I was quoted a large price due to Bob saying he had to move my waste stack to repair my check valve even thou he hadn't busted up the concrete yet to make that determination it was included in my estimated price. Once they busted up the concrete it was determined that they wouldn't have to move the waste stack, and replaced the check valve. I was only discounted $300 off my bill. I'm sure it cost significantly more to move a waste stack. I found this company to be high priced but my neighbors referred them and said they do good work so i choose them to replace my check valve. read more

PLEASE DO NOT USE TLC!!! Read reviews- looks like they charge many ppl TWICE for THEIR mistakes!!! Shame on you tlc you should hire more experienced plumbers or stop ripping ppl off!!! Untrustworthy and unacceptable- Never Again We will never be giving them our business again. They wrongly claimed our ejector pump was broken, replaced it unnecessarily, and charged us for both the pump and hundreds in labor. To make matters worse, they rodded some lines WITHOUT our approval -- something that took only minutes -- yet billed us for two FULL hours. They didn't even bother checking the actual backed-up lines during the initial visit. Instead, they ran water through the sink (which wasn't the issue), watched the ejector pump fill and empty, and assumed everything was fine. They left without resolving the real problem (backed up shower and toilet) When I called back to have them properly finish the job, they refused to correct their mistake without charging us AGAIN for a second visit. We had to go the entire weekend without access to the restroom. When they finally returned Monday, they said they would waive the charge to come out, but ended up charging us more in labor to make up for it. Extremely disappointed in the dishonesty and lack of accountability. This company has officially lost all of our rental business, and I would strongly advise others to look elsewhere. read more

TLC was recommended to my family. A call was placed to this company and they called back immediately. The lady was very helpful in setting up an apppintment for a new toilet instillation and answered the questions asked, very polite and professional. On Thursday evening, a call was received from the company giving information on appropriate time to expect the plumber on Friday morning, with a 2 hour window. On Friday morning a call was received around 8:35 stating the plumber would be at my home in approximately 20 minutes. The young man arrived on time and started working immediately on removing the old toilet. There was a problem, not with the plumber, but with the flange not having anything to substantial hold the toilet securely in place. He explained how the problem could be corrected and even took the time to draw a picture so I could understand the process since I was not physically able to go into the bathroom to view what he was explaining. Another family member did see and discuss the problem and how it could be resolved. That young man was Eric. He was understanding, professional, honest and very nice. It made me feel good to know there are still people like him that can be trusted and honestly work as hard as he did to solve the problem as efficiently and quickly as he did!!! The price was more than fair, I had honestly thought it would be considerably more. I wish I could recommend this business, but I'm hesitant. "Do business with them at your own risk" is the best I can say. In a nutshell, I had a problem with my toilet leaking. The business sent a plumber who changed the wax ring. Charged $155. Toilet was leaking again within hours. Second plumber was sent and found that the problem was loose bolt/gasket in the toilet tank. It was leaking and dribbling down the side of the toilet and pooling on the floor. He tightened it up and that worked. I was charged again, even though the problem was misdiagnosed initially. I lodged a complaint and was told they did two jobs and hence I was charged twice. No regard for the fact that they fixed something that didn't need fixing the first time. Not happy. read more

