    Cheeseburger tasted meh
    Dev D.

This rating is purely food FOOD: It is a 2star Cheeseburger: was just OK. There's secret TK sauce. I asked what it was. Teen Cashier said "it's just thousand Island dressing" lol Bread was soft, but too big for the amount of meat that's inside. Turkey burger: I could not eat after two bites I tried. I took it out and just ate one out of the bread with the lettuce, tomato onions, and dipped it in hot sauce to create flavor. The turkey meat tasted like frosted old meat that was soggy and fell apart in a greeny kind of way it was terrible. I think I would definitely gotten sick if I actually ate it. It was definitely like freezer burned or something was wrong for sure. I took a picture of it. It had a weird gray color as you can see. Onion rings: Onion rings were crispy, but had zero flavor. SERVICE: 3star. They weren't unfriendly but they weren't friendly. There are two girls probably highschoolers maybe or freshman in college not sure but they definitely had a teen attitude. Not professional and I understand it's a casual burger shop, but it's almost like I don't really care. I'm just earning minimum wage attitude with a irritable teen flare. If food is mediocre, and the service is great that sometimes makes me go back because I like the people this experience didn't make me want to come back. AMBIANCE: 3 star it had tiki style old school which I like but it felt unkept. That is different from being retro. Lots of space and there is outside seating for large parties. I didn't go outside, but I saw the sitting available through the window, so I'm not sure how clean it is. CLEANLINESS: 3 star. Tables were has specs of food and napkin holder dusty. But it wasn't teeerrible. But just not clean either.

TK burgers is one of those places that hits when you're in the mood for it. I've been here multiple times and the burgers and fries are solid. They are not amazing but I know what I'm getting. Once in a while I stop by for a single corn dog. It beats microwaving a grocery store corn dog. Sometimes a mid place can make me happy.

This was a hidden gem for me. The service was spot-on. Everyone I interacted with was super polite and helpful. And the seating outside was great - got there and it wasn't busy yet, so had plenty of choices of where to sit. I love that the patio area has a fully covered option. I thoroughly enjoyed my 3 egg breakfast with sourdough. I ended up tossing in some onion and cilantro, which totally made it for me. I had a bite of the double cheeseburger and that was also delicious. I loved that the bun wasn't super greased up, and the entire thing wasn't sloppy. A good local spot for sure!

Cheeseburger | Pretty good; I like the thousand island type sauce and the beef patty has some good char to it.

Been here a few times to pick up dinner and have had positive experiences with both the food and service. The vibe is casual with totem style bar seats and tiki masks and surfboards hanging on the walls. The ceiling is covered with surfing paraphernalia as well. So much going on that it definitely keeps your eyes wandering around! THE FOOD. - Cheeseburger | Pretty good; I like the thousand island type sauce and the beef patty has some good char to it. - Fries | I tend to like thicker fries, so this was a good match for me. Golden crispy with a soft interior. - Onion Rings | Also golden crispy; not overly battered and the onions were soft. THE PARKING SPOT. Plenty of free parking and had no issues with finding a spot. THE LAST THOUGHT. We'll have to try out their breakfast burritos next time since the Yelp reviews seem to talk about it a lot.

Aloha vibes welcome here! This is one of my go to's when craving steak sandwich and burgers. Quick and easy and great value and overall taste. And the vibes? Aloha my friends! Verdict - this is a must try for a no frills joints I frequent.

I've been TK since I was a little kid and it's always been fantastic- simple, American faire at a reasonable price. Today I received food that was lacking. The restaurant is still cute and eclectic as ever, and the service was timely, but the burger was meh, under seasoned, with the most prominent flavor being American cheese. The fries were also lacking, soggy and lacking salt. I will give it another try in the future, but for now, I'm disappointed!

Food was delicious and hot. Service was quick. Prices reasonable and staff very friendly.

Here is my receipt with date and time
    Jennifer B.

Food was amazing once they got the order correct. I said no bell peppers (allergic) and received bell peppers. My daughter's chocolate shake looked like vanilla. How does chocolate not have a color? Appears cook was more concerned with his 8 family members than my daughter and I. Then I was missing onions and pickles as well as my fry's. Food still gets an 8 once correct. Now let's talk about the person that took my order. I get she is young but could have some sort of personality. The whole vibe was she didn't want to be there and dressed for that success as well and appeared to have the I'm better than everyone attitude. Then there was the off duty person that apparently was just there for the free food. I raved about this place to my daughter and I was embarrassed as she is in the restaurant industry. Super bummed about this experience.

The receipt that they charged me

I stopped by today and ordered a regular turkey burger and fries. Simple enough. But later I noticed they rang it up as the Big Bargain Special with a turkey substitution and double patty, which came out to $13.74. That wasn't what I ordered -- I just wanted a regular turkey burger ($8.29) and fries ($3.19), which should've totaled $11.48. When I mentioned it to another cashier (who brought out my food -- and yes, it was the regular turkey burger, not a double), she just said, "Oh, it's just a dollar-something difference," and dropped a $1 bill on my table. No apology, no explanation, nothing. It's not really about the money. Mistakes happen -- I get it. But the way you handle those mistakes matters, and this felt dismissive and unprofessional. I had already tipped 15% when I paid, but after that, I honestly wish I hadn't. The food is still solid (like always), but the service? Definitely going downhill. Hope management steps it up.

