I…read moreaccepted ECC's estimate and, after the work was done and the invoice was exactly as the estimate, I questioned why we were not getting a credit when less tubes of caulk were used than estimated. The estimate stated "Excess tubes will result in credit, additional will result in unit rate charge." The owner was at our house to address questions about the product used and became extremely angry when questioned about the credit, leaving angry and hollering back up to me from his truck that I'd better have read the contract (estimate) because it was going to cost me more than $100 to resolve this. He refused to give us a credit, stated that we had agreed to a lump sum and threatened small claims court when I offered to pay him the estimate less the credit. He sent an email later in the evening agreeing with our assessment of the contract (estimate) that a credit of $100 was due and then proceeded to again stated that he had explained how that an estimate is the amount owed and since we were not willing to accept his explanation of that, he needed to charge $105 for his time and mileage and a call with the installer on the phone the previous week that I had not initiated. He further stated that if the invoice was paid in full, he would consider extending the warranty that he had agreed to that evening and, if not, he would file a lien on the property. All over a credit of 2 tubes of caulk that were estimated to be needed but actually not used. We are no longer interested in any of his services or warranties and will find a more reputable company if needed in the future.
