So I've been needing to get back to the gym for a long time. (.... a long long freaking time) I go here and there between parenting and working, but I needed something new to try and keep me motivated, to go to steadily. I'd been seeing this iLoveKickboxing.com pop up in my newsfeed and hearing about it around town from some of the ladies I go to the YMCA with, so I thought i'd give it a try. My girlfriends mentioned if you hit up their webpage you could try a starter combo of five classes and a set of boxing gloves for thirty bucks. Since this gym is a pretty penny to sign up with regularly, I definitely wanted to try it out before signing a contact and committing. I signed up for the practice package, and took my first class on Saturday morning, and took my second class this morning at 9am. I have thoroughly enjoyed my classes, today more so because I got to participate in the full class. my positives takeaways: On your first day they'll put you 1:1 or 1:2 with an instructor to learn form and how to hit the bag- makes sense so you don't injure yourself! I took Turbo Kick for several years so I already knew the "punches" and "kicks" but had never really hit anything other than air. So for me I had to learn how to angle my hands the correct way, block my face and kick with the shin of my leg, rather than my foot. The instructors I've had both today and Saturday came around and were very helpful in helping my fix my form. One of the instructors today also wore a body bag (?) I think he called it and we punched and kicked him. "YOU WANT ME TO WHAT?!" I asked? "What if I kick you in the crotch?!" Luckily my aim wasn't too terrible and he was super encouraging so it was actually really fun! My arms and chest hurt SO bad already, in a good way. The gym is really close to my house. There are tons of class times, with the exception of Fridays and Sundays, and the classes that I attended had plenty of room, with extra bags left over. There is a super plush ladies locker room, with hair ties, deodorants, body spray, feminine products, etc. The mat seems clean, especially when you consider the fact that you must go barefoot. None of the workout equipment is torn up its all super nice, and new and in good condition. my things to consider: Since I still have three classes to go, I want to wait until the end of my trail period before I sign up as a full time member to make sure I really...really... not like, but LOVE it. Mostly because its a costly investment. The memberships start at something like $135 a month for unlimited access. I love the fact that it is unlimited though! I can tell that there are instructors I mesh super well with, and ones that don't really fit my fitness personality. I am a suburban born and raised woman, and the scariest thing thats ever happened to me is someone breaking into my car, okay? (HA!)- and some of the instructors were a little rough around the edges for me. I like peppy and loud encouragement but I don't like people yelling directly AT me. I've been getting to know the other gym members and asking how they enjoy their membership before I make a commitment. So far everyone really loves it, and so do I.

Great workout! First 15 minutes are bootcamp style. Then "round time" with punching & kicking the bag. Instructors are very motivating!

Unfortunately, the basketball courts are consistently treated as repurposable "shared space" for camps, birthday parties, and other non-basketball programming, while other dedicated areas like pickleball, yoga, and cycle studios maintain far more protected use. Ruthie Cooper, Lead General Manager, also stated that as of May 22, the courts will be reserved for Summer Camp from 7am to 6pm daily, plus a 15-minute grace period, further limiting member access. The courts themselves are often poorly maintained and not cleaned to the standard expected from a premium club. Many long-time basketball members have voiced concerns, but access continues to shrink despite strong and consistent participation. While local staff have been professional in communication, the overall handling of basketball member needs has been disappointing and does not reflect the experience many of us believed we were paying for.

They claimed that I owed them $79 or something for services, but in fact I don't owe them anything because I had notified Katie via text way before the December 2017 billing cycle(in November 2017) that my daughter and I were to be relocating, and she won't be attending class anymore. I didn't get a response from Katie, so I had assumed that she had got my message, and all was well. A month or two later I received a bill stating that I owe these people? Nope. Katie gave me 1 month free back in or around October 2017 give or take because for some reason their automated system had failed to withdrawal my monthly payment from my bankcard on the scheduled due date. Since then I've called and texted Katie directly a couple of times with no response back from her, and I've even called the office and left a couple of messages about this situation as well with no call back. I won't let this company tank my credit score just in case if this small debt that I'm not claiming goes to a collection agency, all because I had notified Katie in writing way before the next billing cycle about our move, and my daughter to stop attending classes for that reason. I'm not sure if I'm the only one that has this issue with trying to reach one of their staff members by text or phone, but my advice is to stay way on top of your game (administrative-wise) when dealing with these people since that's how they do business. SMH

ABSOLUTELY DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE!!!!!…read more My kids attended classes here for over a year. Right off the bat, I was not very impressed with the technical side of their instructions as it was not very organized. Lesson plan seemed to be pretty much whatever the instructors were in the mood for that particular day. But, my kids were enjoying themselves, learning some decent skills and conditioning, and they liked the instructors on a personal level, as did I, so we continued to attend and we had fun with Katie and Master Thomas while we were with them. In the course of a year, this business moved 3 times. We thought that was odd, but alright, things happen. On the last time they had to vacate their current building, we were told they would let us know as soon as they got moved into the new building, and where it was located, so we could resume lessons. NOPE! That was the last we ever heard from them. They flat out disappeared. However, they did continue to charge us $155.00 a month for almost a year afterwards! We went through HELL trying to get the payments shut off, but with ZERO answer to phone calls, emails, text message, or ANYTHING ELSE, were not able to do anything about it. Oh! And the billing company they use???? EVEN WORSE! These people walked away, never looked back, then flat out ROBBED us, and many other families, for over $1500 dollars, and never even gave it a second thought. UNBELIEVABLE! In the end, we had to CANCEL the account we used with them to end the payments. Oh! And after that, the third party company had no problem calling us all the time, but ONLY to seek payment for the charges that weren't going through anymore!!!! They STILL had ZERO interest in helping us to solve the problem! It was AFTER we initiated legal action against them and Thomas Academy did they finally agree to close our account! Wow. Just wow. Personally, I will NEVER do business with this company, or any company even affiliated with it ever again, and I will continue to warn as many folks as I can to do the same so that no one else has to go through the absolute nightmare that we have. Very sad the way these folks treat their "customers", but my heart truly breaks for their "students"......

For the record, I hate going to gyms (waiting on machines, then watching people glare at me as I use the machine I had been waiting on), I don't like to run, and swimming for me is a seat on the bench in the pool with a cold beverage in hand. But I do need to exercise. So it was just a few weeks ago that I put my 48 year old body through a trial class at Min Hur's and I've been hooked ever since. The classes are invigorating, the instructors are patient, and I am learning a life skill. But most importantly, I've gained a great activity that I can share with my son. What more could I ask for? One big plus here - they offer family classes on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and my son and I can also work out together on Saturday mornings as well. Yes, he outranks me - and I'm constantly reminded of that. But I couldn't have asked for a better way to get back in shape - and I will beat him to black belt! Thanks Min Hur!
