My wife noticed the outdoor sign for Tivoli Fashions (Tivoli Jewelry is also next door) in the Fountain Square Mall just south of the Monroe County Courthouse in Bloomington. We had already parked at metered parking across the street though I think there may be some designated mall parking in the area. I didn't look around enough. Anyway, with a nice window display that caught my wife's eye, we headed on over before going to lunch. The store wasn't crowded on a weekday, so my wife was able to interact with the store clerk and get answers to questions. It is all women's clothes. I did find that the jewelry store next door is also part of the same ownership/business. Since my wife likes picking out her own clothes, I checked out the mall while she shopped. When I returned, she made a point of showing me some clothes that she thought were unique and of high quality. She longed to be college aged again so that she could wear the fashions on hand. But they don't just cater to college age students. MY wife liked that they carried NYD Jeans too. She ended up finding a white pullover top that she purchased for herself too. Nice clothes of good quality and sufficient size options. She commented how much fun she was having shopping in store again. Nice to have a sales clerk who was helpful too! Stopped in Tivoli when I saw the sale signs. In this store I find "good taste" on every rack. I stop by often. The lady in charge was so gracious and helpful. She brought me just what I inquired about. I purchased a wool jacket on sale for 1/2 price. The sleeves were too long. I am leaving town in three days. This wonderful, considerate woman altered my jacket and got it back to me in 2 days. In this small town that is big city service! Stop in and check it out. At least you know you will be treated like the best returning customer on you first trip. read more

Husband went in to buy me a birthday present and came home with $400 worth of a cardigan, undershirt and scarf. Ummmm...no. So, he went back the next day to return the merchandise and the lady running the shop gave him total attitude, was very rude and condescending. Overall, just a horrible experience. I am always very put off at store clerks (I repeat, STORE CLERKS) who have the audacity to have an attitude- after all, they are the ones working as a store clerk. Common people!! Tivolis does have nice, expensive clothing, but their salespeople (or at least the woman who was working when I was in) was So incredibly rude, I left the store. Too bad because they are a local shop. I can find the same things at Nordstroms without the rudeness. read more

This is my "go to" store when visiting my son at IU! Tivoli has an outstanding, large selection of high quality, classy women's clothing and accessories. Despite being from cities considered shopping meccas, NYC and Los Angeles, my sisters and I agree this shop is one of the best we've been to. Additionally, the owner is extremely helpful and even shipped our purchases for us so we didn't have to drag around on our trip. Every time I visit Bloomington something catches my eye in the window at Tivoli. The sales associate is always so helpful and enthusiastic. I asked her last season to keep an eye open for the jackets that I like and sure enough I received a call 6 months later. I was thrilled to say the least. I am also in retail so I appreciate the follow through. They carry brands that specialty stores only receive in larger selections. read more

If you are a mature or professional woman (or you shop for one), who truly appreciates quality apparel and expert fashion advice, then I highly recommend that you visit Tivoli. You will find clothing, especially knitwear from hard-to-find designers like Skovhuus, that is beautiful, sophisticated and functional, and that will not be out of style next season. Prices are no higher than one would find at Nordstrom's or Dillard's and quite often are much lower. There is never a hard-sell from the store owner/manager. She can "size you up", so to say, in a flash and recommend clothing that will be both flattering and comfortable. I didn't think stores like this one existed outside of Indy or Chicago. I stumbled on Tivoli while visiting my son at IU.. which made my investment in his education all the more worthwhile! read more
