just be trying to pronounce their name correctly. For some reason I just call them "Zoiks" from Scooby Doo. We've been here several times and we'll sure be back again soon.

Ironically, as a side note unrelated to their regular business, during halloween we purchased some pumpkins here (not to carve, just as decor with the carved ones) and the pumpkins here outlasted those I bought at a patch and were better color and shape as well.

Swap meets are a common thing in the south...For some odd reasons, this doesn't occur very often in…read moreMN, especially around Minneapolis. Just weird. This is a wonderful swap meet! Yes, it is a little out of the way from Minneapolis. Go early and have a wonderful road trip. Fun for everyone.
