I've been a patient at this office for a couple of years, which is why this experience was so disappointing. I was recently told I needed to see the oral surgeon, but the earliest appointment available was over a month away. When I explained that I was in pain, the response from the front desk was essentially that there was nothing they could do. There was no empathy, no attempt to help, and no referral to another oral surgeon who could see me sooner. Waiting over a month for someone experiencing dental pain is unacceptable. While I understand that specialists can have busy schedules, simply telling a patient to wait without offering any alternatives is poor patient care. After the call, I contacted another oral surgery office on my own. They were able to see me within two days and even offered a same-day treatment. That alone showed me there were other options that could have been suggested. What disappointed me the most wasn't the wait itself, but the complete lack of concern and communication. After being a loyal patient for years, I expected better. Unfortunately, this experience made it clear that once they couldn't accommodate me, they weren't interested in helping me find someone who could. I went to Dr. Seo because one of my fillings fell out. He was incredibly patient with me throughout the visit. His skill with a needle is impressive. I barely felt the anesthesia injection. I was told I had to pay $1,400 upfront for an extraction + bone graft + implant, with the promise insurance would "reimburse later." When I called Delta, they confirmed no pre-authorization had been submitted -- which is standard and should have been done before treatment. I asked if we could just do the covered extraction (since I was considering a partial denture instead of an implant), but Dr. Kim refused and insisted on adding a bone graft anyway. My tooth is in pain, yet they wouldn't help unless I agreed to unnecessary add-ons. On top of that, they required $150 just for the consultation -- and the information I received was no different than what another dentist, Dr. Titus, told me six months ago. Even though my family and I have moved out of the area (to San Jose), we still come up to Dr. Tang and his team in San Mateo. The office is conveniently located at Hillsdale Shopping Center, so there are things to do in the area. The front desk staff are always friendly and make all the logistics easy. Dr. Tang and team take great care of you, no matter the visit. You never feel judged if you missed a cleaning (or two, or 8 years worth like I did when I first went here several years back).
