The owners, Barbara and Dalton were so nice and down to earth, They are true animal lovers just like we are. They have over 20 horse, 3 dogs, 2 mules and they offer it all. This isn't your 1 hour trail ride up a dirt road and back. This ride is 3 to 4 hours long, through trees, down what looks like animal trails in the woods, you criss cross through the woods and clear cuts in the Skykomish River Valley then you head up mountain to this amazing lookout and have lunch. I rode a wonderful gelding named Bernie. Bernie's a Missouri Fox Trotter and he was super sweet. Chris rode Comet, she's a Tennessee Walker. Chris said she floated. You can see for miles up on "the rock". When you look down into the valley and see just how far you have ridden, you are amazed. Dalton said it is probably 5 miles. The lunch is amazing, it's from the Sultan Bakery and it is one of the best lunches I've had. Sitting up on the rock just me, Chris, and Dalton was so relaxing. We became instant friends. Stillwater Ranch offers a variety of rides that include river rafting, fishing, moonlight rides, overnight camping and much, much more. You can ride in all seasons - We are looking forward to a winter ride when the valley is covered in snow. They are even starting a wine dinner ride - woo hoo. The next time we need an equestrian fix, we will look to Stillwater Ranch to supply it.

The horses were ready when we arrived and we learned their back stories and personalities before getting in the saddle. The ride was beautiful and the perfect way to spend a morning. Debbie shared local history and kindly guided us through the woods. My oldest was ecstatic to be on a "a regular size" horse as the lessons she has taken always had her on ponies. My 4 YO safely rode in front of me. I can't say enough good things. My almost 7 YO called it "the best birthday present ever!" And I have no doubt we'll be back for another ride.

I'll admit I was skeptical when I first heard there was an actual farm in Seattle. Land here is…read morescarce and expensive. But lo and behold - there really is one! Seattle Farm is a privately owned 20-acre property, and I'm pretty sure it's the only farm within city limits. The place is beautifully maintained and feels like a hidden gem. No cows or chickens, but there are plenty of horses. We came during pumpkin season and paid $25, which covered both parking and admission. Big parking lot, easy access. At the barn you'll find several horses, and feeding them hay was a hit for both kids and adults. The darker horse was especially affectionate - kept rubbing its head against us, super sweet. You can also pay extra for horse/pony rides; they are all calm, well-trained, and come in various sizes. There's a food area with picnic tables where you can grab hotdogs and drinks. The pumpkin selection isn't as large as farms farther out, but still enough. It's great to see a place like this still operating in the city, and it's definitely worth supporting to help keep it going. I think they also host private events like birthday parties and weddings, and offer dedicated horseback-riding lessons - you'll need to call for details. Awesome family-friendly spot. Picture a day that was a little cloudy, fog in the hills, and the sound of a steam locomotive in the distance. Traveling up the single-track trail in the forest felt like we had gone back in time. Our guides were so great, so informative, and helpful. We chatted about just about everything, but mostly horses and how to interact with them. I loved that we got on the horses right away. Once on horses that were somewhat aligned with our experience levels and nervousness (I wasn't nervous and got a sassier horse haha), they gave us a brief intro to how to control the horse. Then we were off pretty quickly! The guides spread out throughout our trail group and kept an eye on us. We stayed as a group and they checked in when needed. The views were incredible- we rode right along the river and it was so beautiful. After the ride, we got to feed and brush our horses, and even got to meet some cows and baby horses! SHE cancelled one due to a headache and refused to let us have an additional lesson because I didn't reschedule her missed lesson immediately. She then said it's not every four lessons, it's every four weeks. We reluctantly signed up for another four lessons. My daughter only got to attend one lesson. My daughter sprained her ankle and was unable to attend for the 2nd and 3rd week. I asked what time to be there for the 4th week and Vivienne said she had removed her from the schedule because she didn't know if her ankle was better. I notified her in advance the prior two lessons that my daughter was still healing, but she did not bother to ask if she was better for the last lesson and canceled it. She then said we had to pay AGAIN for the next four lessons. No thanks. We've been swindled out of enough money. It's perfectly fine for her to reschedule but she can't understand rescheduling due to an injury? I informed her twice of our disappointment and she just said "Okay!" And didn't care at all. I'm done. I don't recommend doing lessons here as they are not honorable or compassionate to the children.
