All around you are crafts that are made on-site in every color with expert cutting, stitching, embossing, and staining. If it can be made from leather, I think they have it. I hadn't planned on stopping in, but on a whim we visited. I looked down at my belt, falling apart and with holes that I'd poked with an awl to make it fit and decided I needed a new one. Their custom belt offerings were great with a range of sizes, buckles, finishes, etc. Jacob worked quickly and professionally to attach the snaps, hammer the holes to my particular fit and cut to length. So now I have a bespoke replacement that will probably last decades. The price was much higher, but you get what you pay for! Great shop! Friendly, personable service! read more

Breathe deep. Ahhh, yes. The smell of a leather shop and folks working with their hands to make timeless pieces like belts, wallets, braided bracelets and steampunk inspired hats. We stumbled upon this business during a day visit to Nashville and I found myself wishing to either a.) need something to buy or 2.) have someone who needed a gift at moment. We're not ones to make purchases for buying's sake but I look forward to future excuses to shop here. I especially enjoyed the wall of artisan leather cuffs in all shapes, sizes and designs that greets you as you enter the shop. I also appreciated that the shopkeeper was working on leather projects while we were there. Something about seeing things made makes the desire to support the business and creator even stronger. A fantastic leather shop in the heart of Nashville! The smell of leather is strong and wonderful. They make goods on site on the second floor and frequently have scraps and pieces for sale in addition to finished goods. The second floor is my favorite place to shop as their seconds/discount area is upstairs. They have home goods like potholders in addition to typical leather pieces (purses, belts, wallets). Wow !!! It's been 4 years since I bought an extra thick leather belt on line. I'm still wearing it.. practically every day since it arrived. I am so impressed with the quality of this belt.. It hasn't ripped. It hasn't developed that belt buckle ditch that usually tears after constant use. And the belt buckle is very strong. I ordered a belt cellphone case several months ago. I am tough on belt cases (sliding in and out of vehicles, etc.) and previously destroyed two. When I received Moonshine's, I was impressed with the quality, but found the magnet catch too weak and returned it; picked up a "recommended" one elsewhere. Promptly (but after that purchase) Moonshine phoned me and apologized; a supplier had given them a faulty batch of magnets, and mine slipped through before they recognized the problem. Of course, I already had the other one. Hah! When it tore after 3 weeks, I took the chance and reordered from Moonshine. Bottom line: after months, Moonshine's case is unfazed by my abuse -it's not even scuffed! Excellent product, prompt customer contact, friendly and honest. These guys are the best! read more

I have at least two bags, three or four wallets/credit card holders/coin purses. I have one of the items for 15 years. I wish it would wear out, so I could go buy more. My favorite, a recent purchase, is a small back pack that I can fit into my carry on luggage and then use when I am walking the streets in a town or city that I am visiting. Good price. Outstanding quality. I don't trust plastic or metal clips. I much prefer a loop of sewn leather that my belt must pass through and that's exactly what I got from Moonshine. I don't remember what I paid then but the same pouch is around $25 which is not at all unreasonable. Really, what's to say? This is what a pouch should be. Rock solid. Mine still looks great after 2 years. I wore it while remodeling my kitchen, fixing my car and flooring my attic. I'm a hobby woodworker and machinist. My point being that the pouch has endured some punishment. I would expect it to be just fine if worn by about any sort of tradesman. I got a pouch two years ago for my HTC EVO 4G and wore it every day without a problem. I'm changing phones and am about to order one for my Galaxy S4. read more

I knew when I walked in the door, this was a cool place. An expensive place, yes, but very cool. There was a leathermaker right there in the front of the store working. And there were lots of unique, handmade leather purses, bags, and wallets. I was immediately attracted to the mini purses. I love mini purses where you aren't sucked into carrying huge purses. Or you tuck a little purse under an armpit on a night out. However, my favorite mini purse doesn't fit my newest phone which is kind of annoying. Here they had mini purses that did fit a phone. They also had flashy ones like gold glitter. I was in love. And the prices for the mini purses weren't exorbitant. read more
