I'm honestly torn writing this because this place has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I've been going to this hobby store since the 1980s when I was just a kid, going there with my late father. It was one of those places that helped build a lifelong love for RC cars and the hobby itself. Now, decades later, I genuinely enjoy taking my own children there and sharing that same experience with them. It's something really special to me and my family. That's why this situation has been so hard. I dropped off an RC truck for repair and expected it might take some time. What I didn't expect was how long it actually took -- months and months passed while I waited. Eventually, when I called to check on it, I was told the truck had already been surrendered after 90 days. That news was absolutely heartbreaking. This wasn't just a piece of equipment to me. It was something I had invested a lot into and something tied to years of enjoyment in this hobby. I understand that businesses have policies, and I don't doubt they have rules in place, but learning about it only after the fact made the loss feel even worse. What makes this especially difficult is that I truly love this store. It's been part of my life story from childhood to now as a parent. I honestly can't imagine not going there anymore, and that's what makes this situation so emotionally complicated for me. I'm not posting this to attack anyone. I'm just really torn and hurt by how this played out, and I wish there had been more communication before it reached that point. read more

Great store with a wide selection and solid customer service. I stopped in specifically for some Gundam models, and the selection did not disappoint--plenty of kits across various grades and series. They really cater to a broad range of hobbies, which makes it a fun place to browse even beyond what you came in for. Prices were reasonable for the items I browsed and purchased. My husband had a project he was doing for his engineering class and needed to find a little motor for a toy car. After walking around for about ten minutes we came to learn the vastness of hobby potential!! I was never into model cars, trains, or airplanes growing up but could totally see myself getting into it now that I know where to get all the goods!! Did some Christmas shopping here recently, and it continues to be as awesome as awesome can be. A woman in line in front of me had called and put something away on layaway. While the guy ran to get it she was glancing around, and when he came back she said: "Can you hold on to it for a while? I want to look around. I had no idea the store was like this." They had a hard to find item in stock from one of their locations after I sent an email to see if they had it. This is a fun store with a ton of things to look at. They have a small play area with Thomas Trains for the kids. The prices are about normal not to high. Its very clean, Down side is no public bath room , no carts and no garbage cans. The staff watch you like a hawk . Maybe they have a shoplifting problem. All and all 3 stars read more

This is the nerdiest place with the most sweet customer service people ever! had taken a spiritual animal class and was looking for little zebras or butterflies. The female employee walked down aisle after aisle and showed me stuffed animals, stuffed animals on clearance, paint kits, scratch off waxy black metal thingy kits, animal figurines, paint by number animals. As we wandered about I saw tea sets for little kids, recycled plastic toy trucks, family games, the Pokémon cards my 12-year-old came here to buy, old fashioned car painting kits, make your own miniature toy train people and trees, I'm getting dizzy just trying to remember everything. This was a huge store. The male employee helped us find a bathroom and gave us a card for their other location and said they will happily transfer products between stores for us and was just overall super friendly and helpful. If my kids weren't teenagers who spend most of their lives on electronics, I would be here all the time! read more

I finally signed up for Yelp so I could leave this review... I went to Hub Hobby to purchase an RC car for my son with only very basic research and knowledge under my belt. Right away the store felt inviting and professional. When the folks at the RC counter asked if they could help with anything I smirked because I knew I was about to barrage this poor guy with dozens of 101-level questions. I expected, at best, dry knowledge conveyed with a tired and rehearsed mechanical tone... Not so much! The staff was super knowledgeable and more importantly, obviously passionate about RC-everything. They answered every question I had then took the time to dig into my plans and goals so they could guide me to exactly what I needed. There was no upselling or other sales bs involved. I haven't felt this well-treated in a retail environment in a very long time! I bought a RTR short track truck, charger and spare battery. Unfortunately, the charger was defective. I figured it was user error (it usually is with me), returned to the store and walked them through exactly what I did and what happened. They concluded it was defective and warrantied out a new one on the spot, then tested to verify everything was good before I left. Yes, I could probably get things cheaper online but this kind of service is worth real money to me. I will absolutely be returning for my next car and/or service and parts. read more

If you like planes/model rockets/and other gizmos this is your kind of place. Honestly I just came here to buy some Cyanoacrylate. There have more variations than you can shake a stick at (and probably the sticks to shake if I cared to have one). It comes in various formulations and viscosities. There are also a variety of applicators to assist you. I whistfully glanced at the model rockets as I left - some things you just grow out of as you age - but you still miss. read more

