Nancy and Vic are great and take great care of all the horses. They treat their boarders as if they were their own horses. The facilities are well maintained and remarkably mud free, even last winter during the rainiest year on record! I really appreciate that they put horses out in groups - slowly at first to acclimate a new horse- but eventually working up to herd because the horses are so much happier that way. They have a nice covered arena as well as round pen and best of all- miles of trails right out the back pasture! Horses have access to covered areas no matter what field they are in and of course free access to water and great grass in the spring and summer. They feed high quality hay as well. They are always quick to let me know if my horse needs anything and always responsive if I need something from them. Rates are fair and reasonable and overall a great barn. He gets so excited when the van pulls up, and I know he's in great hands. His brother Kevin has been going for a while now too, and he loves it just as much. The staff treat both of them like family, and I always know they'll come home tired, happy, and full of tail wags. We're so grateful for the care, fun, and love they get every time. As this was our first experience in the raising of chickens from chicks, we trusted the experienced staff to pick six females from the Plymouth chicken stock they had on hand. In Seattle, it is illegal to have a rooster, much less two of them, and understandably why, as their crowing at 3 am, 6am, 12pm, 3pm, 6pm and sometimes, 9pm, both of them at the same time if not one right after the other. It has become intolerable. I paid for six hens and I would like to trade anybody who wants a rooster(s) for a hen, our roosters are well fed and well developed, and horny. I've purchased odds and ends here for my horse for a couple years and was looking forward to switching my annual hay delivery to them (4 tons). I used the "request a quote" on their web page. No response. After waiting a few days I called for price and was told they have 2022 timothy for $29/bale. When I showed up I was informed it was 2 string not 3 string, but don't worry because the bales are 90 lbs and I would get 20 in a ton. (20 x 90 = 1800, not 2000, but I digress). I bought four bales to see if my mare likes it. Success! But immediately upon unloading them I knew they weren't 90 lbs. I normally buy 3 tie so I know exactly what that weight feels like. These I could pick up with very little effort. I cracked out my scale and weighed all four bales. Spot-on 75lbs every single one of them which is pretty standard for a 2 string bale. Hmm...75lbs x 20 bales = 1500 lbs. That's 3/4 ton for $580. For a full ton I'd need 26 bales which = $750. I sent a nicey-nice email via their web submit form thinking that there was some kind of miscommunication or honest mistake - also that it would be easier for someone to respond in their own time than be bothered with the phone. No response. In the meantime, my mare has eaten an entire bale in 3.5 days. 90 pounds...are you kidding me? The horse doesn't lie and neither does the scale. Two days later I called to have a nicey-nice chat to clarify the numbers before I ordered four ton (assuming there was some kind of misunderstanding). Dan got REALLY defensive REALLY fast. He said the 20 bales x 90lbs = 1800 lbs pounds which is basically the same thing as a ton. He said it's 1800 lbs because I get a $1/bale discount for the ton price. Gosh, that's a great discount if I get 10% off for getting 10% less. WTF? When I brought up the 75lb weight of the 90lb bales they sold me, Dan's response was that they sell hay by the bale, not by weight, because they don't have a scale. Kind of weird of them not to verify the weight of the product they are buying wholesale for retail, yes? Dan...you LITERALLY sell hay by the weight. You point-blank tell people the price is $28 for a 90 pound bale. But you're not selling 90 pounds. You're selling 75 lbs. And when it's brought to your attention your excuse is that you "don't have a scale". I know this place is friendly and has lots of stuff for pet owners/weekenders. But for a major purchase of $2.5k hay, Iron Horse is not happening for me. They would have shorted me $600 worth (one ton) of hay. Super, super sketchy.

The other boarders and staff are incredibly friendly - this is a truly drama-free barn. With special events for the seasons, they make sure everyone feels welcome and at-home. It's my favorite place to be, and I can truly say I've adopted the entire TK Brooke Stables family. I currently board my two year old POA filly, and they take such fantastic care of her. They always provide updates when I haven't been able to stop by for a while, and they give her plenty of love and affection on the days I can't come out. They truly listen to what you want, and follow instructions and requests to perfection. I love this place and all the people who run it! She then said it's not every four lessons, it's every four weeks. We reluctantly signed up for another four lessons. My daughter only got to attend one lesson. My daughter sprained her ankle and was unable to attend for the 2nd and 3rd week. I asked what time to be there for the 4th week and Vivienne said she had removed her from the schedule because she didn't know if her ankle was better. I notified her in advance the prior two lessons that my daughter was still healing, but she did not bother to ask if she was better for the last lesson and canceled it. She then said we had to pay AGAIN for the next four lessons. No thanks. We've been swindled out of enough money. It's perfectly fine for her to reschedule but she can't understand rescheduling due to an injury? I informed her twice of our disappointment and she just said "Okay!" And didn't care at all. I'm done. I don't recommend doing lessons here as they are not honorable or compassionate to the children.

If I could give ten stars I would!…read more Relatively new horse owner here - three years at age of 51. Took lessons for a few years first, bought home w/ property, did everything in the right order. Suffered through a year of an equine vet that was not at all a match. She and horse pretty much hated each other. Vet was impatient, made us nervous and feel stupid. All of this through a nasty abscess that required stall rest, debriding, bandage changes, etc. UGH. All of us were ready to be done with one another. I can't remember who recommended Dr. Arnold to me, but switching to her was THE BEST decision we made for our horse's medical care. When we adopted our horse the seller's vet said the tumor on her neck was a benign sarcoid. And our vet (the one mentioned above) also agreed it was a sarcoid and recommended doing nothing. Fast forward until Dr. Arnold. She looked at it and said it "likely" is a sarcoid, but she still didn't like the look of it. She gave options - treat with topical steroid to see if it (sarcoid) responds or surgically remove. We asked what she would do it if it were her horse. She said she would remove it. Since we were sedating horse for dentistry anyways, we decided just to remove it. A week later Dr. Arnold called and said the pathologist diagnosed melanoma. Clean margins and considered a cure for this specific tumor, but DANG! I love that Dr. Arnold didn't just diagnose with coat color (dark bay) and probabilities. I feel like such a bad horse owner to say that we've called Dr. Arnold twice in two years for emergency calls. Once was when our horse was next door and the horse there kicked the crap out of her and when she bolted she tripped, fell and rolled over a pile of railroad ties...UGH). And another was this Christmas Eve Eve when we had a choking incident. We are still learning as we go and we get no judgment from Dr. Arnold (that she lets on at least...lol). She tells us what to do or tells us to get out of the way if her fantastic tech Shelly is with her. I really meant to send her a thank-you card for the whole 12/23 visit which could have been prevented if we were more experienced. I imagine she was at home in her jammies and had to slap on jeans and schlep the 40 minutes to my house in the dark to save my girl. I will forever be grateful. Dr. Arnold is THE BEST!
