Updated review since this location came under new management earlier this year (spring 2025). I absolutely love Title Boxing Club and have really enjoyed the classes for going on two years now. Title offers a gym to get a great boxing workout, mainly in the form of the group classes. Classes are structured with a warm up (body weight exercises, mobility, and technique), followed by the 3-min boxing rounds, and then core and stretches. The boxing rounds always have a focus, whether it's building towards a combination or working on a technique. Each class is different so you're also never be bored or just repeating the same thing each time. Classes are adaptable to any skill level to push themselves and get a great workout, whether you're a beginner who has never tried boxing, or have been doing it for a long time. Private training is also available and the gym section is open to members outside of classes as well. If you're new, gloves will be provided for your first class and you'll get plenty of support so you can crush your first class. The coaches and management here are all so kind and supportive. They push you to do your best but don't treat anyone with disrespect, which wasn't always the case with the prior management. Shoutout to Travis, Elena, Eunice, Nafisha, and Carmen. This place is awesome! We were here for our most recent posture screening and the environment was so warm, welcoming, and fun! The community there is super strong, but newcomers were not only welcomed, they were well taken care of throughout their time there. Travis did a great job getting us settled, and front desk staff Cecilia and instructors Eunice and Elena all made us feel right at home. Truly an amazing team and an amazing place. As an individual who's been kickboxing for a few years and visited many boxing studios, I'm not a fan of this location. I'm referring to this specific Title, because I did end up becoming a member at a different Title location in Boston after not enjoying my experience here. Firstly, it's extremely cliquey. Very high school, Gossip Girl elite vibes on the weekend. I think it was enhanced by the instructor I had on the weekend, who truly did not pay attention to new comers and was strictly hanging out the whole time with members he knew. Because of the high school clique vibe going on here, I assume because locals of Back Bay are members here, it ends up feeling like you're hanging out at a bar instead of exercising. It would be difficult for a beginner to fit in here. Maybe check out a different location if possible! read more

I usually dont write reviews here, but for this one I had too. Okay let me say one thing, classes are great! no doubt about it! But when it comes to professionalism of the owner or manager, its really pathetic. Especially Cam, post COVID its been horror for small businesses. I was forced to pay more than 200$ for membership fees for which I didnt attend. I told them I want to put my account on hold as I didnt want to risk going to classes because of COVID, he did put it on hold for 3 months starting from July until 10/12/2020. This was the confirmation email - "Dear Rakshit Shah, You have requested your account be held until 10/12/2020. The term of your membership has been extended 3 months by the length of the requested hold. Your next full monthly payment will be processed on 11/10/2020. Refunds are NOT available for inactivity after the membership comes off hold. Thank you for choosing TITLE BOXING CLUB!" I got to know that I wont be able to continue Title, as things got changed for me. So later, I decided to cancel my membership. I asked for cancellation of my membership for almost 2 months(6th September) in advance before my hold period finishes, He still charged me and his reasoning was - "A membership has to be active to in order to be cancelled. It can't be two things at once. Either it is on hold or it is active. If it is active it can be cancelled with a 30 day notice. All of this is clearly written in your membership agreement." And when I asked for a copy of membership agreement, he doesnt reply back. I dont mind helping small business if they need but scamming people for there membership charges, its not you Cam. I was four minutes late to the class, and the front desk girl and a guy told me:1. I am not going to argue with you and you can't go the class, but also no refund.............. 2. This title boxing's front desk has really bad attitude, and it's policy doesn't make sense at all. First of all I was trying to call them because I want to try a class, and the person who pick up phone was totally acting like she doesn't want me to join them. Then I was using ClassPass to take a class with them and I was 2mins late, and they wouldn't allow me to take the class. They just started doing warm up and I was totally able to join the class.I was a membership in the Norwood's title boxing and this never happened before. More importantly, it's ok if I don't take the class but the staff at front desk was so mean and had a really shity attitude. Wouldn't go back again. read more