We got the Hole in the Wall Burger, Spicy chicken sandwich, and brick fries. They do their own custom blend in the burger so it's perfectly and deliciously fatty. The chicken sandwich was juicy and the cut was thick. The fries are cross cut tempura battered, and the brick style includes the mom's special sauce, grilled onions, and cheese. If you look at the menu from years past, you'll see that the price has only changed by $1 in the past 5 or 6 years. It's very impressive that they can keep the prices low so the average joe isn't priced out of a humble burger joint. Much respect to the family that owns this place. What really takes it over the top though is their house sauce, often called the Hole in the Wall sauce. It is next level. Bold, savory, and way more interesting than your standard burger sauce. Do yourself a favor and order an extra side because dipping the fries in it is non negotiable. My mom went with the spicy chicken sandwich and it was great. The spice level is totally manageable, flavorful without being overpowering. If you like a little more heat, grabbing a side of peppers is the move. It adds that extra kick without drowning out the sandwich. On top of the food, this place really shines because of the people. It is family owned and you can feel it. Everyone is genuinely friendly and excited to serve you, which makes the experience even better. The restaurant itself is clean, quiet, and comfortable with good vibes all around. This is one of those reliable spots you keep coming back to because it just does everything right. Highly recommend.

This morning while ordering breakfast here - It's interesting to view a huge plate full of bacon already cooked! I've been here 15 minutes so I know it's been there for a while, if not cooked to order that's for sure. Additionally, It's almost almost 9 AM, last time I was here for breakfast was 10 minutes after they opened, and the potatoes, that were the side to my omelette, they were not cooked all the way, so now I wait a bit I don't go first thing in the morning here. Furthermore, The prices are great, and it looks like they're taking care of the eating area by keeping it a bit cleaner. it was going just a tad downhill prior. So I took my food to go and happily said, thank you. The two ladies did not respond back, or give eye contact they're just that way. it seems like there's always two individuals there that look like it's their first day there. Interesting clientele here too. Also funny to see one of the managers or leads in the back, sitting down all by himself in the corner, eating breakfast. Taking everything into consideration, the food and the price, especially still give it four stars by me.

I either order The Cut (yes, the $40 burger and fries) or I make my own bleu cheese burger depending on my mood. I'll cut to the chase: is the $40 burger worth it? If you've got $40 to spare and you like burgers, I think it's definitely worth it. I mean, I've had it probably three or four times now, and I'm not some kind of moron who likes setting money on fire (I hope), so it must be good, right? What's unique about it? Basically everything, but obviously the patty of meat is the star of the show, with a unique taste and texture that makes it stand out from a normal ground beef patty, and the cheese is no slouch either. The only negative is that my wife bullies me into ordering it so she can steal a few bites. The regular fries and sweet potato fries are also great. My wife got a steak with her caesar salad one time, and that was delicious too. We usually have the same waiter since we come around the same time/day every time, and he's always great. They also always have a great selection of beers on tap, today they had three different West Coast IPAs and I felt like a kid in a candy store... yum! Normally when writing a review I can come up with some sort of complaint to balance things out, but not really in this case. I mean, I could whine that the burger is $40, but no one is forcing me to buy it (except for my wife). All in all, I think this is one of the best places in Irvine to have a pint of beer and a good meal.

I wanted to share some comprehensive feedback regarding a recent experience, aiming to highlight both your successes and areas where further refinement could elevate the customer journey even further. First and foremost, I must commend your team for their exceptional warmth and hospitality. From my initial phone call to the moment I picked up my order, I felt genuinely welcomed and valued. This level of customer service, which often feels lacking in many establishments today, truly sets American Grub apart. It creates a welcoming atmosphere that significantly enhances the overall experience, and I sincerely hope this commitment to friendliness remains a cornerstone of your operation. However, I encountered a couple of points that, in my personal opinion, warrant consideration for improvement. Regarding the payment process, I felt a degree of apprehension about providing my credit card details over the phone. While I understand the operational need to secure orders and prevent potential losses, particularly for larger transactions, for a single item like my bacon cheeseburger, priced at $17.24 including tax, this practice felt somewhat disproportionate. I also noted the 99-cent fee for online payments, which, while minor, might deter some customers who are seeking convenience without additional charges. Perhaps exploring alternative secure payment links for phone orders or adjusting the fee structure for smaller transactions could enhance customer comfort and streamline the process. My primary concern, however, arose upon returning home. Despite ordering a bacon cheeseburger, I discovered the burger completely lacked bacon, as well as any form of sauce or mayonnaise. This oversight had a significant impact on the meal; the absence of these core components rendered the burger quite bland and far from the experience I had anticipated. When ordering a single item, the expectation for meticulous attention to detail is particularly high, as there are fewer variables. Consequently, the overall value of the meal, given the missing ingredients, was not quite met on this occasion. I did reach out to the owner privately via email to discuss these points, and I appreciate their responsiveness and transparency in addressing my feedback, particularly concerning the rationale behind the phone payment policy. It is reassuring to know that your business is open to customer input. My hope is that these observations can serve as constructive input, allowing American Grub to continue refining its excellent service and product quality. I remain a supporter of your local endeavor and look forward to seeing these aspects addressed. Thank you for reaching out. To clarify, all my reviews and communications are crafted solely from my personal experiences and genuine perspectives, not AI. Every word and insight you read is authentically mine, driven by my commitment to provide honest feedback. Even though the review was long..(lol) I wanted to make sure the details are accurate and understandable.
