It included 35 edited photos, and I made it very clear beforehand that capturing my 2-year-old son with his new sister was extremely important to me. I sent multiple examples and was assured she understood what I wanted. The session was incredibly uncomfortable. It was over 100 degrees outside and the studio was unbearably hot. My toddler was visibly sweating in the photos, and my husband had to take him to the car with the AC running to cool down. I had also spent $400 on hair and makeup specifically for these family photos. We were never warned to expect these conditions. I was very disappointed with the gallery. Many of the sibling poses I specifically requested weren't captured, and I was initially told to choose 20 photos despite the agreed package including 35. After considerable back-and-forth, she refunded my $500, which I appreciate. I then offered to pay $15 per photo for the few images I wanted. She responded, "I'll be happy if you keep some." After I selected them, however, she changed her mind and refused to provide any photos. I ultimately asked for just two images, including a one-month milestone photo of my daughter. She is now two months old, and that moment cannot be recreated. While I received my photography fee back, I can't get back the hours my family--including a newborn and toddler--spent in an extremely uncomfortable studio, the money spent preparing, or most importantly, this fleeting stage of my children's lives. I walked away from my daughter's newborn session with no photographs at all. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this photographer.

Neither of us are particularly comfortable in front of the camera. After interviewing 5 different photographers, we knew from our first conversation that James was the one. He is incredibly friendly, easy going, and knowledgeable. We agreed to do an engagement session, 1 location for 90mins to see if we'd be comfortable working with James. It couldn't have gone better. Initially, we were a bit stiff, but James gave us tips on how to act naturally, suggested poses and hand positions that made us feel and look relaxed. The time flew by and we actually ended up going to a second location with a wardrobe change. Overall, it was about 2 hours. James did not mind at all. In fact, he probably could've gone longer if the sun hadn't set on us! Our photos were edited and received in less than 2 weeks! James was kind enough to print a large poster and sign that shipped to our house in just a few days. He price matched any package/prints from other photographers. Having gone through our engagement session seamlessly, we hired James to shoot our wedding as well. He and an assistant were on site for 10 hours, tending to our every need and keeping us on our timeline. After our planned family/wedding party photos, we hardly even noticed them working as we proceeded with wedding events. After the wedding, we received many compliments on how great James was and several guests asked for his contact information. Within a couple of days, we received a preview of about 20 photos highlighting our big day. We were thrilled! Every important moment was captured so elegantly! The full magazine of photos was available for download in about 1 month. James then worked with us to print a high quality photo book for our coffee table. You can't go wrong with James--his high quality work and work ethic speak for themselves. There is no substitute for how easy and stress free he made us feel, so that we could truly enjoy ourselves knowing that he would capture every single moment candidly. She was very patient and flexible throughout the entire process and on the wedding day itself. My, then, fiancee and I first met her at her house/office in order to peruse her work and we were very impressed. After discussing our photographer choices, we decided to go with Claire because she just had the best products hands down. We were supposed to meet her in Sherman Oaks (the approximate halfway point between my place and her place) to sign the contract, but she got caught up in another shoot with no cellphone service, so she wasn't able to contact us until about fifteen minutes after our scheduled meeting. She contacted me through text that night and apologized for cancelling the appointment on such short notice, and she scheduled a time on the next day to come all the way over to my place to make up for it. Claire has an unteachable knack for catching certain moments, which was apparent in how she photographed our first dance. Because we choreographed our own first dance (and Claire's first time seeing the dance was in real time), I was afraid she would not get certain parts of the routine. To my astonishment, she snapped a photo of every single pose/move we were hoping she would get with her top-notch equipment. She captured so many wonderful pictures throughout our wedding day, so it was extremely difficult to choose from the array of photos she provided us. To our surprise, she did not make us choose and she generously provided us all the lightly retouched photos (on a CD by mail) even though it exceeded the amount we had agreed upon. Although it took a while to receive our detailed, retouched photos and the final album due to personal reasons, she did make it up to us by mailing five free, gorgeous 8.5 x 11 printouts (all of which are on display at our place). Overall, her work is incredible and if we could do it all over again, Claire would be at the top of our list of vendors.
