My son was receiving an award so he wanted a nice haircut, he had a guy named Danny as his barber. The guy was incredibly rude and dismissive when describing how he was hoping to have his hair look. Then proceeded to give him one of the worst haircuts I've ever seen. You could tell he didn't know what he was doing. First of all $50 for a barber shop haircut is insane. Waltham 10 mins away is LOADED with barber shops that give incredible fades, trim your eyebrows, ears hair, nose hair, and shave your neck for $20-$30. Why anyone would pay $50 (before a tip) for a mediocre haircut is beyond me, but if that's what you're looking for then go see Danny at Title City in Newtonville. read more

They are located in the center of Newtonville on the main drag. It's on the pricey side but the trimmed my eyebrows, shaved my neck and cut off the hair which grows on the top of my ears. They have a mural on the wall displaying the sports hero in the city. Next time I need a haircut, I will return. read more

Complete and utter disappointment! I needed a specific style cut for my photoshoot. I showed the guy a picture of what I needed, frontal and side view. I asked him to confirm if he can do it., He glanced at the pictures and said yes. It was supposed to be a medium length trim, because my head shape is not perfect. 20 minutes later I got a military style SHORT cut with a little bush at the top. I can do such cut myself for free looking at the mirror and with my clippers. I look absolutely ridiculous and have now to cancel the photo shoot until the hair grows back which may take a month. I paid $50 plus $10 tips for this because the guy honestly did some work, had pleasant mannerisms and was courteous and friendly. But never ever will I be trusting my haircut to them. We have been going to Lucy for my son's hair for over a year now because she has always done a great job with his cut. Today, my son was not feeling well and she picked up on it right away and helped him to feel better (he is a newly diagnosed diabetic and needed sugar) and she sent her colleague to get some juice, waited for him to feel better, said encouraging words to both of us. She was so kind, patient, and helpful during a tough moment. It's additionally appreciated as I know she works on the clock and we probably ran right through her lunch break. This place has really gone downhill. They still have a couple decent barbers but there has been a lot of turnover in the staff and the quality is mixed. For the price they charge you'd expect they only hire the most experienced barbers. read more

Seems like the secret may be out, but LG gives an amazing cut. Super nice guy , personable and listens to exactly what kind of cut you want. He is extremely talented and always responses positively to my 7 year old son's imaginative requests. Any time I have come it has been clean and organized. A terrible and expensive haircut. I thought I'd try this place because it's very convenient, just a block from my house. They gave me to a barber who spoke almost no English. I described what I wanted: leave the sides long! This was important to me and I'd had other barbers do huge cutting and clipping. I was as clear as I could be for him not to cut there. Well, he snipped away, did not feather the back, the entire job looked lousy. I didn't realize this until I got home and my wife saw it. She was right. I could have gotten a decent haircut from the stylist I had been seeing (she's farther away), for a lot less money. read more

I am disappointed with yesterday's appointment I booked with my 2 boys. When City Title opened in Brookline, I took my son there for his first buzz with the owner Josh. Josh did a great job on my son's haircut! I spread the word to the Brookline Moms when their business opened up. Ever since then I have taken my older son and my younger one there. Yesterday, my youngest son needed his first haircut but since we were heading outside of Boston, the Newton location was more convenient for us. I booked an appointment with Lucy. The experience did not go well only because my son was screaming and crying. It was his first time. I get it. I appreciated Lucy continuing on to cut his hair (no trim). I assisted her with it by holding his head so he couldn't move. After the haircut was done, Dany the barber came up to me to tell me we do not accept kids that cry and move around. I did not argue back with him other than apologizing for the inconvenience. Dany was annoyed and whispering to his client during the time my son was getting his haircut. Lucy did a great job with my son's first haircut! I love it! After Dany said what he said, I will no longer take my 3 boys to City Title. I should have just stayed with the Brookline one. I went to City Title because they take kids under 12. If they don't take kids under Dany's conditions than it should be stated on the website and displayed at the shop. Again, Lucy did a great job! I appreciate her not giving up. Her and I worked together. This morning, I received great compliments on my son's haircut. I wish I could go back but no way will I see Dany again (I'm sure Dany feels the same as well). Also, I gave Lucy more than 20% of tip. read more

I take my sons here for their haircuts and the service is fantastic. The barbers actually listen to what they want! We have tried many places where they always got the same haircut no matter how much we explained what they wanted. The place is very clean, the barber had a mask and gloves and I felt absolutely comfortable letting my son get his hair cut there. read more