Came here for the 6:30am class with Ally and she was a GREAT teacher. The good: +personalized coaching; very hard teacher with only around 7 people in a class. +a lot lot lot of Cardio which is amazing! +a great balance of boxing but also abs at the end (a full 10 minutes or so) +MUSIC IS SO SO SO GOOD. +nice front desk person; a little salesy at the end trying to sell classes - the business should just sell itself but i get it, they are a business. DEF LOSING A STAR for the wrap charge. A class isn't "free" if you have to pay 10 dollars for the wraps. I actually would probably never have come if I knew it was 10 dollars for wraps. I am not sure I'll be a regular since this place is far from my apt, but it's annoying to think I dropped 10 dollars on something I will not keep or use. Overall my fave boxing gym in the Boston Area- def more easy to just roll up than EBF or Peter Welch's. Less intense, cute little area of Newbury, and classes start and end on time. Yay! read more

This place has, no joke, changed my life. I've been a member of Title since March, have done over 100 classes since, and I don't see myself stopping any time soon. The trainers are incredible here - Cam, Allie, Jon, and Jeff are always a joy to take classes with and push you in different ways. They've become like a second family to me and they go out of their way to help me get better, down to the finest details of every punch and kick. If you've never done a boxing class, come prepared for one of the hardest workouts you've ever had. Even though your first class is free, you do need to purchase $10 hand wraps but it's well worth the cost. Especially if you get hooked, like I did. read more

As someone who had never so much as touched a punching bag, I was pretty nervous about giving the Box 60 class a try. I have never - ever - had an hour of my life fly by so quickly. The class is very challenging but Aaron, the instructor, was really good about being encouraging without being condescending. If you're not in the best shape, he's not going to give you grief as long as you're giving it your all. I went from being nervous about this class to booking it every week. read more

This is the SoulCycle of boxing. If you're looking to learn how to box, this isn't the place. If you want a great conditioning workout that happens to use boxing to deliver it, this is a great way to do it. So as long as you know what you're getting into, it's a great workout. So some pros. This is an intense conditioning workout. You can vary the intensity to fit your goals/fitness. The class I took had eight 3 minute rounds with a 1 minute break between. The instructor kept calling out exercises (jump squats, jumping jacks, etc) during the breaks for people who wanted more. Personally, if I don't need a break after three minutes on a heavy bag, I wasn't going hard enough, so I got water during the breaks. But that's just an example of how you can vary the intensity based on your own goals. There were a couple things that made me raise an eyebrow though. I'm right handed, and I box orthodox (left foot forward). The instructor kept having the class reverse their footing (which I didn't do). I don't box southpaw, so I have no reason to practice it. But this is just a bit of evidence that the class isn't a real boxing training class. It's meant for people who are looking for a conditioning workout, and for a general workout, symmetry is good. On the other hand, the instructor did give some corrections to form that *are* good boxing technique, so it's not a total free-for-all in terms of form. Overall, I'd recommend trying it, even if you're a boxer. It gets some time on the heavy bag, and it works your conditioning hard. If you have a problem with something that they have you doing (like switching stances), just don't do it. Edit: the class I took was their free first class offer. From looking at their website, a single drop in class is $30, and you get slight discounts if you buy a pack of classes (down to just over $28 per class). For those rates, I wouldn't be interested. But hey, there's a free first class, so give it a shot. read more

Could not be more upset with my encounter at Title on Newbury. My group and I showed up at 12:25 for a 12:30 pm class and the doors were locked - we knocked on the door/were watching the people inside actively ignore us until the clock hit 12:30. At that time, someone came out and said the class started and we arent allowed in - even though we had been waiting outside well before the class had started. Absolutely atrocious service, no one answering our questions/phone calls for a refund. Nowhere in an email did it say we needed to be there at a certain time (as the worker said), only that our 12:30 class was confirmed. So frustrated with such awful service! I have been to so many other title classes in other locations and never had this problem. read more

#1 Title Boxing Club in the US. I was in town for a week and had a membership at the club in San Diego. The location is convenient. It's near the T and around a lot of shops. The gym itself looks and feels dark. There's no circulation or vent that I've noticed, so everyone's body odor is just marinating down there. They do have a strict policy: don't be late! Which is kinda inconvenient if you get off work at a weird time or if you get stuck waiting for a ride/train. I have a 40 minute commute and T times are kinda unpredictable. So... yeah. I was 10 mins late today and the guy just kinda let it fly by since I'm not from here but gave me a quick lil sermon. read more

