In the past 27 years of living in our home in Kingwood we have had a few occasions where we needed trees pruned or taken down when they became diseased and dangerous. How nice it is that T&T Tree Service is still in business since 1980, they have done all of our tree work. Tim Jennings is still in charge and shows no signs of slowing down. We had a large oak in our front yard that took a beating from Beryl last year. We had tree company guys knocking at our door quite often saying they could remove the tree, the prices they quoted were very high. I called Tim to come take a look at the tree. Rather than suggest removing it, he said the tree was still healthy but needed to have dead branches and broken limbs removed. One branch had even grown out to the street light and was resting on the arm going out from the pole. Tim's crew not only cleaned up that tree but also took dead limbs and suckers from other oaks and sweet gums making our house look better with more curb appeal. And his price was so reasonable. Yesterday marked the 3rd time we hired TNT Tree Service to trim our trees, two of which are over 70 feet tall. The owner, Tim Jennings, is a certified arborist who accompanies his skilled crew to the work site every time and personally ensures that the results are aesthetically pleasing and balanced, and that the owner is completely satisfied. One of the most beneficial things they do is "open up" the insides of the trees (most of ours are live oaks and water oaks, but we also have a magnolia and crepe myrtle) to help optimize the amount of sunlight that gets to the yard itself. I wanted a chain saw, for a variety of reasons. The Pear tree in the back yard died due to the 42 days of 100+ temps. The perfect justification. Watched YouTube, read the chainsaw instructions, gather the equipment. Started cutting a wedge to facilitate the hinge, started the back cut when the tree sat down, it wanted to go the other direction into the house. Not good. So got on the computer and got TNT tree service about to leave Kingwood to start another service for a long time customer. They only agreed to take a look, get me out of the dangerous situation for my house. TNT agreed, not good found some rot, it couldn't wait. The long time customer was OK to delay. We just had TNT out for a second time. The first was in May 2023 for some major tree trimming at our Kingwood residence. What we really liked besides the fair pricing was that the owner and his crew understood how to "open up" the inside of the tree's structure to not only let the light though, but also to improve the form of the tree and add visual appeal. They showed up on time, did not try to upcharge us, stayed on the job until completed, and fully removed all limbs and other debris. Our recent service was this July, after Hurricane Beryl rolled through. TNT removed 2 medium sized live oak trees and did some serious cleanup on a number of our larger oak and crepe myrtle trees. After researching Yelp, NextDoor, Google, and Atacocita.com Tim and his crew consistently had great reviews. I needed 2 trees removed from my backyard. I called Tim on a Friday and he came by that afternoon and gave me an estimate. It was reasonable and he said he would arrive on Monday. He recommended the cheaper solution of trimming one of the trees but I wanted it gone. His concern was for the tree and the shade it provided to my home in the summer but I wanted it gone. His crew showed up Monday morning and started working. I watched as they climbed my trees and cut from the top, lowering the cut trees by ropes ensuring that no pieces fell in my neighbor's yard. It was impressive to watch as one of the trees was large. Tim and his crew cleaned up my backyard, leaves and all. On his way out Tim asked me about a tree in the front that was low and blocking the sidewalk to enter my home and a rather large sago palm. Tim with TNT Tree Services came out quickly and quoted his price to drop a tree. We had several other bids from different companies and individuals. Tim's explained the work, time required and price. We had watched his videos on his website, checked his BBB history, checked his customer reviews. We did all the same checks with others we asked for estimates. There was one lower company bid and two lower bids from individuals BUT, by far all the reviews were better for TNT Tree Service! After meeting Tim and talking to him about the current need to remove a tree and later cleaning up two other trees the search was clearly over. Tim and his crew came out to trim some limbs around a street light in our front yard. We have had this tree trimmed by other companies before, but none have had the quality of work to make sure the tree and other trees next to it were shaped properly to look great as a group of trees. Tim has incredible vision when he is looking at your yard and showing you how the trees can be trimmed to flow from one to the other and how they should be cut. He pointed out a few pine trees that needed to be considered for removal in the future due to crowding with other pines and growing at an angle without stability. We decided to have two of those trees removed the following week. They did a great job removing the trees, hauling away the debris and cleaning up the area. Tim also provided several helpful suggestions as to how we should trim other trees in our yard. He explained which limbs to remove, how and where to cut the limbs to foster proper healing in the trunk, etc. He pointed out some rotted branches that needed to be removed. Tim and his crew are reliable, professional and courteous. The pricing is reasonable and competitive with other reputable tree service companies. I wish I could give six stars. I found Tim on Yelp and saw that he was getting no less than five stars for all of his ratings, and boy were they right! I called Tim out to my house because I had two large trees in my backyard, one of which was losing a lot of branches. It made mowing the backyard a nightmare because the branches were too thick to mow over without damaging the lawnmower. In order