Amazing last-minute save by Tony! We lost power to our garage around 6pm on a Tuesday, the night before we were hosting family for a graduation celebration. Our extra fridge in the garage was completely out, and I was panicking about spoiling an entire fridge full of food. I called Tony and he was at my house within 20 minutes. He quickly diagnosed the issue and had everything up and running again in less than an hour. He explained what happened in a way I could understand, was respectful of our home, and was both knowledgeable and incredibly courteous the whole time. Thanks to Tony, our food was saved for our graduation celebration. I will absolutely be calling Tony again for any electrical needs. Highly recommend! read more

Had him wire our garage about 3 years ago. Just found out he put way too much in our electrical box to our house. Also the wiring now does not match up to the rooms.. used him for our building. A 120 year old building we bought to rehab..we have several conduit lines that he did not put properly in the right places. Boxes in the ceilings with nothing in them. Gave us a quote of 5000 up front. Then kept doing his thing instead of blueprints. When asked how much he would tell us " you don't want to know" especially since my husband was out of town most of the time. He would never give me an answer. Or sent pics via texts of arms and legs. Or a million dollars floating.. he belittles women. I have others that were here that watched how he treated me. The other contractors he refused to work around and would leave saying " I'm coming back another day. I can't work with them.. we gave him a key since it was empty when he first started. Then towards the end before we fired him he would bring kids in to do work while he would " leave to go get more supplies. Didn't return for hours..he would take the wiring and conduit with him on Fridays and come back days later empty handed and say he needed more money for supplies.. he never listened to me. Finally when my husband got in town we demanded he tell us a price. Mind you it was 3 months this guy kept working on our place and didn't even get half of it done. The other electricians we got had it done in a week .. anyhow we finally asked him we need a price and he stated we owed him 15 ,000 more than what we already gave him up to this point. We then fired him..when we fired him it took 3 days for him to write and estimate. We refused since when the other electrician company we hired came in to fix all the issues he did wrong , household box in a commercial building. Tons of conduit and empty electrical boxes where they weren't supposed to go still hang from our ceilings. We refused to pay so he now put a lean against our building. Not his first rodeo in scamming people. Read the reviews and go to the board of electricians. I wish we did before we ever let him step foot in here. Another kicker? We told him we wanted our key back and his stuff would be outside our back door( the other contractors didn't trust him to leave thier stuff in our building because of him.) We told him to drop the key off and where to put it. We parked down our street to see if he would try coming in which we told him he was not allowed in our building after we fired him.. well guess what. He tried to use his key to open our door.. and we were all standing on the other side of the door hearing his mouth and then laugh... we are planning to seek damages and the stress he has put on us especially me. If I were a woman I would not hire him. Very demeaning..always do your homework and look under the board of electricians to see if ones had suspensions and probations.probation.. we went by word of mouth in our neighborhood. Tony showed up for inspection on the electrical work he has done on our house with a side arm on his hip, made my family feel very unsafe. This was after blowing off multiple other inspections and rescheduling multiple times. Edit to respond to Tony: Tony, you left work unfinished that you should have completed before inspection. You blew off several inspections and refused to return to finish your work (which would need the electric on to complete). The absolute only threats against you were to report you to the licensing board for your failures, no threats against your person. Were you going to defend yourself from being reported to the board by shooting us? The truth is your sidearm was not for self defense, but rather for intimidation. read more

Tony from TLR was hired on an Angie's List special - 2 hours for $99. He had spoken on the phone with the home owner weeks in advance, I spoke with him on the phone weeks in advance, e-mails were sent weeks in advance, all confirming the date the work was to be done. 2 days before the job started I asked what time he would like to arrive and he said he would do it the upcoming Monday - which was not an option for us. We needed the work done that Friday, as confirmed multiple times...weeks in advance. The day of the job, he scheduled several other projects. I was there at 8am, and he said he'd try to get out after his other projects. Around 2:30pm he called and said he was on his way, but wanted to verify if this were an Angie's List special. It was so he said the work we had listed for him, weeks in advance, wasn't applicable to the special. Finally I said we'd go in another direction, to which he responded with a "sounds good" and we lost our electrician for the day, which we had planned for, you guessed it, weeks in advance. I can't attest to his work, it may be stellar, but the hard part is him alerting you as to when he can show up, and then actually showing up. I understand Angie's List may take a cut of his promotion, but if he can't honor his promotion, he shouldn't be offering it. It's in poor taste to commit to a job and ignore it when something better comes along and does not strike me as ethical. In my line of work, we have a lot of use for electricians, and Tony's willingness to blow off his promotion ultimately cost him several regular paying jobs that we'd have been willing to offer. read more

Tony and his son came out to install recessed lights in our kitchen and also to hang two porch fans and a new porch pendant lantern. They were very prompt, professional, and courteous! We are extremely pleased with our new recessed lights and the porch looks great! They were also very patient with me when it came to me making decisions on things which I really appreciated! If I ever need any lighting or electrical work in the future I would certainly call Tony again! read more

Hired TLR electric via a special on Angie's List - - 2 hours work for $99. Contacted him via email, and about 4 days after that received a phone call. I called back and we discussed the job I wanted him to do; he said that I would have to go out and buy all the proper materials and have them waiting when he arrived - - he would not purchase them. He said it would be no problem to finish the two small jobs I had in mind in the allotted time period. He was supposed to arrive at 2 pm, called at 2:12 and said that he was running late, but was on the way. He arrived at 2:38 (I was working on my computer when the doorbell rang and saved the file before answering the door, so I could determine the exact time) with an assistant and stated that it would be 2 guys for one hour instead of one guy for two hours. He asked me to go through what I wanted done again, and I showed him the job. He asked if there was anything else I wanted done, and I said that there were two or three other jobs that we could talk later, but that I wasn't going to do them today and wanted to get estimates on them before deciding. He asked me to show him the jobs right now, and sent his helper to get some tools out of the truck. We spent ten minutes reviewing three possible future jobs, and he gave me ballpark estimates on time to complete the work (he based everything on hours, not a job price). Told him I'd think about it, and he went to work in the first area. Helper had to go back out to truck twice for more tools, and I had to provide a stepladder. They still had to share some tools (like power screwdrivers and the ONE flashlight they had brought), which slowed them down a little bit. He finished up the first half of the job at about 3:10. At that point he told me that he had been here for 45 minutes, and if I wanted him to keep working then any time over an hour would cost an additional $149. I argued that he had not shown up until close to 2:40, and that he should not be charging against my time while he was soliciting future work. He insisted that he had "looked at his phone" when he got here to determine the start time, and that was that. I told him to start the second job while I thought about it. He got the second job half done and I told him that I would not pay an additional $149 to finish up. I did it myself this morning, and it took me (a non-professional working alone) about 20 minutes. He spent quite a bit of time while he was here complaining about how Angie's List charges him $800 a month to be listed, and then takes a 40% commission from his "special deals" sold through the website. He also told me that next time he runs a special, he would prefer that I call him direct - he will honor the deal without paying Angie's List their commission and be more willing to give me an extra five or ten minutes. No, he did not offer to split the $40 commission; he was going to keep it all for himself. Bottom Line: I got one hour's work when I paid for two. I believe that he runs the specials in order to get the job started, with the intent of running over the pre-purchased time and getting another $149 from you to finish the work. Work actually accomplished was acceptable. Technically, I would have hired him to do some of the other work we discussed, but his dishonest timekeeping and proposals mean that I will not do business with him again. read more