TITLE Boxing Club - Class is in session! - Gyms Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

In all honesty, in the beginning I was excited to start. Great classes, great vibe, great workout. I went gung-ho and decided to sign up for a membership costing me 129 dollars a month for a year. Thinking, "hey, that's the price of most personal trainers, why not!" I went ahead. I was not informed of any month to month programs of the sort. I don't even know how people were only paying 80 dollars a month. Months pass and I fall ill and move back home- my body can't handle intense workouts anymore and I haven't attended in a while. Upon emailing the person who signed me up, she told me I couldn't cancel without coming in- only freeze the account. Well, that sucks for me, I don't even live near there anymore... So I keep paying, and had to freeze it a couple times. My mistake. Regardless, I called today because, suprise, sometimes you can't pay 129 a month and I'm sick of my money being taken away. I get rudely told "it never shows that you tried to cancel your account." Like, what?! Someone's going to write down that I tried to cancel but they told me no?? So I confirm I will not be charged and I was responded to shortly, "yes." And after a quick thank you, was never responded back so I hung up. Ridiculously awful customer service. read more

I went in 5 minutes late, and can not attend the class. Honestly did not know about this policy and feel really sad because already paid for the class and walked 40 minutes in cold weather. Front desk customer service is the worst I ever had. I honestly feel one "I am sorry" will make me feel much better, but instead the manager is really annoyed the whole time about me asking for joining in the class when I am late. And trying to teach me a lesson saying that if this is my work I should not be late. I just wish they know no one is better than others, and don't talk down to their customers like they don't know what's right . I have been going to Title since last Fall and I am really impressed by the workout. You start with cardio, then put your gloves on for 8 three minute rounds broken up by more cardio. Then, you end with core. It's a full body workout. The instructors are fun and really push you during class while emphasizing form. The studio itself is large and has lockers and bathrooms, with an entrance area with shirts and other merch. read more

Hi, I am writing to you to bring to your attention the behavior of your manager at Boston Newbury street club. The manager Cam is very unprofessional, disrespectful and I experienced harassment. It all started when he started shouting at me that I was late for the class for couple of minutes. I understand and respect this policy, but his behavior was frightening and rude. I asked if I can still join the class since they haven't started yet, and he started yelling at me saying he is dictating the rules of the club and he decides when the training started. He made me cry and didn't stop when he saw me crying. Today, I came back again and he was there. I brought my friend and showed him the business card that stated "first shot free", but he said that he doesn't want to give a free training for my friend. When I asked why, he just avoided the question, so we paid 25$. Then, when he was handing me the gloves, he called me sweetie which is comepletely unacceptable and sexist. He is no one to me and he has no right in calling me "sweetie" just because I'm a young female. It didn't stop there. When I asked him not to call me "sweetie", he responded "oh, I don't know what they call you in your country". I was shocked. this is harassment, discrimination and sexism. I hope you take every action to stop this person from talking to clients and provide him an opportunity to learn on how not to be sexist and communicate in a respectable manner no matter what sex, age or color. read more

Terrible costumer service upon first visit. On my way in, I was mimicked after saying a friendly "hello." When asked if I can purchase some items from their store, I was told that I couldn't as it was for "members only" and if I wanted to purchase anything, I would have to go to the next nearest location. The manner in which I was denied a sales was extremely unprofessional and very unhelpful. My consideration of trying out the gym and potentially becoming a member quickly went away after getting a cold shoulder from those working in the retail area. I left, disappointed as I was looking forward to not only purchasing hand wraps for boxing but also trying out the classes they have to offer. The customer service representative are the face of the gym and unfortunately, I never intend to go back to this gym again. read more

