I decided to shop here while I was in Pinole I ultimately got a black, white, and gold journal with pen papyrus set for $10, and was tempted but decided to pass on the green journal with a beautiful golden steel cut bookmark which was $10. I also found a heavily discounted $0.70 sympathy card. The line had the longest wait I've ever had at a TJ Maxx or similar type of store; I was waiting over 30 minutes. A lot of people were shopping here, maybe because it was President's Day, and they didn't seem to have enough staffing of cashiers for it. They had more deals indicated with red or yellow price stickers than I'm used to seeing at TJ Maxx, including many heavily discounted candles, discounted notebooks, and there were also a lot of CeraVe and Cetaphil moisturizing creams and lotions. The selection of items was decent, the main pain point was just the amount of time it took for checkout. read more

Great stop!!!! Found lots of goodies at a great deal!!!! Now there is a HomeGoods nextdoor and a huge parking lot!!! The staff is super friendly and extremely helpful and welcoming!! There were so much overstock so there is great deals great early Christmas shopping, they already have Christmas merchandise out and the store is well organized and clean. The bathrooms are also clean which is much appreciated. The store is well organized, large, bright and easy to get to. I like that now it has Nordstrom Rack and home Goods right next to it and other stores close by. The whole area feels pretty safe. (Knock on wood, last time I was at Ross in Emeryville, three thieves with racks full of merchandise were running to their car right in front of me, who needs that?) It's impossible to visit this store and not to encounter with a rude disrespectful employee! I went for check out, after the rude cashier scanned my items I told her I have a ten dollars coupon, she stretched her hand to grab my phone, to scan the the barcode (something no one does specially during the COVID) I told her I would rather to hold it for you so I don't have to wipe my phone later and she started giving me attitude and roll her eyes. And then when it came to the receipt options I tried to use my finger and she raised her voice and said " YOU GOTTA USE THE PEN"!!!! Poor customer service! WARNING for anyone buy makeup, you might not able to return once you get out the store. I bought a Marc Jacobs mascara and it was sealed when I bought it. I cant open the package to check if someone used it or not. 2 days later I come to return because I find out the bottle has been terribly used when I open it. Cashier said no for return makeup because of covid even though I want an exchange, I will buy others thing and pay for the difference. I try my best to find the exact one but they don't have it anymore. She additionally said that because there is no sealed, she cannot do the return. Finally got to check this place out! I'm usually skeptical about discounted shops like these because I've experienced some chaotic and messy stores. So imagine my relief when I walked into a spacious, organized and clean TJ Maxx!! I was greeted by a warm smile and a genuine "how are you today". Racks are organized by size and clothes are actually put away in the right size sections. (If you're a regular at these type of stores, you know that many racks are disorganized and you find yourself going through the entire rack to find your right size!) Dressing rooms are neat with mirrors everywhere. I chose to gave it 4 stars because they need more selections on their floor, granted they just recently opened. Regardless, I'm excited for this store to succeed. I hope they maintain their cleanliness and organization! I will definitely be returning. read more

YELP 100 CHALLENGE 2018 - PART 2: 89/100 Lots of people compare this store to the likes of Marshalls or Ross and have the impression it might just be slightly better - yours truly included. But this particular one wasn't as impressive. Sure, they have better quality products for the most part, but the selections weren't as vast vs. the other two spots. Hubbers and I were hoping to find a better variety of the household items we needed, but there's weren't that much better compared to the other two. Pricing wasn't as competitive either. The store is clean and organized. Although their "home clearance" section is in disarray, patience can pay off. I found something I wasn't even looking for priced so low, I couldn't resist. Obviously later in the day it gets a bit busier and a little bit messier. They have a handful of some good employees that I see working hard and usually help me out. Today I actually saw an employee talking on her cell phone... need to manage that to keep a more professional setting. But overall if you're looking for good deals head here. read more

Terrible experience with 4 very loud associates that work there. One associate was very rude to a very sweet customer who asked a simple question. I was pleasantly surprised by the TJ Maxx that has decided to join the Pinole Shopping Center. It was relatively clean and had a decent selection for what it was. Unlike many TJ Maxx's, the items were not priced higher than local Marshalls and Ross. So, I was glad to know that they weren't up-charging for the slightly better cleanliness. + They had a huge selection of Batiste dry shampoo which seems impossible to find at local CVSes, Walgreens, and Targets + Decent home decor and good section, which I love (hey, better yet, open a HomeGoods) - Their clearance section, post-Christmas was a bit of a mess read more

