Honestly I've been coming here for years and there's always an issue. I've gotten fungus twice because of their uncleanliness. Once on my pointer finger and once on my big toe. Even the Owner gave me the run around when I wanted him specifically to do my nails and tried to book through instagram. He said I had to call the store so when I called the store they said I had to book through instagram! Believe the reviews when they say he has an attitude. Everytime I go they give me the new hire and it's a 50/50 chance of it coming out good. Last time I went they gave me the new hire like always and my GEL TOE POLISH I REPEAT GEL peeled off BEFORE IT WAS EVEN 24 HOURS. I was already in a different territory within that time so I couldn't get them fixed. I refuse to come back, I rather pay Fairfield or Norwalk prices then give these people my money again...Consistency is key. I don't know if it's because the past few times I've been here, it's been midday on a weekday, but it's been pretty empty with no wait. Today the older lady started my toes. When she brought me the color nail samples, I said I get the color wave on the wall, she asked the younger slim guy to interpret. When I said my big toe was crooked, she asked the younger guy to interpret again and he eventually took over. T & J Nails fixed the horrendous mess that was on my hands before. I came in after letting a friend do my nails desperate for them to fix it before I went on vacation and they did it! My nails were so cute and I got so many compliments. It's been 3 weeks and theres no lifting, all my nails are still on! Lord have mercy. I had a terrible experience. This place is super dirty and just smells musty. The person who did my pedicure could not do a simple gel French pedicure. Went there because I needed a Pedicure. I ask how long manager said 25 minutes sat there waited fourteen minutes five minutes. place looked dirty. I walked out. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE BAD ATTITUDES. I got a pedicure and a full set at the salon, but hadnt been there in years. One of the male owners did my nails and he was one of the rudest people I have ever encountered in my life, just a nasty disposition. I was so uncomfortable and it seems like every design I wanted he changed it or told me something negative about it. Not the cleanliest, not the fanciest, but gets the job done. I'm a regular of Tina's, she's the only one for me. Although I live in Hamden, I work in Bridgeport and am able to go here on my way home every 3 or so weeks. (Whenever I need a fill) I get the pink powder and Tina does beautiful custom nail designs. Got a dip powder manicure. Nails are all different lengths, she didn't bother to cut them just file them and two nails are extremely short compared to the others, it looks ridiculous. Nails are way too thick, she didn't take the time to thin them out and shape them, some are thicker than others and they aren't shaped, it just doesn't look right at all. The prices are super affordable (compared to Stamford) and she has a variety of colors, designs, and techniques (which I look for when choosing a salon). When you walk in, you get your pedi, then they make you wait out side. After sitting outside for over an hour, they then tell you that they can't do your nails. I agree T& J is not the cleanest, but it is close to home and the prices are ok. I would lve to see them clean the place more, especially how they sanitiza the pedi basin, water and the same soap they use on your feet is not going to do it! They should wear smockas for the sake of professionalism. They own M&J down the street which tends to get a much more younger crowd. My opinion is the same about M&J. I found that the staff are always rushing and rude every-time I've gone but it was close to me and cheap at the time so I just dealt with it. Last time I went, I sat and awkwardly listened to the nail tech talk horribly about customers walking in while he was rushing my acrylics and did a horrible job at that. This place is in need of a major update. I get my nails done by Trina. She does a good job but sometimes overcharges. Another lady once did my nails and she did an AWFUL JOB. This was such a bad experience. The woman doing my nails was so sweet but did such a bad job. She was so rough drilling my nails to the point where it was starting to burn. She was pretty focused and still didn't do a good job. There are bubbles and lots of polish on my skin. There are strokes on my nails from the top coat. I came in at the last minute and they didn't have to take me in for a gel manicure. I called to make an appointment on two different occasions with Trina, I called early in the month of June 2018 and she said it was too far off call back 2 weeks closer to the date did just that and I called back and she told me "I don't have anything." Not a place I would recommend. You're nails should look better leaving than when you came in. There are so many other places to go that do a much better job with much friendlier customer service. I go to TJ's on a regular basis (whether they notice or not). They always do a fantastic job and they are quick and efficient. The only real complaint I have is one day I came in I showed them a picture of what I wanted and they said I had to make a special appointment with Trina to do it, which Is fine and she is one of the best(she has done my nails before). However, the woman looked at me and asked me if I would even be able to afford it. This salon is unsanitary! They ONLY care about your money and bombard you as you step foot inside. The price is cheaper than most but you get what you pay for.