This was by far the worst customer experience I have EVER had. I will forever warn people about going here. After scheduling a free trial and commuting 35 mins on the bus to get to the studio, I arrived to the studio 11 minutes before the class started. The receptionist told me I could not be let in since the policy states you must arrive 15 minutes before. 4 minutes? I really have to turn around to go home because of 4 minutes? TITLE is willing to lose a customer in order to adhere to rigid guidelines. The class was not full on a Friday evening. My joining the class 11 minutes EARLY would not have affected the class experience. The receptionist was insistent no exceptions could be made despite explaining the bad luck I had circumventing a traffic accident and that I had travelled a long way just to get there. Save yourself the time and anger, and go to Everybody Fights in FiDi or Redline Fight Sports in Cambridge. This is an awful business that I'm sure will not last due to their despicable customer service policies. read more

Wow, just called to try to set up my first class here. First of all I had to call 3 times because the first two times the phone was answered, but they then hung up before I could even say anything. Second of all, I read online that you had to come a half hour early so they can touch base on how to wrap your hands and give you some information on the class. The person who finally answered the phone was not helpful or welcoming at all. She simply told me to just come at 4:30 and that's that. When asked if there's anything else I should know she was rude and completely unhelpful. I will not be going here. Horrible customer service...almost seems like they intentionally try to make you feel embarrassed. Heard a friend liking the classes and that the first try out class was $5 (it's $25) so I signed up online under "Try a Class." When I got what I thought to be a confirmation email at work, I didn't bother looking hard at it, only knowing that I had to be there a little early, but was generally told by people who have used Title before that you just walk in. In hindsight, I should have. My mistake. So when I got there that night, they gave me a hard time about not calling in advance and the manager/owner (I think that's his role, not positive) made it seem like the class was full and can't accommodate anybody else. Repeatedly saying to the receptionist along the lines of, "no she has to call. No she has to call. Check the guest list." The class was not full at all......all in all, it's just the way they asked certain questions and presented themselves talking to each other when I'm only two feet away. Address me, instead of talking as if I'm not there? And for a class that's not full, come on...I would understand it if it's full or almost, but there were plenty of bags open. But I guess the Newbury location beats the need for good customer service. Instructor was nice. With the fast pace, it's difficult to do all the reps and make sure you do them correctly so you don't injure yourself. That was not considered at all it seems. I joined a few weeks ago and what I don't personally like from the male trainers is all the swearing that they do, they swear a lot during the training we have which is totally inappropriate and I have heard a few racial jokes and i am saying this because I am a minority, I find this totally inappropriate, hateful and disrespectful. One of the trainers has actually had us repeat after him when he swears. There is no place for this in training, stick to the training please. Went for a Saturday morning boxing class. They had two instructors which was nice to have the one on one help. The pace was VERY FAST! If you aren't used to HIIT or boxing can be overwhelming. This place changed my perception of exercise. I gave it a try with the free class and I was hooked. The workout is intense and fun! I used to run 3-4 times/week at the most and I was intimidated at first but I gave it a try anyways. The exercises are hard but can be done and will get easier as you get stronger! After I saw the changes in my body, I was motivated to alternate with other workouts and I am now in pretty decent shape after a few months. The trainers are very good and most of the time check your form, even if there is a big group. I partly understand some of the bad reviews but I am leaving this one to be fair bc the place is nice and the trainers are so good. At times, some may be perceived as rude but they are not, they just say it like it is: do not come late and learn to wrap your hands! I personally like and prefer their sincere spirit. Some improvements could be considered: personal training sessions are on the higher price and maybe more customers would buy sessions if the prices were a bit lower but in all fairness I don't know the economics of these clubs; sometimes I feel like the trainers pay more attention to the new customers and it may be misleading because it will not continue to be like this BUT this is a business so I understand and overall, they do pick on older customers' form soemtimes...maybe double checking older customers a little bit more, would guarantee satisfaction of existing customers; difficult abdominal exercises ensure results but some are too hard and maybe they should provide alternatives for people with weaker abs. Finally, some consensus among the trainers in some of the ways they teach since, at times, some of the movements are taught by some and modified by others. I walk a mile to exercise here and it is a major stress release.... I definitely recommend it. The trainers are very good and the atmosphere is nice. read more