to keep the grass cut, we had to go out and collect the branches. Sometimes there were so many that we filled up our garbage can despite breaking them down. Eventually we stacked them up in a huge pile in the corner of the backyard and stayed inside for the most part. Our backyard became a little neglected jungle. When Tim came out, he pointed out that I had Arizona Ash trees that had been incorrectly cut. He gave me a detailed explanation of why the branches were falling and what he would do to fix the problem. The depth of his knowledge on my specific kind of trees was very impressive and I immediately trusted him. He then pointed out that the other tree in my yard needed to go. I was skeptical at first until he easily pushed the pen he was writing with into the tree to show me how rotten the tree was. He pulled away a chunk of my tree and exposed the infestation of termites within. Almost half of the tree had died, and the inside was totally hollow. He gave me a good deal to cut down the tree and trim the other if I did it together which I really appreciated. After hearing what could happen if I ignored the problem and didn't cut the tree down, I quickly realized it was well worth the expense. Though I probably could have called someone out and gotten them to do it cheaper, you really get what you pay for in these cases. I trusted his in depth knowledge of the trees in my yard and was confident that he would take care of them. It was cheap labor that had put me in this mess to begin with. On his way out we discussed having the front two trees trimmed at some point and what he would do to them. He also found some problem spots on both trees that he gave me advice about what I could do to prevent them from rotting. He came out yesterday, and called me so excited when he was done. You can really tell that Tim loves his job, and has a passion for it. As a bonus he trimmed my front trees a little, and I even spied him through my doorbell camera leaf blowing my front porch. He also took everything away including my giant branch pile in the corner of my yard. :) I was so tickled to come home and see my backyard looking so nice and my fully trimmed tree worthy of being in a park! Tim has done work for us now three different times. This last time was the biggest job for us. His crew did two days of solid work on our place. Cutting limbs is just not what he does, he plans the work with you and helps you envision how the tree will look before you have a butchered tree like some other people. TNT Tree Service showed up on time and got right to work. It took most of the day to remove both trees. When speaking with Tim (the owner), he was able to move up my appointment by an entire week so that the trees could be removed before my daughter's birthday. (We were wanting to set up her birthday gift--a trampoline--on her actual birth date but would be unable to set it up if the trees weren't removed yet. We didn't want to set up the trampoline only to have the trees taken down a few days later and crash down on the new trampoline). I thought that was understanding and thoughtful of him to move up our appointment. After both trees were taken down and hauled away, all of the leftover debri was removed from our backyard. Towards the very end of the job, a small tree branch hit a water pipe near our backyard gate and broke it. Tim was quick to get the water turned off and sent someone to get a replacement part to repair it. While waiting on the part, Tim offered to put together the trampoline for my daughter's birthday. He was almost finished with the setup when the guy with the part came back and fixed the broken water pipe. Instead of leaving as soon as the pipe was fixed, Tim stayed until the trampoline was finished being set up. The only reason why I gave Tim and TNT Tree Service 5 stars was because six stars is not an option. Two reasons for the trimming - I wanted to install security cameras and there was so much shade from my trees that my grass was dying. When I called TNT initially for a quote, he told me he and his crew were at a nearby gas station filling their vehicles. He was over at my house 20 minutes later to give me a quote. He was at my house the next week to start the job, which took the better part of one day. He was about $100 more than my other two quotes, but you get what you pay for. I have a corner lot with 10 trees in my front yard. I originally wanted to cut down 2 trees and trim the rest. It seemed they were all competing for the same space. Since branches from different trees were overlapping, it seemed it was not only killing the lower branches but shading all of the sun from my grass. I wanted to cut down a large Pine, which didn't appear to be shading any part of my lawn and smaller tree (which was about 20-25ft tall). Tim actually talked me out of cutting down the large Pine since it was actually protecting the roof of the house from the sun during the day. We did opt to cut down the second tree as there were just too many trees in the front yard. They cut the tree down and completely ground the stump to the ground. I wish I had before pictures. We couldn't get over how the trimming vastly improved our "curb appeal." Tim and his crew were able to keep most of canopy provided by the trees and still clean them up so enough sun was able to get through. While he and his crew were trimming the trees off of the corner of the property, he noticed there were two trees in the back yard blocking my Directv dish from the south. TNT and Tim are truly as good as it gets!! We called Tim to see about removing 2 dead trees and diagnosing a third that wasn't looking good. He was at our house about 30 minutes later (which granted wouldn't always happen, it just worked out with his schedule). He took the time to address our concerns, and he was so thoughtful in his evaluation that we asked about other trees in our yard. He was very conservative, not wanting to take down trees that had potential to save, and had some really great ideas for trimming back some trees/canopies that were encroaching on our house.
