I love Wegman's usually, and shop at our local one almost daily, but two things happened at this one. I got a coffee and two breakfast sandwiches on Christmas Eve morning. Went thru the self checkout. I mistakenly hit the small coffee button twice, so it charged me twice. So I paid $1.99 for ONE small coffee. Yeah, I could have gone to customer service, or gotten a second coffee, but WHO HAS TIME FOR THAT ON CHRISTMAS EVE??? Also, my granddaughter grabbed two chocolate mint milks. She drank one on Christmas Eve. On the day after Christmas, she started to drink the second and realized it tasted "bad." It had gone sour -- the expiration date was 12/24. Hm. I don't normally buy groceries at Wegmans because there are closer options available to me that don't involve driving downtown, but on a recent Sunday night I realized that I was out of trash tags. I first drove to a closer grocery store, where I was told that after 7 pm, all their trash tags were locked in a safe, to which no one remaining at the store knew the combination. Apparently thieves are really into trash tags these days. Who knew? It was after 10 pm at that point, but I decided to give Wegmans a try just in case they kept their trash tags somewhere that employees could actually access them after sundown. And they did! I was told to drive on down there, and ask for a manager. I had a brief moment of worry when the first cashier I asked about trash tags said that I was out of luck due to circumstances similar to those at the first grocery store I called. But when I mentioned that someone had told me on the phone that trash tags were available, she called over another employee, and he called a manager who was in fact able to access trash tags and sell me a couple sheets. Good times! I'll add that Wegmans is also a classy grocery store with a wide selection and an ample supply of self-checkout machines. I did some grocery shopping while I was there. Wegmans would probably be my primary grocery store if it wasn't down the hill and across the city from where I live. I wish it were closer to me, but at the least, the employees deserve credit for providing superior customer service. read more

While the food selection was as I expected, I have to say that the check out experience wasn't as expected. # 488420 literally piled my groceries into my bags. I mean tossed it all in haphazardly ; and some liquid items upside down. He put a bag of potatoes on top of the bread. ‍. I tried to say something about the cold food bag being overloaded and heavy. According to my Mom, "if you can't find it at Wegmans it doesn't exist. This is a 5 star grocery store and the words "grocery store" don't do it justice. Walking through this adult amusement park is nothing short of amazing. I watched an employee in the gourmet cheese section organize a beautiful display. Remember, this is a grocery store!! Now, the one issue, an older gentleman decided he wanted to tell me not only how to wear my mask but guilted me into wearing one he handed me. "Never think about yourself; always help others" is Mr. Robert Wegmans' motto. What a wonderful guy! Every leader needs to set a good example for their people/workers. So far, I've visited three of their stores and it clearly shows that. Workers are professionals and stores are spanking clean and neat. I love the fact that this store carries just about everything. It's like Trader Joe's, safeway, and Whole Foods all put together but better. Prices are also reasonable too. I enjoy their affordable bakery section with all the cute pastries and cakes. You can get a free cookie or an apple for your child. If you're not from the east coast like me, this place is worth the visit. read more

Wegman's never disappoints and this location was no exception. We visited Ithaca over Columbus Day Weekend of the 2020 Pandemic and during our short time in Ithaca we came here 3 times. It's location is perfect for visitors, only a very short walk from many hotels. Ours was far enough that we opted to drive but it was still less than a mile. Friday night we had worked and then drove to Ithaca so it was late but we were hungry, so we ended up picking up some french bread pizzas in addition to some milk and other groceries to use for the weekend for breakfasts and sandwiches and stuff. On our last day before heading home we ended up stopping back again for their sushi for lunch which was fresh and delicious. I get spoiled in Buffalo with some great sushi makers and establishments but Wegmans is a solid option for sushi as well. We also ended up picking up their subs for dinner on the drive home. I was a bit disappointed, can't put my finger on it but it didn't see quite up to the high standard I remember from the past. I don't think it is just this location as I have had multiple people tell me that recently. I was also disappointed to find out they no longer do the family meal deals they used to offer. But the subs were still a good option for our traveling home. As always with Wegmans the location was clean, everything from the bathrooms, to the produce section, to the food aisles, to the food court were all clean and in great condition. Next time we come back to Ithaca i'm sure we will come back! read more