This morning an instructor, Cam Andrews, PAT ME ON THE ASS with his punching mit while I was working out. Any woman who takes workout classes led by men worries that there's a chance they will cross a line with their "instructing" and "assisting"--one that is confusing and easy to disregard. In fact, it would be all to easy to dismiss this very incident--I mean, it's just a sportmanlike pat on the ass right? It wasn't even his bare hand, what's the big deal? Well, the big deal is that I didn't consent to be touched--especially not on my ass--just because I walked in the door. When I walked in and saw that Cam was teaching this morning (apparently subbing for Allie--who is great and was marked on the calendar to teach this am) I almost walked out. This is because in the last (and only) class I took with Cam (also not intentionally--he was not marked on the calendar) he was extremely inappropriate: -called every woman "honey" and "sweatheart" (no little petnames for men in the class...) -was extremely flirtatious and predatory toward numerous women in the class (getting up in their faces, touching, teasing--not in a normal, coach-like way) -literally pinned one woman to the ground (had his arm completely across her chest while lying on the ground next to her with his face right next to hers) while she was doing sit-ups It's 2017, so I will not waste my time explaining why this is completely unacceptable. I would love to continue boxing at Title, because it's a great workout and my experiences with other instructors and employees have been nothing but professional. (I do think it's odd that in a gym that boasts 80% women classes, that there is only one female instructor...but anyway.) I hope that Title Newbury will take action so that other women are not violated by Cam during his classes. read more

I've never done a boxing class before, but had heard great things from two coworkers who frequent the North Station location. I was extremely nervous to give this a try because I am not very active. Im so glad I ignored my anxiety and went to class. I had Skoly as my instructor and she was awesome! The nice thing about this class is that even though it can get crowded, it's really about doing your best and I felt no one was judging me. They have 2-3 instructors walking around, applying corrections and challenging individuals. Everyone is very friendly from the moment you walk in to when you leave. The music was also great - lots of hip hop in my session, a marked change from the Pure Barre and soul cycle classes. It definitely a full body workout--you will work your arms, legs, and core nonstop. HIGHLY recommend. The only downside is the cost -- per session cost is $30, so I would look into the membership program they offer. read more

Great workout with good music that keeps you pumped for the entire class! I feel so refreshed and stress relief after every workout although I'm always dying during the last 15 min abs workout. Overall, a good cardio session. Coaches are great. However, one main reason I didn't give the club 5 stars are definitely because of the customer service. There's this African American female at the front desk, seems to be in college, who was being really rude when I had questions about joining the club membership. She rolled her eyes a couple times and seemed really annoyed when I asked questions. I get it, everyone has their bad days, but if you're running a business, you gotta learn how to prioritize customer service instead of being like a moody teenager. read more

I went for my first class at Title tonight, and did the 60 minute class. It was without exaggeration the best workout of my life. The instructor was so personable, motivating, and attentive. When you were doing things incorrectly he came right over and adjusted your form. He did this a few times to me over class..and quickly. I was super appreciative that he was so quick to help me out, and I also didn't feel like any attention was drawn to me, which always helps corrections feel better. The studio was big, really clean, and everyone that worked there was so nice and helpful. I'll definitely be back, and you should too! You definitely won't regret it. read more

