I discussed this with my general contractor who suggested an elaborate drainage system. It looked reasonable but was going to cost a fortune so I sought the wisdom of someone who specialized in the subject and found Yaardvark. I met Nick at my site and he explained that his first inclination is to let gravity work for us and take a re-grading approach to make the water go where we needed it to go. Nick was well equipped with a really cool, elevation measuring instrument that provided vital elevation info in a few minutes. He also recommended replacing the downspout drainage system (cheap corrugated) with smooth pipe that doesn't clog up after a few years. Nick showed me the old corrugated piping he replaced which was completely packed with dirt, no drainage happening at all. Nick had the new plan implemented in a couple weeks. It has proven totally effective through recent storms, and at a fraction of the cost and complexity that had been proposed by others. I have appreciated Nick's amicable nature and honest approach to efficient problem solving. My strongest recommendation.

For the second year in a row, my lawn is brown. I even paid more this year for additional services I did not have before, but the lawn actually looks worse. I pay them for disease control and basically everything they offer, yet the lawn still has the same issues. They keep saying it is due to the soil, but other people have told me it looks like disease. One person on their team even said it looked like disease again, but still offered no real solution. Then the office said it was not disease, but again, they did not come out, do anything meaningful, or offer a real plan to fix it. Another company I called said they were confident the issue was disease. They also said that if disease control had been done, the company should have offered to treat it or at least come out and inspect it. That made me question whether the disease control was actually working, or whether it was handled properly. To be honest, my lawn looked better before I started using them. They are expensive, and since using them, my lawn looks worse than ever. The biggest issue is that when I asked about the problem, they never really came out to inspect it and find the actual cause. It also takes days to get a response on anything, and when they do respond, it is usually just the same repeated explanation with no real solution. No one seems to take ownership, offer help, or try to actually fix the problem. When I called to cancel, they did not offer to come look at the lawn, fix anything, or make it right. The response was basically, "Ahh man, I'm sorry. I know we did our best, but I truly wish you luck." All of my neighbors' lawns look great, and they use other companies. I am moving to one of those companies because I cannot keep paying a premium price for a lawn that looks brown, unhealthy, and worse than it did before I hired them.

I ended up signing for the next year which includes the initial fertilization and seeding, weed control and maintenance once spring comes back around. The process has been solid and easy. The team is responsive and quick to respond when needed. I communicate with them via text and they are always timely in response, while also ensuring to answer any questions I may have, etc... Since the initial seeding, I have reached back out to have a few patchy areas reseeded. They came out without delay, walked me through what to do next and how to monitor progress before the freeze of winter hits. From start to now, I have seen a great improvement in my lawn.