The coffee was so good! It was not as sweet as most places make their flavored lattes so the rich coffee flavor was really the star of the show! A perfect mix of all the flavors. The sushi was also good, but rolls were constructedly slightly loosely so it kind of fell apart. However, the salmon tasted incredibly fresh. The salad was really good, especially the dressing. Look, it's a Wegmans, so it's fine, and I'm glad I live near one, but this is not a very good Wegmans. They randomly just stop carrying stuff (the prepared pasta with mushrooms. The delicious chocolate raspberry cake!) They frequently move stuff around (I mean, do I win a prize if I can find the mini cucumbers?) Today, I was looking for chicken wings and thighs and all they had out was breasts. The beef section was also filled with vast empty spaces and very little beef. The entire meat section consisted of turkey. Yes, I know it's almost Thanksgiving, but like did a crazed turkey run through the meat section and chase the restockers away? This place has everything. Everything a supermarket has and more. Prepared food, sandiwches, sushi, a huge bakery (we got cheesecake for a birthday!), mac and cheese, pizza. On top of all that, there were so many things to choose from here. Its absurd. There were even cute little smoothies. So many parking spots. While our family was enjoying the sandwiches we got, we saw the workers had a little food show by the chef with lots of taste testing. I need this kind of store in my life. Example: 2 LB Strawberries went from $5.99 on Wednesday 8/3 to $6.99 on Saturday 8/6. Cherries went from $2 99 per lb. for the past 3 weeks to $3.99 per Lb today, 8/6. It's funny how time s e e m s t o s l o w d o w n a t W e g m a n s. Somehow, our "quick pitstop to pick up vittles" turned into a two-hour extravaganza of seek and destroy (where "destroy" equals "toss into our grocery cart") our laundry list of breakfast and dinner ingredients. Now, I've spent many an hour at Wegmans before. I muchly adore the chain. Still, it seems to me that you don't really get to experience Wegmans unless you're close to the heart of their origin, and in this case, exploring the Ithaca store with friends was like amping up the experience of going grocery-shopping back in NoVA. For starters, this store has a way more enormous organic section. It certainly made hunting down Annie's goddess dressing more challenging, since it's located over here, and not with the rest of the salad dressings in an aisle on the other end of the store. Perhaps, most excitingly, the beer selection at this Wegmans is immense! I've never encountered any grocery that carries so many varieties of Unibroue beer, including at least Éphémère, Blanche De Chambly, and La Fin Du Monde. Obviously, I scored a four-pack of both the Blanche de Chambly and the Fin Du Monde. Plus at least three other six-packs. What do you expect when you're spending a weekend sitting on a dock on Cayuga Lake with friends on July 4th weekend, anyway? Dear Wegmans, thanks for being an enabler. Of enormous and delicious homemade breakfasts, of ridiculous grilled steak dinners, of boozing and wenching in a canoe or on the shore, and most importantly of all perhaps, of memorable times with the special people in one's life. read more

Everything is exceptionally beyond to anybody's expectation. It has mind blowing selections. This location is huge- has everything you need. We swing by as I forgot to bring some cooking ware for our weekend camping. The options are unbelievable. I enjoyed the most the café attached to the supermarket...... Whole Foods Market of Nyc feel but on a different level. Lots of choices for dining... a touch of farm to table dining in a very reasonable pricing. This would have been 5 stars except for my most recent experience. After 1.5 hours of phone conversations with the pharmacy manager and my insurance reps, the pharmacy manager decided it was OK for an in-network pharmacy to charge me an "administrative fee" on top of my copay without disclosing what it was out front and justified charging me above my allowed copay because the insurance company "did not cover their admin fee." This should be worked out between the provider and the insurance company or, in the absence of agreement, the provider should withdraw in-network participation with the insurance and the customer should be informed in full. So I must alert any other NYSHIP Empire insurance participants that Wegman's is not honoring your contracted benefits. Note: this was an RSV vaccination covered in full for those over a certain age by the CVS Caremark segment of the insurance plan. I am, once again on the phone with CVS Caremark (another 25 min & counting) for one last try to resolve this. If not, my only recourse is a credit card dispute. Sad. UPDATE: The above was the result of a coding error on the part of the insurance company and lack of followup by Wegman's staff. My one star rating remains because both parties left me to resolve an issue they could have resolved with a little more effort. It cost me nearly 3 hours. NYSHIP Empire Plan/CVS Caremark senior rep Sandry actually made the effort and informed me within 5 minutes that the insurance co would reimburse all affected within 45 days via check. If Wegman's takes the ethical route, they will inform all RSV vaccine recipients out front. read more