Please spare yourself the trouble of having to deal with the most unorganized, belittling, and dysfunctional customer service a business could provide. Please also note that this review is in no way a reflection of the quality trainers they have. This is simply a review based on the customer service experiences I've had. To give you background. My roommates and I participated in their First Shot Promotion in September 2016. We had an AMAZING workout and our trainer was the best! Feeling incredibly empowered by the workout, we were interested in signing up for a monthly membership. Long story short, we were told by the front desk woman that there was a student membership that we would be able to purchase, but when we went to go sign up, we were told that it was never something the studio had offered. When I messaged the studio's Facebook paged to simply let them know of this discrepancy and asking them to clarify why we were being told two different things, I received a very unprofessional response from Cam, the studio's Chief Operating Officer (I have screenshots if you're interested in reading). Minutes later, I received another message, one that sounded more professional, apologizing for the confusion. The fact that someone had to write to me again, following the first response shows me that there are clearly some communication issues that need to be worked on in the studio's management. To me, it is totally understandable and tolerable for a company to have miscommunication issues. However, when I get an inflamed response back from the studio's head personnel asking me not to "make negative claims against our business", and to call him at the studio instead (by the way, no one picked up the phone), that is where I put my foot down on poor customer service. Now to get into the issue I faced today. I am at fault for even bothering to give Title at Newbury Street another chance. But here the story goes... My friend and I signed up for ClassPass, which is an app that allows you to pay a monthly fee in exchange for participating in a variety of fitness classes. I had such a great experience with the trainer at Title last September, I decided to look past the issues I had with customer service. While it did not that quote This studio's First Shot Free promotion only applies to new visitors and NOT ClassPass users and that gloves are required and are provided for your first class only as ClassPass users, NEVER does it say in the terms that having used the First Shot promotion before starting a ClassPass membership would count as a first visit. Because I am paying for my ClassPass subscription, my first visit to the studio in September is irrelevant. As a ClassPass member, it is my first time using Title, and therefore, I should've been given the gloves for free. That was not the case unfortunately and a white, male with shorter hair and facial hair was incredibly short with me. He also called me sweetheart, which made me uncomfortable, considering I had never talked to him in my life and as a 23 year old woman, I never thought I would have to be called such a belittling term (Look at the older Yelp reviews, people have complained of this language before). I told him that if this is the studio's policy for ClassPass members, I respect it, but it needs to be more clearly outlined in the terms listed on Class Pass. He offered no empathy or apologies about the confusion. It would be absolutely accurate for me to say that he was not there to serve me as a customer, but to deny the misunderstanding and to pin it as the fault of the customer. Needless to say, I walked out and was furious. I will say that Jon, although remaining quiet for the interaction, seemed much more professional about the situation and I appreciated that. Again, my anger is not rooted in being asked to pay for the gloves (which are $40 by the way), but rather, it's rooted in being treated so poorly as a customer. I hope that from this lengthy review, you will use your better judgment when it comes to experiencing what this studio has to offer. Again, this review is simply a reflection of the inadequate customer service and the management's refusal to accept any fault. If you are a member of management at Title Newbury reading this, I hope that you're able to reflect on how you've been treating your customers. Without the trust and loyalty and respect of your customers, your business means nothing. Take a look at countless number of negative comments that have been left on your page. Great workout and awesome trainers. However, as others have stated, the customer service for the price is terrible. I have seen the people at the desk be rude to people many times. I was also 2 minutes late to the 6:30 AM class that had about 5 people there and was turned away due to "the late policy." I had biked there and missed two lights, which made me late. I explained that but they didn't care and told me to leave. They should consider how much the membership costs before they treat customers like that. People don't pay $80 a month and wake up at the crack of dawn for that kind of treatment. I can get the same intensity workout in Boston at 6:30 AM for free through the November Project, which I may start doing instead. Other title gyms have much better customer service but this one takes advantage of the college students in the area who are willing to put up with crappy treatment. read more

I didn't get to the workout because after I filled out the waiver they told me to buy wraps. I replied that I had them at home and could I try my first class another day? The person at the front desk rolled his eyes and said "if that's what you really want." I said I had two wraps at home and it wasn't worth buying another pair. So I left. THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE STAFF OF TITLE BOXING CLUB NOT THE CLUB ITSELF. I don't understand why the staff treats clients rudely (especially the ones in the reception). I was late to one of the classes, and when I went in, the first thing the lady told me is (your'e late, you can't enter it's a rule) then one of their friends came and entered in front of me. The staff here are so unfriendly opposite to the ones in North station. The club itself is amazing, The classes are intense, and "MOST" of the trainers are helpful. my advice is to go to Title in North Station, but not this one because you'll regret even talking to them. read more

Caution before joining ... They won't let a member participate in class even if running a couple minutes late even when there are open bags. I have an unpredictable work schedule and look forward to coming here to destress after work..... travel 45 minutes on the subway just to take these classes... very infuriating to be told no, and that I'm not allowed to jump in the class when I am a paying member and am just 5 minutes late, especially after a long and challenging day at work. I've been to several other Title Boxing Clubs all over the US, and this is the only club that has a late policy like this. I've been coming to this location since it opened and they just now started enforcing this new ridiculous late policy last week. I understand if I'm late and there are no open bags, but it makes no sense if there are plenty of spots left. read more
