Young man named Tanner. As New York State requires a background check to buy rifle ammo, I had to provide Tanner all my pertinent information. Now mind you, this is supposed to be an instantaneous transaction. Waited and waited some more, but the background check never came through. Tanner said it was probably because it was a Sunday. Ok, maybe. Gave him my phone number and told him to call me. After waiting a week, went back to Wal Mart and met with good ole Tanner and asked him what happened. Said he got busy and forgot to call me back but I had been declined. What? I knew I had a clean record so something was amiss. So I called the NYS Criminal Background Check System and spoke with a person and advised her of my situation. She ran my name and told me it had been accepted immediately for approval on that same Sunday. So I don't know what to think. Should I go back down to Wal Mart and confront this guy? Go to management? Or forget the whole thing. I did try to call them at some point during the week but the phone rang and rang with no results., I was nervous giving someone from Wal Mart my personal information to start with but now this.

The customer service was also great, and their cold beer walk-in (beer cave) had lots of options for our Fourth of July weekend. On top of that, it had plenty of parking and was easy to get into and out of. A good grocery store!

Something simple, but so important. I do find myself comparing prices with other stores because their prices can be a little high. But they also have some great deals, which makes it worth the stop. They seem to be understaffed, but the staff they have has always been pleasant in my experience. Their being understaffed can be particularly frustrating when there's only one or two registers open and the line at the self checkout is wrapped down the aisle. But that's a higher level issue. The only downside to this location is its proximity to Cornell and Ithaca colleges. It can create a lot of chaos within the store, especially around move-in days or other major college events. The college kids also tend to leave things messy behind themselves, and I can tell it's hard for the staff to keep up with straightening things up at times. I appreciate the staffs efforts, and it is far from their fault, but it can make it frustrating as a shopper.

I don't know how she got the job as the manager, but they need to reevaluate that decision. The person at the register was very nice and helpful, but once they called the manager over it all changed. I did see a good size book section but not sure how good of selection they have. The staff here are incredibly helpful and friendly. There's also bank inside here as well as mailing/shipping area.
