Bottom line: Some really good trainers; but be mindful if you commit to a membership Like many others have outlined, the trainers, especially Rami and Isa are excellent. Dawna, who is the main administrator, is helpful and engaging. I was going pretty regularly at the start but then took a pause after a medical diagnosis that required that I get more serious about strength training. I knew I needed time to get into the new routine and put my account on hold. As my hold was ending, I engaged Title to figure out the best plan to be on as I wanted to try to keep boxing as part of my routine even if it couldn't be my primary exercise. I had narrowed it down to 4xs a month but missed informing them by 1 day. I requested that they make an adjustment - especially given the series of texts indicating my need to downgrade. Despite that, they refused and are continuing to charge me for unlimited ($50 extra dollars). I decided to cancel and expressed disappointment about the situation. At first they followed their standard process and let me know I'd have to pay an additional month. However, after they received my feedback about the circumstances, they gave me some options for the added month in response t to my circumstances. So - great trainers - and be careful about committing - they have a lot of contractural rules and it can be tricky to navigate. read more

I love Title Boxing!! Every class (so far) has been awesome. The trainers are amazing; the front desk staff and assistants rock; and the owner and GM are phenomenal. But I'm not here to review the classes. I'm here to review the personal training. Along with my 3x a week classes, I have been taking personal training (aka private training) with Big Mike for a couple of months now. Let me tell you - I am scatty, unbalanced, and unfocused. However, my PT classes have helped me with getting me on track physically AND mentally. Big Mike tailors your PT classes to not only to highlight your strengths, but also to target and improve your weaknesses. Each PT is intense, interesting, and FUN. No session is the same - he finds different ways to motivate you. He is encouraging without being fake and tough without being mean. I have learned all the fundamentals of proper form for all the punches and kicks. And also how to transition between each. (Bonus, he can instruct you proper form for both right- and left-handed) Believe it or not, the days I don't have class, miss it. I am completely astounded with my own progress and I wouldn't be at this level without my coach Big Mike. If you're not taking boxing clases, you should be. A lot has changed at Title Boxing Evanston since writing my first review, so I figured an update was in order. After a long break, I restarted my membership at the start of this year to find there's an entirely new team running the gym now--and they do an awesome job. JB, the new general manager, was very helpful in restarting my membership. He is incredibly kind and really sets the tone for the place--treating all members like friends and creating an uplifting/inspiring environment. I'm a huge fan of the 45-min classes. It's always a great workout, and the instructors help keep you motivated. All of the coaches have their own styles and the variety keeps things refreshing. My personal favorite is Evaristo (you have to be an early bird to catch his classes), but all of the coaches are great. Don't wait--get in the gym! My Title Boxing membership has really made a profound impact on my life--it's not only a great workout, but a great stress-reliever and since rejoining I find myself with far more energy and a clearer mind on a day-to-day. I just started here a little over a month ago. My background is ballet, running, cardio and HIIT classes at FFC in Chicago. Then we moved to the North Shore during a pandemic... I have taken a lot of cardio boxing classes but never belonged to a boxing gym before. This is a really fast, holistic workout. Classes are all pretty much 45 minutes. The instructors are all well trained and super nice. I like booking via the app. The only thing that throws me off is that they use a number system for the moves, so instead of saying "jab," they call it "1". Some instructors use the real names. But it's a little confusing. I never used a bag before, so that's also been a learning experience. But you feel great after these classes. I hope to improve my skills as I keep going. I just wish I could stay and do a little stretching or weight training, too. read more

