We went in and she took the Saturday free class to see if she even like Tae Kwondo - she did and so we signed up. This studio is fantastic. The best thing about this studio is owner head instructor Tae Kwondo black belt Jonathan. The guy is incredible - especially with kids. He really makes taking Tae Kwondo something that is fun and something my daughter looks forward to when ever it's a day she has class. This studio is mainly focused on the competitive sport aspect of Tae Kwondo as opposed to self-defense which is fine. They seem to always place in the top at tournaments. The best thing about this studio is the instruction. It makes learning fun, at a pace that you're comfortable with and easy to understand. My daughter loves this class and when I told her we may move out of state soon and she asked if we can at least still come back to take classes here. This is a good find.

As fun as it is to watch, it's absolutely amazing to see the transformation of discipline, confidence and respect in just a few short months at school and home. The owner Mrs. Muegge in my opinion is one the best teacher of taekwondo to kids in the DFW area.. She has patience, discipline, perseverance and can work with kids with all ages and most importantly attitudes. She builds up their self-confidence with a "Let's Go! Let's Go! You can Do It!" Attitude. And you can tell the kids listen and respect her My daughter (10 years old) has been coming here since January of 2024 every week. Taekwondo is one of the highlights of her week. She is Green Belt Recommended. She Loves to spar, compete, practice and join in competitions. She really wasn't competitive before joining, but now she really is, which is great. There are adult classes too, which I should checkout myself, cause I know I would learn a lot. Overall if you want your kiddo of any age, (or you for that matter.) to build up some self confidence, discipline, get some exercise in, and put down the iPad, then Colleyville ATA is the place for you and your family. Steve was helpful in helping us determine what we wanted to do long term with Tae Kwon Do. He allowed us to try out Judo classes for a week as well as the upper Kata and sparring class. My son loves coming here and although seating can be limited, we do too! Tip: During belt testing, bring a lawn chair and snacks for your kiddo. This place is also great and making sure you get your money's worth! We ordered swords for kata class and they came in but Steve and team weren't happy with the quality so they promised new ones while letting us have the one that came in to use until the better ones come in. They really look and act like a family here. There is a parent association group that helps raise money for tournaments, etc. All in all, we love it here and it's worth the drive for us!

This school isn't just the best because they dominate on the mats (um, hello world champions!) Where they shine is HOW they cultivate a winning mindset. My kids have grown so much in their skills and in themselves. It's awesome because we are getting into even cooler combos and moves now. Jackson and all the instructors pour into these kids. My eldest, a black belt,…read morerediscovered his love for martial arts after a negative experience at another school shortly after we moved to Southlake. It's been awesome watching him learn to take risks, compete and be recognized for his efforts and skill. My twin "tigers" are also having a great time. They're very different boys with very different needs and aptitudes, and the school has been excellent at dealing with them on their own terms. I can also say that my experience at Southlake ATA has been personally transformative. At the age of 53, I've never felt more fit or in command of my body. I'm learning valuable self defense techniques, yes, but I've also greatly improved my functional mobility and physical confidence. More than anything I've made great friends and brought some wonderful people into my life and the lives of my children. The Reeds and their entire staff are models for what instructors should be: tough, knowledgable, demanding, empathetic, dedicated and humane. I cannot recommend this school highly enough for kids OR parents. You're never too old to start.
