Years ago, in…read morethe pre-COVID era, The Leaf was the finest cigar restaurant in Pennsylvania and on par with any in the Northeast. Its food rivaled the best restaurants in the Lehigh Valley, and its cigar events were nothing short of epic--it was a place of undeniable class and sophistication. While there were a few times over the years when the pressure to lower the quality of the menu or service was disappointing, it never completely lost its appeal.COVID unfortunately drove many restaurants out of business. When The Leaf later brought in an outside barbecue vendor--whose name I won't mention--the establishment hit a new low. There are several excellent barbecue vendors in the Lehigh Valley, but this was certainly not one of them. However, after learning that the internal kitchen had finally reopened, I decided to give it another try.Upon arrival, my friend and I bought some cigars in the shop and expected to see signage for the evening's event. There was none. When I asked the shop staff about the event, they didn't even seem aware of it. We then wandered into the restaurant, which also lacked any signage. Fortunately, we were greeted by our waitress, Nicki C., who proved to be an absolute gem throughout the evening.The Famous brand cigars paired with the Four Roses bourbon were superb. We eventually moved outside to escape the trivia night, which was a bit too distracting for a conversation. For dinner, we both ordered the Sweet Bourbon Chicken sandwich, and it was excellent--the crusting was done to perfection. I also had the Truffle Parmesan fries, which were quite good.It is truly unfortunate that the event was not better promoted, resulting in a low turnout. I tipped heavily because Nicki absolutely deserved it; it is vital for a restaurant to remember that waitstaff can make or break the dining experience. I also asked to speak with Chef Corina Werkheiser to compliment her directly. Her execution and ingenuity with the menu were highly impressive. The Leaf's manager, Emily Stenger, also stopped by our table to gather our feedback, and I was deeply impressed by her frankness, positive attitude, and determination.I sincerely hope that the owner, Arthur, recognizes the two gems he has on his team and gives them his full support. While it will take significant effort for The Leaf to regain the elite status it once held, they can absolutely achieve greatness again if they continue down the quality-driven path that Stenger and Werkheiser have started.

They stock quite a few variety cases. If you're in the mood for more International they have a decent selection of Euro's but mostly German, Belgian and Polish beer. The cooler in the back is hit or miss with cold craft. Sometimes you'll find it fully stocked, but the variety can fall off from what's offered on their shelves. For a special treat they usually have some Bourbon County stout bottles or 120 minute IPA's from Dogfish Head. Your going to pay top dollar for them though. They also stock single 750 ml Belgians such as Delirium Tremens or Chimay. They sell snacks (chips, nuts, pickles, pretzels, beef jerky, candy) Adult slushies and some single assorted tall boy cans. Their walk in humidor is pretty impressive. They have cigars from most of the usual makers (Perdomo, Oliva, AJ Fernandez, Acid, CAO, My Father). Their prices are marked up a few dollars, but given the convenience and area, I'm not sure you're going to find a selection like theirs. They have a big selection of Padrón which I love. You can get most of the regular series, but also 1926 and Anniversary series. They have a buy 5 get the 6th free offer. The inside is clean and country-ish. The staff has always been nice and friendly to me. I think as far as one stop shopping goes you can't really beat the Beer Nuts. I'd go 3.5 stars for them.