My objective: I've been thinking about why I love Title so much. There is a lot to say, but I say it in the hopes that someone like me may read the review and decide to try it and enjoy it as much as I do! Personal background: I am not athletic at all. I dislike most sports, and working out makes me focus and obsess over my body in unhealthy ways. I am an anxious person, especially when I'm around people I don't know, doing something I'm not good at. There was no reason, a priori, to think that Title and the workouts would be something for me. Why I like the workouts: They are TOUGH. Why would an unathletic person like me, who never enjoyed working out, like that? Honestly, it doesn't make sense to me! The thing is, you make your own pace. I'm a competitive person, but competition stresses me out. I think part of the reason why I've never enjoyed working out so much is because there was always a number to achieve. A level higher I felt I needed to go. And if I stopped going for 2 weeks, the number would drop and I'd feel like a failure. With this without, there are no numbers like that. You just try your best. There are modifications for everything. The trainers actually emphasize like modifications, and it really helps me feel like my best is good enough. In fact, I recently realize that I have stopped thinking about how my body looks after going to these classes. I go because I want to be healthy and because the classes are fun! Why I like Title: I think it's amazing that it's run by Paige, because I like to support businesses owned by women. My mom is a small business owner, and watching her run her business was formative for me. Since I also help running my mom's business, I have some intuitions as to what makes a good business. Paige runs a good business. The trainers are always friendly and happy. The bathrooms are stocked with a number of female friendly products. The gym is always clean. It's not a cheap membership, but the way the place is run, you know they value you and want you to have a great experience. All in all, Title was the last place I thought I'd end up. It seemed like such an unlikely pairing. I have no idea why I decided to try it, but I'm really happy I did! read more

I'm pretty new to boxing and recently fallen in love with the sport. Gyms have been pretty intimidating in the past but Title Evanston has me completely hooked! I came here on a Classpass. I had a terrific experience. I have never taken any kind of boxing class before in my life and was very apprehensive. Per the Classpass instructions, I arrived early and purchased a set of wraps. Alan very kindly wrapped my hands and throughly explained how to wrap them so that I could do it myself next time. He also took the time to set me up on a bag and showed me the basic kinds of punches. He could not have been more kind. The class was tough, but great. My only criticism would be the music-- it would probably be best to play songs without racial slurs, in the future. My instructor, Jay-R was very welcoming and friendly. He made sure I knew what was going on during the class and was super encouraging! Alan also helped me during the first couple of rounds. You would have to actively being trying if you worked out here and did NOT have a good time. If you have negative conotations about what a "boxing gym" might be like, you owe it to yourself to check this place out. After years of struggling with workout motivation I've finally found something that works for me. A major part of that are the trainers here. They make class exciting and fresh, and they have a great attitude and sense of humor. I feel valued and supported and I get a great workout and anxiety relief to boot. They employ techniques such as partner work to create a team atmosphere which makes it feel like family. I've never felt so empowered in my life. It's expensive but it's worth every penny. read more

My son was a member of Title Boxing in Evanston. However, when he suffered a significant Achilles injury playing basketball and had to end his monthly membership, they required him to pay for an additional month of service even though he was physically unable to participate. They justified this by saying they required a one-month advanced notice on canceling their membership. I would be careful before committing to any membership with this organization. read more

I was looking for a new workout routine and walked into Title Boxing in Evanston this past June where I met "Big" Mike and Paige the owner who recommended I try a class free and then make a decision about membership. I hesitated in turning "one day" into "day one" for a few weeks until I received a gift of a two month membership for Fathers Day and then the journey began. The first class was hard and I was sore afterwards, but it wasn't really a class per se but more of an instructor lead personal workout. You decide how far you push yourself, but the friends you make in class will give you a nudge. Don't be surprised if you hear "Title is a family" as the instructors are positive, welcoming, and encouraging. Three times a week has become my standard with Anthony's 75 minute marathon on Saturday being a great start to the weekend. Jay-R knows everyone by name and will keep you motivated when you are ready to drop. You don't hit anyone or get hit, you just get a high intensity workout in a welcoming environment. I have canceled my other gym memberships and invested in a good pair of gloves looking forward to many future sessions. read more

