We were traveling with a family of four and a family of three, and had reserved appropriately sized rooms. Instead, we were given tiny, cramped rooms that barely fit two people. Yet the hotel still charged us extra for the additional guests--with zero regard for the fact that the rooms were completely inadequate. Even worse, the rooms--and the hallways--were filled with a strong, nauseating smell of cigarette smoke. The rooms were supposedly non-smoking, but it was clear that nothing had been done to enforce or maintain that standard. If we had stayed longer, our young daughter would have gotten sick from the constant exposure to the smoke. It was that bad. The management was nowhere to be found, and the staff showed absolutely no concern or effort to fix anything. Every complaint was met with cold indifference. Not only were we forced to leave the hotel due to the conditions, but we are still fighting with the hotel to receive a refund for the remaining nights they failed to deliver on. This hotel is a disgrace to the Marriott name. It is run with no care for the guest experience, no attention to cleanliness or comfort, and absolutely no accountability. If you care about your health, your comfort, and your money--avoid this hotel at all costs. There are far better options in Istanbul. This was the worst hotel experience we've ever had.

The food itself is fine, very varied and better than most hotels, but the staff's care made it special. The concierge team was very effective and highly knowledgeable. Sultan always greeted us with a large smile, answered every question we had for him, and and very quickly and efficiently helped us organize the last few days we had in Istanbul. The reception are helpful and get things done, but the staff, though kind and efficient, seemed somewhat frustrated and rushed. The rooms are tiny and but spotless and adequately equipped. Their housekeeping is very professional and trustworthy.. watching a bed remade perfectly in minutes was oddly satisfying.

Go out the front door right or left and find a boat load of good restaurants. Got coffee and small breakfast at the cafe right next door. Walked to the German Fountain and Blue Mosque and enjoyed a beautiful sunset there. Transportation to and from the airport was set up with the concierge. Of course there are cheaper ways to go but this was convenient and easy so well worth it. On site is also a small pool and massage establishment. We did not try them but looked inviting. Next time. We were greeted at the door by Ertan, the front desk staff on the weekend, and everyone we met was smiling, friendly, and professional! We had booked only two days before, but our rooms were side-by-side on the third floor and were ready early for us to check in. We were walking distance to the Grand Bazaar, the blue mosque, the trolley, and much much more. Halil, the headwaiter, was amazing! As was Handan, the cook in the rooftop terrace café/breakfast area. And what a wonderful rooftop terrace it was! I spent many hours there, both while enjoying wonderful breakfasts and Turkish tea and coffee, as well as while reading in the shade, looking out over the water and the rooftops of old town Istanbul. This is a wonderful place to stay if you want to explore the older part of Istanbul. Halil, Handan, and Ertan were especially outstanding during our stay, providing helpful advice, service, and friendship. I can't wait to come here again and stay at hotel Niles! A first great impression I will never forget. I absolutely loved the look of the hotel. It's exactly what I was looking for. It has a lot of personality and you feel like you're in Turkey. Beautiful architecture and intricate designs everywhere you look. The rooftop terrace was especially my favorite. All of the staff kept asking if we needed anything. Kemal provided us with so much information about where to go and directions on how to get to all of the destinations. There is a complimentary breakfast offer every morning. This was very convenient and the food tasted great. On one of our stays, Halil, greeted us back into the hotel after an exhausting day shopping at the grand bazaar. When we were in our room, Halil knocked on our door and surprised us with hot tea and a cut-up cheese stuffed Simit. We were so excited and we will never forget the top-notch service they all constantly provided us with. Also, we are animal lovers. There were two kittens living outside of Hotel Niles. The staff made a box for the kittens and fed them and provided them with water every day. We loved that. Shows how much they care =) The location of the hotel is excellent. All we had to do was walk up the street and we were at the grand bazaar, a tram station that you can take to get to other parts of Istanbul. Also, if you walk up the street, you will run into never-ending shops and kabob spots. It's amazing! Super convenient. I plan to come and stay at this hotel again. I miss it so much! It was my mistake booking through Priceline, I should have known better, but I certainly expected better service from a five star hotel. Management could care less about my predicament and consistently refused to make a phone call on my behalf. I spent an entire day on the phone with Priceline, who was willing to correct the situation, but unable to reach the appropriate staff As a result, I did not have the planned extra bedroom, Kitchenette or dining table (that I reserved and paid for!) and we had to make last minute arrangements. I have worked in hospitality for over ten years and can confirm that Hilton Bomonti is NOT hospitable.

Check in was easy and we received an upgrade to a suite (we're platinum members) which had a great view of the city! The hotel itself is very clean and has great water pressure (something you can't always be assured of in Turkey!). If you're flying into Istanbul you may call the hotel in advance and arrange for airport transport (something we took advantage of) for peace of mind upon arrival. If you only speak English I would recommend having the hotel call a metered cab for you as sometimes the cab drives may try to quote you a higher fare if you're a tourist. Most of the staff at the hotel speak English which was a nice bonus!

It wasn't easy for our transportation to find it though and we went around in circles before opting to just get out and find it on foot, at midnight, with luggage, but such is life. The room itself was not quite the luxury suite I had seen in the pictures, and although it was nice and spacious, it was definitely old, dated, and the bathroom needed a serious face-lift. Speaking of the bathroom, the door was odd and served as both the shower door and the entire bathroom door, depending on it's positioning, which resulted in some bathroom sharing issues between the two of us. The free breakfast in the morning seemed quite good, but alas our tour guide showed up early and we began the tour after only 3 minutes of checking out breakfast. Bags were stored until the end of our tour and our driver took us back to the airport which was great. The staff all seemed very pleasant and we felt very welcomed!

All of these sites are quite famous and usually take a long time to get in. But during November it is their low season so it was less busy than I have seen it before. Hotel Amira was also my first time staying at this boutique hotel which cost was quite reasonable. The only negative thing is maybe the stairs if you have heavy luggage you will need some assistance depending on which floor you get. We got the 7th room number which doesn't have an elevator to connect to that level. But besides that it was fine. The staff here is quite friendly and nice. If you have any questions just ask them and they will be able to help you out. The rooftop is closed though since it is cold but you can still go on top of it and take some photos of the view. It is fantastic to see the ocean on one side and also the mosque on the other. For a boutique hotel, the location, area, and being able to walk around at all the most famous places in Istanbul is quite nice!
