POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE BAD ATTITUDES. I got a pedicure and a full set at the salon, but hadnt been there in years. One of the male owners did my nails and he was one of the rudest people I have ever encountered in my life, just a nasty disposition. I was so uncomfortable and it seems like every design I wanted he changed it or told me something negative about it. He was even criticizing my hands, who does that?? so I really didn't get what I wanted. I would not recommend this establishment unless it's a last choice. I usually only do reviews unless they're really good or really bad- but their customer service is very poor! if they don't like their jobs, they should consider something else. Not the cleanliest, not the fanciest, but gets the job done. I'm a regular of Tina's, she's the only one for me. Although I live in Hamden, I work in Bridgeport and am able to go here on my way home every 3 or so weeks. (Whenever I need a fill) I get the pink powder and Tina does beautiful custom nail designs. Gave many chances to this place bc they are one of few that do fancy designs. 1) grossly overcharged with no warning. Like DOUBLE the amount. 2) Asked for hot pink, got RED ORANGE and they argued with me about it. 3) asked for a design was told they couldn't bc my nails are too short. If I can give this place a zero I would. Tj nails i absolutely DISGUSTING, the place looks like its never been cleaned before. I got acrylic nails from them and my nail started growing a fungus infection because they have dirty tools that they don't wash and use on people. Who the hell lets this place stay open!! When she filed the gel off my nails, she left a pile of my old gel on the counter while she finished the mani (my hands were pretty much touching the old gel the whole time). Got a dip powder manicure. Nails are all different lengths, she didn't bother to cut them just file them and two nails are extremely short compared to the others, it looks ridiculous. Nails are way too thick, she didn't take the time to thin them out and shape them, some are thicker than others and they aren't shaped, it just doesn't look right at all. The prices are super affordable (compared to Stamford) and she has a variety of colors, designs, and techniques (which I look for when choosing a salon). (I am a seasoned Customer who has built a relationship with a particular tech(been a customer over 6 yrs)They tell you to make an appointment to them tell you, you have to just walk in. When you walk in, you get your pedi, then they make you wait out side. After sitting outside for over an hour, they then tell you that they can't do your nails. I agree T& J is not the cleanest, but it is close to home and the prices are ok. I would lve to see them clean the place more, especially how they sanitiza the pedi basin, water and the same soap they use on your feet is not going to do it! They should wear smockas for the sake of professionalism. They own M&J down the street which tends to get a much more younger crowd. My opinion is the same about M&J. I found that the staff are always rushing and rude every-time I've gone but it was close to me and cheap at the time so I just dealt with it. Last time I went, I sat and awkwardly listened to the nail tech talk horribly about customers walking in while he was rushing my acrylics and did a horrible job at that. This place is in need of a major update. I get my nails done by Trina. She does a good job but sometimes overcharges. Another lady once did my nails and she did an AWFUL JOB. I came in at the last minute and they didn't have to take me in for a gel manicure. They were totally nice about it, let me in, and the man who worked on me did an excellent and thorough job on my cuticles. I wasn't rushed at all and I love the way my manicure turned out. This was such a bad experience. The woman doing my nails was so sweet but did such a bad job. She was so rough drilling my nails to the point where it was starting to burn. She was pretty focused and still didn't do a good job. There are bubbles and lots of polish on my skin. There are strokes on my nails from the top coat. I called to make an appointment on two different occasions with Trina, I called early in the month of June 2018 and she said it was too far off call back 2 weeks closer to the date did just that and I called back and she told me "I don't have anything." Not a place I would recommend. You're nails should look better leaving than when you came in. There are so many other places to go that do a much better job with much friendlier customer service. I go to TJ's on a regular basis (whether they notice or not). They always do a fantastic job and they are quick and efficient. The only real complaint I have is one day I came in I showed them a picture of what I wanted and they said I had to make a special appointment with Trina to do it, which Is fine and she is one of the best(she has done my nails before). However, the woman looked at me and asked me if I would even be able to afford it. I thought it was extremely rude since I go there all the time, not to mention I was wearing Dior shades, a YSL bag and pulled up in a nice car. This salon is unsanitary! They ONLY care about your money and bombard you as you step foot inside. The price is cheaper than most but you get what you pay for.