UPDATE: I was contacted by people at TITLE after they saw my review. They were compassionate and professional, and took the time to get to the bottom of the situation and gave me updates about what was happening. Things were resolved very quickly, which I appreciated more than I can ever express. Honestly if the rest of the planet handled inappropriate conduct this well the world would be a much better place. BIG fan. I've taken classes at other Title boxing clubs and loved them, so I thought I'd try here too since it's a short commute for me. I went to Boxing 60, a class I've taken elsewhere and really enjoyed. The class was ok at first; we were all a little slow to start, but we found our groove. Then about halfway through, my instructor told me to visualize that I was punching my ex-boyfriend. When I said I was married, he told me my husband must piss me off sometimes, does he ever complain about my cooking? We must argue? When I insisted that my husband is the cook in the household, he called him a real modern guy. I was disgusted by these statements. Looking past the dated attitudes about household chores, I would never harm a person except in self-defense, and encouraging people to hit their loved ones is never ok with me. Plus I think he knew it was a hinky thing to say; there were guys in the class too and he didn't encourage them to visualize their ex-girlfriends. This guy's sexist comments completely ruined my workout and my evening. Usually I leave boxing feeling zen, I left feeling pissed and almost burst into tears on my way home. My favorite form of exercise! Doesn't even feel like exercise, because it's so fun. I've been going to Title for about 2 and a half years, and was SO happy to find a Title gym when I moved to IL this summer. I try to go at least 2 times a week, but sometimes I come about 4. The workouts are challenging, but good for all fitness levels which I love. I've never felt out of place and judged for not being in tip top shape like I have in other gyms. This review relates solely to cancellation policy, not our experience during the membership or with the gym, which was positive. Be aware that even though the written cancellation policy states that you can cancel with 30 day written notice by email or certified mail, the gym continued to charge our credit card for TWO MONTHS despite its receipt of our written email canceling the membership. I thought it was just a mistake and alerted them to it, as we had really good customer service throughout our short membership during the summer. Instead, I was appalled at the response I received, which was that they require a cancellation form to be submitted (never told us this) and the manager said she emailed me to ask if we wanted to hold the account open (but I never responded). The manager said she would give us a refund for the two months charged after we provided written notice of cancellation as a "courtesy." Apparently, my lack of response to her offer to freeze the account (not to continue to charge) despite compliance with the notice of cancellation policy somehow gave the gym the right to continue to charge us indefinitely. read more

I started coming to Title a few months ago when I returned to Evanston for school. I was totally new to boxing but was interested in trying it out. The classes are a high intensity combination of cardio, bag work, and core exercises. The instructors are used to working with beginners, and have been helpful in improving my technique. I love this place!! I'm not a big fan of working out and by not a big fan I mean I hate it. But I was told that boxing was fun and a great workout so I thought I'd give it a go. And I love it! I always feel fantastic after a power hour. I highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a fun (super tough - in a good way) workout. I can't always keep up with everyone in the class but the instructors always encourage me to keep it up and I do! I've been going since the day they opened in April and I can definitely see progress in myself. I actually look forward to boxing. Something I never thought I'd say. Everyone at the club is awesome. Allow me to introduce you to Mike(picture attached somewhere here ), he's the manager at TITLE Boxing Club Evanston. He's also the one that was able to convince me to join the club and give it a try. When speaking with him I advised him of my insecurities and fears of joining the club. Being THE big girl who could barely keep up, but he assured me I would do great, that I wouldn't be alone, and that they would always help me succeed. I had a million and one questions and concerns and he was always there answering each and every question, very quickly may I add. (Lol idk how he didn't punch me lol) Anywho, I am so glad I took his word and joined. Hands down one of the best decisions I have made. I completed my first week of classes today and I have never felt better. Am I still insecure? Sure I am, everyday I walk there I'm super nervous lol but thanks to Mike and his great staff that fear goes out the door the minute I walk in the door. I became a member at Title back in July. After trying my first free class, I was hooked. Boxing gyms can be intimidating spaces for newcomers but I've found the managers and all of the instructors to be welcoming and encouraging, regardless of folks' previous boxing experience. Over the past 9 months, I've found my membership to be worth every penny. It's a great stress reliever, an incredible full-body workout and I feel like I've grown and learned a new skill or technique in every class. Great gym ! I wasn't too interested to sign up but when I got in touch with Big Mike (manager) he gave me a trial session and after he communicated with me and made me feel welcome and coached me through the class. Me being new to a whole new sport is definitely scary but at the same time challenging because you have a great owner like Big Mike that takes the time to coach you at the end of class to give you some tips on how to perform a better jab, cross, hook, and stand. Small little details like that go a long way and make you feel like family at the gym. I highly recommend this gym to anyone willing to spend the cash on some serious intense workouts. Been coming to this location since we moved to Lincolnwood/Skokie and it's been great. My wife and I used to attend their city locations and this one is by far our favorite even though it's a good 20 minutes away from us. It's worth it! The instructors are great and they know how to run the place. Parking is really easy to find on the street which is another plus. read more
