This location is usually my go-to TJ Maxx because its close and is usually a nice experience. Although, this afternoon i decided to drop off an application there because there was a sign saying they were hiring. It was not specific and did not say exactly what they were looking for, it just said "Now Hiring". I really love shopping at Tj Maxx and thought i would be a good addition to the team. I went in and i was told to wait for the H.R. Manager, at least i think that's what she was. When she walked up to me, she did not greet me in a nice way, she just asked for my application. When she looked at it she asked me about the city i live in and asked how far it was, almost like it would be a problem because i lived 20 minutes away. She then asked me how old i was and if i was in school. I told her that i had just turned 18 and i just finished High School and will be attending college. She asked me what college it was and i told her the name of it. She then had the audacity to ask me if when i start school will i not want to work there anymore. As if i were going to give up my schooling, my future, my life, to work at T.j. Maxx. How ridiculous. I told her i would still want to work there while i was in school because i will be doing online classes. She then looked at my availability which was Mon-Fri ( Anytime) and preferably not available on the weekends, because i might have to babysit my 2 year old niece. After i said that, she told me in these words "I am going to tell you now, i'm not even going to look at the rest of your application because we need people to work nights and weekends." I was a little stunned when she said that. She then walked away, and being the nice person that i am i told her to have a good day. I drove 20 minutes there, wasted gas and took time out of my day to get rejected because i wont work 2 days out of the week. I told my sister about what happened and she got angry and called the store. She spoke with the woman and asked for her manager, she gave us a name ( who knows if its a real name) and her phone number which happened to be the stores phone number. She had the nerve, to say that she told me that there were no open opportunities for people to work during the day, and she did not say that. She even said that when she walked up to me she said hello, your the one with the application, and i responded with Yes, and stated my name. My sister automatically knew that was a lie because i am very shy and when someone comes up to me, i just say Hi. This woman was extremely rude and i am in the process of contacting her manager. I will not be returning to this T.J. Maxx to shop, and I urge anyone who is thinking about applying here to rethink it because its not what its cracked up to be. read more