This is a large, brightly-lit hobby shop, that caters to people who like things like games and little toy animal models as well as things like rocketry or model railroading. It is at the end of a strip-mall building just north of highway 36 and Rice street. If you don't feel comfortable visiting Scale Model Supplies in St. Paul, you should be fine here. Most of what I've looked for is model-railroading-related, but while they have a good selection, it isn't as extensive as Scale Model Supplies' selection. They will gladly order anything for you that they don't have. They do have an extensive set of tools and raw materials in the forms of plastic, scale lumber, and so on. You just won't find a huge selection of HO buildings, for example. Definitely well worth a visit if you are into different crafts or hobbies. Prices are comparable to Scale Model Supplies' prices. If you can't find something here, though, consider a visit to Scale Model Supplies. I often find I'll visit them equally, depending on what's closer, or how esoteric the thing I'm seeking. read more

Spent over $1000 on Traxxas 4x4 Slash Ascender Blazer and accessories the 4x4 seizes up in less than a week drove 1 hour back to get assistance with the car and was told just go online to traxxas we can't help. So I called Kremer Hobby in albertville mn they took the car with our receipt and handled it with Traxxas for us and explained the process. Shame on Hub Hobby they were to busy eating in front of customers bowls all over the counter. Unprofessional and do not care about service after the sale. I run an automotive dealership with the highest customer satisfaction for our brand in the state and this hub Hobby needs to learn about service after the sale. I went to Kremer gave them the Traxxas then bought the Losi desert buggy and Losi Baja Rey hub Hobby lost a big sale and a customer. Get it together your team is failing your customers. read more

These folks are saving my life! We have always loved HUB, but now we can't live without them. With the kids out of school for COVID, my 15 year old is going stir crazy. I have been buying kits--any and all kinds--to keep him busy. The folks at HUB have been doing video chat with my son and me... We set up a Facetime call, tell them in general what we want, and they walk us down the aisle and show their selection. We choose the kit, pay by credit card, then drive down and pick it up curbside. Hub Hobby is the place to go in the cities if you need a hobby related item. I was looking for some tube weights for my son's pinewood derby car. I was surprised at the selection they had. These people are amazing! They're helpful, knowledgeable, friendly, and more! I have purchased many things from them over the years but my wife and I recently went in with our 1 and a half year old to get more track for his train set. The man that helped us was extremely knowledgeable and even recommended community events with trains that our son may like. We ended up just talking with him for nearly half an hour, not just about trains either! I would recommend this place to anyone looking for great service with knowledgeable staff! Beware the buyer. I decided to dabble in the RC truck world - mostly for fun and to bash around on the local tracks with my friends. I explained this to the people behind the RC counter when I came into store. Friends had all told me to buy a Traxxas - but Hub staff had assured me that for the casual user (me) the ECX Torment would be great and had a cheaper entry price point. I trusted their judgement and made the purchase. A week later I came back in asking about a longer-lasting battery than the stock model supplied. I was sold an 11.1 Lipo after being told it was the best battery for my particular truck. Weeeellllll, the truck wasn't set up for that battery which I only learned after charging it and trying to drive. Trip back to Hub where they treated me like a dummy for buying the battery in the first place but were kind enough to exchange for a compatible Lipo. On the 4th time of using the truck, the motor burned out. So I brought the truck in hoping for a warranty on the motor (silly me) and getting nothing but blank stares and a "looks like your motor is toast". Dead silence and dead stares after that. When I asked if there was any kind of warranty I was gruffly told I could try mailing it to the manufacturer to "see if they will do something" while walking away from me. In my rookie opinion, I think they are not that knowledgeable about the RC stuff they sell and give zero support after the purchase. Sorry Hub, I will order my stuff online from now on. read more

I brought in my xxr gas powered truck to goet tuned up and running as it had sat for a couple of years and was only used about three 6 hours when it purchased new. I asked them what parts I would need and how to start it. They would not even look at it until I agreed to have "Rob" look at it for $20 hr and $50 for a start and tune. I had to leave it there for five days and when I got it back my bill was $82+ and he told me I needed a new gas tank. I went and got a new tank put it on and it would not run. I went and dropped it off for three more days and he told me I may need a new carb. but he would try to get it running. It was going to take some time there was no way he could get it running in a day or two more. I went down asked him to work with me on this that I already spent over $300 and it was not tuned. It was almost new when it got there. I left with my truck and went down the road to HobbyTown USA and the guy looked at it turned some screws on the carb. it started right up no charge to me and then he took the time to explain to me how to maintain and tune it my self. read more