I really loved shopping at TJMaxx until I had a really bad experience with one of the staff members. I had come in before a weekend trip up north to buy a new phone case for my iPhone 6. When I cam in the past they had a great selection of cases, but this time they didn't. I really needed a case, so I bought one that I liked but I could've found better at F21 or UO! The case I bought was 9$. When I got to my car to put it on my phone, the case wouldn't let me use my AUX or charging cable in my car, so obviously I wanted to return it. I went back into the store to return and the cashier was like "you're really going to return an item you just bought?" And I told her well obviously if it won't work with my cables. She was honestly so rude, I wish I remembered her name. She returned the money and didn't even ask if I wanted cash back since I paid with a debit card. i've come here so often after work, i've never had a terrible experiences until today when i went to the fitting room to try 3 dresses on around 11ish. i know usually when i go to put the clothes on the rack so they could count to give me a number so i can then go to a fitting room. i did that and when i came back after trying them on, i asked the older black lady with short hair "where should i put the ones i don't want" she said "you put them here" so i did that and went to walk away with only 1 dress i tried on to go pay and she yelled at me and said "no you put them all back here, i need to count them" and went to grab them out of my hand and i said "im sorry i didnt know" & she said "i told you put them here, you can't go until i count them" & i said "my bad i didnt realize i had to put them all here" and she kept whispering stuff under her breath and was super rude and passive aggressive. i kept saying my bad because i never had to do that before when i've gone in the fitting room and i didnt mind having to do it, its just the way she communicated it with me was super wrong. i was way too caught off guard by it to even give her a peace of mind and was trying my hardest not to be rude in return especially since she was older. usually stuff like this doesn't bother me since i work retail too but once she raised her hand at me and tried to grab them out of my hand and kept going on and on about how i should've put them all there and was super hostile i had an issue. i can admit when i'm wrong but i genuinely didnt know they ALL had to go back so she could count and i asked where to put the clothes once i was done. read more

It had come off in one of four places I had shopped that day and I was heartbroken as it is of much sentimental value. The young woman took my name and said she would check. Fat chance, I know. I am so glad that I don't haw to go all the way out to Concord to go to a TJ Maxx now! This one is clpse to my house and the fact that it is brand new is even better! The store is located between Staples and BevMo. There is plenty of parking and every time I have here there is parking right in front and the store is practically empty. The store is really spacious (smaller than Comcord though) & have different sections. The larest sections here are the home improvement and purses sections. Everything else, Junior section, baby section, shoe, purses, & jewelry section are on the small side. I've noticed that they dont much selection in the juniors department or clearence items here. The staff are all really nice here. Greet you and ask you if you are finding everything OK. The place is well lit but it cam get rather cold in there, especially in the dressing rooms. The dressing rooms are clean & well lit! Overall a great store & will come back! read more

Problem is the check out staff and absolutely no sense of urgency or customer service to explain why they did not get help without if there is a large transaction or return. At least 7 people in line, one checker. When help did arrive I swear it was a joke on how slow and annoyed she was to do her job!!! Incredulous and frustrating to see this level of work. In terms of selection, this is the best TJ Maxx I've ever been to. They have a nice layout and great products, especially in their food selection and beauty products. However, I can't even count how many times I've walked up to the checkout line with a full cart and then changed my mind and walked out because it takes SO long to pay. No matter how many employees are working, there are never more than two people on the registers (today, there was only one poor woman on the register with a line of at least eight customers). Even on days when there were only one or two people in front of me, it's never taken me less than 15 minutes to check out. read more

Worst TJs I have ever been to. They're not trained in doing online returns and I've gotten so much attitude from an African American woman at the registers. Also, she's incapable of giving you the correct change back. If I was short a penny to purchase an item you wouldn't let me walk out the door with that item. I work hard for my money and you should be able to count change correctly on how much money you owe your customers back. read more

Product selection is ok but it seems the quality of items really depends on location. If you go to the store in Moraga they have all sorts of stuff and a great range of higher end brands. Here not so much. The service also is somewhat lack luster. The young man at the jewelry counter was responsive and approachable, but the people at the dressing room don't even acknowledge you when you go up. I was standing right in front of the women and she wouldn't even look up until I said hi. Seriously?? I love tjmaxx normally but wish they could improve their customer service. read more