I visited Ithaca for a few days last month. I love trying new places to eat in the area, however I am on a budget and went to the local supermarket when I got into town. I was suprised to find Wegman's Cafe always has fresh food and you can eat Asian, Pizza, deli sandwich's and other hot food choices! Pizza is really good and fresh! I need to give a shout out to the Pharmacy dept. at this location. You all worked with me to make sure I had all of the medications that I would need while I was here in isolation with Covid. It is one thing to find out you have Covid while on vacation and you have to isolate away from your home, your family and your friends. You have to rely on strangers to meet your every need. I am so blessed to say that Wegmans was a major part in why it was so much easier for me to not just stay here to isolate, but to stay here knowing that I would be cared for in this way because you provided me with all of my necessities, Thank you so much for the professionals you all are. read more

Wegman's has all of Ithaca by the testicles, but only mostly for good reasons. Wegman's is unquestionably the best grocery store in Ithaca. The quality and variety is unparalleled. This place has nearly everything - a ridiculously huge meat and prepared foods section, an extensive array of Asian foods that would make some Asian grocery stores blush, etc. It frequently has foods that are, simply put, rare in the U.S. On top of it all, the store is immaculate, the staff are incredibly nice, and the overall ambiance is pleasing. The problem with Wegman's is the price. Competitors in the area compete via price, meaning that Wegman's is frequently the most expensive game in town. If you're looking for the basics that aren't likely to vary in quality - for example, specific brands of a prepackaged food - then Wegman's will generally be more expensive than going somewhere else. The same equally applies to produce where quality is not as easily noticed, like bananas. Thus, Wegman's puts you in something of a pickle. If you want to save money, shopping here is generally a bad idea - you can pay as much as 50% more for the same food, albeit at a slightly better quality. Contrariwise, if you want to be cheap, you have to tolerate the absolutely terrible alternatives in the area. Sad, but true. read more

Dear Wegmans, You are the wind beneath my wings. Seriously, Wegmans is the best grocery store in the country. I was introduced to them in college and I've missed them everyday since graduation. It's always on my list when I'm back in town for a visit. The dining area is simply fantastic. The hot food, particularly the Chinese food is fresh and delicious. My personal favorite are the amazing subs that are made to order, just how you want. I stopped by twice on my most recent trip and indulged in two subs. I don't understand why you can't get subs like this on the West Coast, but you can't. Oh and be sure to get a homemade chocolate chip cookie with your meal, they are seriously the best cookies around. It doesn't stop with the prepared food though, the grocery store itself is amazing, each section is better than the next. The produce is beautiful and the selection can't be beat. The baked goods are fresh and delicious. The bulk candy section has a little train driving around it. There is a giant beer selection and even a walk in cooler in the back corner. I've really become a grocery store aficionado in my old age and I wish I had a Wegmans in my town. Luckily I have a lot of options, but for some reason none of them compare. There's just something special about Wegmans. It should be noted that they are also in the top ten on the Forbes best companies to work for list every year, so they treat their employees well too. The sushi bar has a lot of options and is priced really well. Lots of options in this store from Asian foods, candy, balloons, flowers, veggies, a pharmacy, imported cheeses, household items. The store is always very clean and well organized. The only thing is that it's always really crowded especially if it's a holiday weekend or an event is going on near by.
