I immediately began looking up companies that fixed leaks...I read a few reviews and decided to reach out (via FB) to Cooks Remodel & Plumbing! Within two minutes (of the same night) I was on the phone with Dale (the owner). Dale was super helpful and offered to come by early the next morning (or that same night) to fix the leak. We were so thankful for the quick turnaround! There were a few other projects needing to be done and were planned to be completed by another company (that ended up backing out the prior month), Dale and his team member handled each the same day (switching out door knobs, repairing a vanity, repairing the wood deck (that was a big task), replacing and electric out and of course replacing the leaking kitchen sink)! He will even come back later when the custom window screens arrive to have those put in! My husband and I are relieved to have found Cooks Remodel and Plumbing!! Good, this house already costed me almost all of my savings at this point & I don't make much. The plumbing fix should of been around 80 in parts. Maybe 80 for their "showing up cost", yet what about a free quote???? I get labor, but plumbers don't get paid what Dr's get paid hourly. Plus this should of only taken a couple of hours tops . I told them about my chimney leaking & felt it was coming front the top in only in heavy rains. He said they'd be back the next day with parts for my sink. I showed him my tub doesn't drain well at all. Wed fix it & it'd be great for a few baths & be back at being super slow to drain. He took a snake to it & got all excited saying he bets it didn't drain that good before. I kept telling him it did, but then it goes back to being a slow drain. He didn't listen. I had to pay someone else to come & fix that. He said I needed a new fence & shed. He tried to scare me saying they were a safety hazard & could blow into someone else's yard in a strong wind & hurt someone. He then told me I had to pay him cash as the taxes were hard on him. They made me go to the local ATM while they waited in front of my home. My bank isn't from here, as I just moved here. So this ATM had fee's per pull & so does my bank. You can only pull 200 at a time. SO close to 40.00 I Paid so he could be paid cash. He ended charging me $790.00. (600 for labor for a job that should of only took a couple hours tops). I need some of the cracks sealed up on my brick of my home. He said at first it'd be $2,000.00. Then said, it'd start at 790 & that doesn't include materials... he'd laugh as he just kept bringing the price up. When I had someone else look at it, my fence just needed pressure washing & my shed just needs new walls to be braced good. He'd say he was coming the next day to finish repairs & would never call or show. Then finally sent his helper over. My dishwasher still doesn't close right since, the hose they used is thicker, so they had to drill a bigger hole in my cabinet & I can't pull my fridge out safely to clean behind as the hose is too short now, because they didn't get the kit I told them was needed. He finally came back a few days later & got up on my roof to fix that leak by putting a sorted seal around the base of my chimney. When he was "done fixing my chimney leak" he took upon himself to pretend like he was helping by taking off the years of line needles from the top of my shed. My family & I kept telling him to get off of there. I was worried for his safety & I planned to do it myself. He instead would make my shed sway from side to side while he was standing on it again & again joking that I had homeowners insurance. I was worried for his safety & he was breaking down the stability of my shed ta boot. Then he kept trying to sell me his 2 story ladder. What would I do with a ladder. He acted like I was made of money & had no regards whatsoever. It stormed & of course it was still leaking. So I had to pay someone else to come to actually fix it. He tested to naturally 1st find where the leak is before fixing it. When people saw what he did-didn't fix & the costs he charged me they got to talking to folks. He then called me while I was busy. I couldn't take the call & he'd just call right back. Then he started calling me while I was working during the day, I had to reject the call as I was working. He'd call right back leaving message upset people are talking. I had to block his number. Shame on him for lying, misquoting, not fixing right & taking a single grandma for all she has left.

I actually ran into the owner of this franchise of Paint's on Us at the Home Depot getting materials for another job, asked for a card, and we went from there. Delano (and his dad) came to the house, gave us an estimate, and started on the work a couple of days later. They protected our floors, walls, trim, and household items while still laying down two coats on both the ceiling and the walls. They did all the work in less than a day, and even helped by putting up a piece of trim above the fireplace which had been taken down by an earlier crew working on the house. On top of that, they quoted us a fair price and provided a written receipt for all work completed. These guys are kind, considerate, talented, and really hard workers. If you have painting to be done, I highly recommend getting in touch with Delano. We did, and it worked out beautifully.

His words were also these (I'm quoting from a text message): "Unless I receive payment in the amount we agreed on by noon tomorrow, I am filing a lien on your property and will have a lawsuit filed by the close of business" (June 17, 2020, 10:56pm). Yikes. What happened to the proud customer service? I don't know. We had made a verbal agreement for $X but he was requesting $X + $5,000. He had not presented a written contract, and I had taken him at his word. Mistake, I know. But despite numerous (daily!) requests for an itemized list of costs, he never presented one. Never! Not even at the end of the project. I still don't know how it was so expensive. I made an itemized list and it came out to $X + $1k. So I was happy to pay an extra $1,000. But not $5,000! I'm a young husband, and father to three little girls. That's a lot of date nights & diapers! Here are nine specific reasons I would not hire this company: (1) It bears repeating... he threatened to sue my family! (2) In my opinion, I got cheated out of $5,000. And honestly, more than 5k, given that he refuses to replace the dead sod (see #'s 5-7). (3) He refused to give me an itemized list of costs. I still have not received one. (4) A sufficient amount of dirt was not brought in to level out the yard. And if I had not requested, zero dirt would have been brought in! (5) He went back on his word from a text message, "I like Bermuda and I get it for $155" (June 9, 2020, 3:16pm), and verbally, "I'll lay the sod at cost." On the final day, he said the sod was actually $250/pallet and he had decided to charge for the sod labor. (6) All the sod died in the front yard. It's been twelve weeks, and he has yet to replace it. (7) The majority of the sod died in the back yard. I recommended we use Zoysia, due to the shade. He laid Bermuda. It has since died. (8) He did not prep the ground before laying the sod. I actually worked 12 hours one day with his crew because I did not trust they were laying the sod properly. (9) Speaking of his crew, he had one hard worker, who absolutely worked his tail off. The others were nice, but, (let's be honest) lazy.

He and his crew worked morning to dark for an entire week prepping the yard for new sod, removing an old slate edged retaining wall and cutting down rows and rows of bamboo. The yard turned out beautiful! The sod has taken and even some spots he replaced in the front yard (for free) are growing as well. We never had an issue with payment as he charged exactly what the contract signed called for. I would absolutely recommend LDI for beautiful lawns.