If I could give this company 10 stars I would! I was quoted a price for a new water heater and an hourly rate for an estimate on replacing a very old basement toilet that other plumbing companies said was too difficult and expensive to repair or replace. I ended up shelving this project for several years after at least 3 companies told me this, even though it would have been a real convenience to have a basement toilet. Brad from TLC replaced the water heater, replaced the toilet with a brand new one, and even fixed a very old and non-standard kitchen faucet that wouldn't run hot water. In other words, he worked miracles! He took on projects that no one else would with a great attitude and not once saying it couldn't be done. The man doesn't know the meaning of the word "can't!" He worked hard for hours, was very honest and pleasant to work with, and did an overall fantastic job. He even spelled out everything he did on the receipt, in detail. called TLC due to having a problem with some water in basement of a house I purchased. They can out and used router and camera to find lots of sand in drain tile. Cost was $1,600. Then next step is where they completely dropped the ball. They were suppose to give me quotes on a couple options to fix. After me repeat calling them to move it forward with no response, finally I talked to Cindy only to tell me I would be better getting a company like Perma Seal. Really! Maybe I should leave two ratings. One for today and one for a couple of weeks ago. I had an excellent experience with the plumber who did new piping and ran it to my boiler to fix a blocked water line. He was fast efficient and had high end tools and his finished work was a work of art. I watch workers to learn and he was very efficient. Today was different. TLC's Eric came to my house to CHANGE OUT a plastic water line to a copper line for a refrigerator. He did everything manually.. cutting with hand saw and was very slow. He didn't have the efficiencies of modern tools. He was inexperienced and messy soldering leaving pieces of scrap tin-looking pieces on my floor, dropped on my sump pump cover and in a utility bucket that I provided to him to catch water. He took longer to install a fridge line than the first TLC rep who cut and created a custom multi-cut and soldered line to feed my boiler. The total to replace a plastic line was more expensive than furnace repair. He charged 3plus hours to replace a plastic fridge line to a copper line. The basement pipes were exposed so he had many options to tap for the water source. He arrived at 8am and walked out my house to write the bill at 10:27. He tried to charge from 7:30-11am which included the 23 mins to write up the invoice which he rounded up to 30mins. He said he forgot he started at 8, not 7:30. He charged an extra 60 mins. When I called him on it he said oh let me fix that. I called and company said they charge for his time to write invoice... ok but 23 mins rounded up to 30 mins at regular rates...hmmm Eric needs more practice but I don't want him doing any more jobs for me not at those rates and for the caliber of work he did. SMH night and day---same company. I will ask for experienced rep... upset I used them the second time. Went on vacation & mother was house sitting. She noticed there was a leak in the basement. Called TLC Plumbing and they came out. Turns out the toilet was leaking. They said they had "fixed" the problem. Come back from vacation, not only is there still a leak in the basement, but now my floors are all uneven in the bathroom, turns out, water is now seeping under the floor. Two men came out this time to tell me there was no leak in the basement, and that the floor wasn't their fault. They said they'd fix the toilet because they did find it was still leaking, but it would be additional price. PLEASE. SAVE YOURSELVES FROM THE HASSLE. read more

Charged me close to $900 to locate a supposed collapsed pipe. After getting a estimate for $5000 to start the project, I said no thanks! They then told me where I need to dig for the sewer line. After spending a couple days excavating and exposing the line, not only were their locates off, there were no issues. I found a issue with roots 30ft from where they told me to dig. Either they are all amatures and need to go back to trade school or this company has bad business practices. Stay away! read more

We called them to install a new water heater for our business. When it stopped working, we call them back less than a week later. Just so happens the thermostat on the sinks were not turned up. We had TLC install a hot water heater a couple months ago. That went well and when our kitchen sink became clogged we called TLC again. The tech came out and rodded out the line a couple times and the clog was worse. Now the sink didn't drain at all. He said he could only get about 37 foot of snake in the drain before hitting a "break" or "other obstruction." He spent about and hour and a half working on it and the bill was about $265. He said they had a camera with a transponder to locate the exact spot where the break was and we approved that. Another tech brought the camera and after two and a half more hours the first tech concluded the break was outside the house about seven feet below the surface. The bill was now $592 dollars. I called the TLC office and spoke to Cindy about getting a hydro excavator out on Monday, August 28. The cost would be $390 an hour until the pipes could be exposed and repaired, however long that would take. Cindy left a message on Sunday the 27th saying that due to predicted rain they would not be coming out. She said that she would call on Monday afternoon to reschedule. No call came. Monday night I found a review on Yelp that was eerily similar to our experience. Big bill, no fix, thousands of dollars to repair the problem later. I called another sewer specialist I found on Yelp. They came out Tuesday and in 45 minutes had pushed 46 feet of snake through the pipes and had cleared the "obstruction". The drain is working fine now. It cost $165. read more

Was a simple 2 hour job, well 7 hrs later they tried to root her drains and got it stuck. Their incompetence caused a mess at my mothers house. Total bill for replacing one 3/4" ball valve on Saturday morning ended up costing me $330. The $330 consisted of travel time (one hour travel time (Griffith to Crown Point)), an additional hour of labor for installing the valve (actual time 20 minutes) and finally the valve, which is a $15 fitting from Home Depot. I would not have cause to complain if they had been upfront about the travel fee and how it did not include any labor time at time of making the appointment, but alas they were not. Called to discuss my invoice but as soon but as I complained I was abruptly hung up on...twice. So much for 'TLC'. read more
