Please don't go to this shop. I called and made an appointment yesterday to have a muffler and tailpipe replaced. When I arrived, they acted like they had never heard of me, even though I had made an appointment less than an hour previous. The man behind the counter told me he would call me with an estimate once they had looked at my vehicle. I waited over an hour for the call, which never came. Finally, I returned to the shop, where the same man told me that he had tried to call me, but that my phone was disconnected. It most certainly is not, as was confirmed by my girlfriend calling me five minutes later. Finally, he quoted me $800 to replace the muffler and tailpipe. I took my keys and left. Another shop quoted me $225 for the same work an hour later. This shop is clearly scamming its customers and has no interest in quality or customer service. Please please avoid. read more

I was traveling. One tire was losing pressure slowly throughout the day. To be safe I stopped in here to have them look at it. They said the tire had a huge hole in it. Said I would need a new tire. They couldn't show me because they put the tire back on. Really??? Who does this with a waiting customer? They try to sell me on four new tires instead of one. Call me crazy but I'm not buying new tires hundreds of miles from home. I get them to put on one new tire. In the process they break my tire pressure monitor for that tire. They claim the warning light was on before they serviced it. Ok, if that's true why didn't you inspect the tire pressure monitor on that tire??? Avoid this place if you want honest people doing work on your car. read more

I went in tonight around 5:30/6 because my brakes completely went out. Frustrated because I had just taken them to NTB a week before and they said my brakes were fine. The guys at monro immediately looked at my car and explained what was wrong and why. Apparently I'd been driving without a rear passenger brake pad that NTB forgot to put on. I was shocked when they told me they could fix it for me, that evening with out hesitation. Which meant they would stay an hour and a half late to make sure I got on the road safely. Just no. Had to go in several times to get my brakes done right. Then ended up with a cracked tire rim. Never got refunded for the crappy job they had done originally and am essentially out 400 bucks. Last place I'd ever recommend, which is sad because the Monro in Massachusetts was so great. read more

No integrity! The mechanics broke my glove box door while in my car; splintered one of the plastic hinges so it can't be used. Of course, they denied it (the mechanic shouting obscenities from the other side of the glass window). After charging me $178 for the work they did (which lasted 1 week before breaking again), I'm worse off than before they touched my car. They have no integrity and I highly recommend that you NOT have work done here. read more

Very friendly, competent employees. We ran over a piece of metal on a highway and rolled in on the doughnut spare tire. They worked to fix the tire, but found a 1 x 1 in piece of metal embedded in the tire. They helped us get a reasonably priced new tire, replaced the ruined one in record time and got us on our way. I have had my maintenance on my car done at Monroe in Athens for almost 2 years. I will not go back after my experience yesterday. I walked in and was told "40 min" for an oil change. 1.5 hrs later it was done. They stopped working on my car to service 2 other cars for people who had also walked in while I was waiting. My car has grease stains on the seat from the mechanic not placing a protector on it while he moved my car in and out of the service bay. I also have no clue what kind of oil is in my less than 2 yr old engine right now. I asked for semi-synthetic, the receipt says synthetic and the guy who did the oil change asked as he was checking me out "now what kind of oil did we use?" Really??? Also, the receipt indicates that a tire rotation was done. It wasn't. I had a clear view of the service area from the waiting room and none of the tires came off the car. He also came in the waiting area at one time to tell me what a "pain in the ass" it was getting the cover off of the oil pan. This place has definitely went downhill. read more

My girlfriend went in for an oil change and walked out being sold on $740 worth of "repairs". My girlfriend is an extremely nice and accommodating person and they certainly took advantage of that. What's worse is fifty miles after their "thorough check-up" the four wheel drive on our vehicle suddenly went out. When I went in and complained they spouted some stuff about how you never can tell when that will happen - which makes it easy to sabotage, no? Instead of apologizing for the hard sell on my girlfriend and offering to fix the 4-wheel drive for free, and/or offering a voucher on future service, the manager offered to give me a half-hour discount on the labor to fix the 4-wheel drive. After they had already scored over $260 in labor fees! (They charge $96/hour for labor, and they way inflated the hours billed also, so his half-hour discount would have really meant they were charging me $96/hour for the actual amount of time spent instead of the fake time. The manager admitted that they usually charge for an hour of labor for the procedure to fix the 4-wheel drive even though it only takes half an hour.) Finally, when I drove away, five minutes later the check engine light went on! I recommend avoiding them at all costs; if you need an oil change, watch them closely or you may end up finding something else wrong before long. read more

They try to rip you off!! I went with a flat tire and the employee at Monro told me I had to replace all 4 tires to get the same size. It was going to be around $560. When I called my stepfather for confirmation, he told me that was a lie. I pressed the employee about it and he changed his story. Then I tried to confirm that he didn't have my size tire. He now said they did have the size but he recommended replacing all 4 tires because most people like having the same brand of tire. It was ridiculous! I then went to Walmart and got the tire replaced for $65 without a problem. read more

Oil changes include a brake inspection(it's right there on the invoice) but less than a month after my oil change, I had to pay to have new front pads and rotors installed, at another garage, which tells me that the brakes had not been inspected. Was the oil actually changed? The filter? Tires rotated? How can I trust they did anything for the money I paid? When I returned to this shop for satisfaction, the manager just mumbled and had no explanation; the guy ahead of me was complaining about his oil change and saying he would not come back... and neither will I. I made an appointment on a friday for my girlfriend to go and get new tires from this store. I specified which tire and size we wanted, and was quoted a reasonable price. When she arrived they knew her and her car, but didn't "know" which tires she was supposed to get. They then tried to tell her that for the price she was quoted she could only get Auto Grip brand tires. Bait and Switch. I wouldn't let these folks wash my windows. read more
