I've dealt with this law firm twice in three years. The same intake specialist questioned me both times over the phone, sometimes asking me in the interview what I thought were irrelevant questions while also conveying the impression of an authoritarian who would reject me instantly if I did not answer her questions with the requisite politeness and subservience she demanded since she balked palpably when I questioned her about the appropriateness of some of her questions. Based on her responses to my questions and the clinical way in which she asked her questions, I felt this intake specialist was going to reject my plea for help -- before the law firm had made any final determination. And on both occasions, it turned out that my intuition proved correct. On my second call to this law firm last month, the intake specialist asked in a decisively clinical and less-than-friendly manner, "What makes you call us back a second time after you had already been rejected by our firm the first time? Has anything significantly changed?" This same intake specialist, on both occasions, when it was decided the law firm would not take up my case and would not provide me with legal assistance, emailed me my rejection but gave me no reason whatsoever why my petition or inquiry was rejected. None, on either occasion. On both of my inquiries seeking legal help, I was seeking legal defense as a tenant from chronic noise nuisance by an upstairs neighbor my landlord enabled as a noise-maker and refused to warn. On both occasions, the one question the intake specialist asked me and that I had deemed totally irrelevant was: do I want to move out of my apartment? What had my desire (or no) to continue to live in my apartment have to do with seeking justice for my right to quiet enjoyment or the harassment and nuisance as a tenant I was receiving from my landlord? Without, as I've already stated, the law firm once ever stating its real reason for its decline to help me, it later became clear to me that this law firm, which pretends to represent tenants, only wants to help tenants who are willing to move out of their apartment since the firm is able to make a decent profit thereby and only with this particular strategy in mind. After the pandemic. I received three eviction notices from the former landlord after being a perfect tenant for over 10 years. I was disparate and hopeless not knowing what to do. I called and did an "intake" just asking me questions about management and situations (it was morning) Then said I will get a call in the evening to let me know if I have a case or not. Me: waiting and checking my phone. A week later NO answer. I finally called and the female that answered said she sent an email which I did not receive and let her know to send it. I came to the law offices of Tobener Ravenscroft several months ago when I was experiencing some rather overt and increasingly abusive mistreatments from the property owners of the home I shared with others in one of three non-certificated units. These horrible actions against me would be done to me not only the original owners of the dwelling I once lived at for ten years, but it would be a collective and concentrated collaborative, effort by the outgoing owners and the new owners in various tactics to persuade me to move out. Leading up to their joint conspiracy efforts to drive me out was a barrage of various children's- play disruptions by the then house managers( later to become owners ) that would just pop up whenever they felt they wanted to cause a disturbance, preaching and demanding one thing and then doing a completely different thing themselves. The number of contradictions, half truths, moments of over stepping their authority, delusions of false superiority and an unwavering propensity to be, uncompromising was only surpassed by their very distant relationship with the truth and the capacity to be unreasonable most of the time, not all, but most, and their inability to act and conduct their business with a sense of basic human decency was on display anytime, especially towards the last several months, would occur anytime they opened their mouth and sound would reverberate. Mr. Tobener and his colleagues assisting in my case would work diligently throughout the sometimes long and time consuming process as COVID's stronghold would always be playing a significant role in the background. It was sometimes stressful and overwhelming to have been through something like this but during a particular challenging period in our country made it all the more surreal. If you wish, during the mediation process and the presentation brief is being drafted, ask to have the defendants pay for your attorney fee's, it makes sense, but for their bad behavior, you wouldn't be there, right? Something I wish I thought of at my mediation. I thought that was an automatic occurrence, that the losing side would be responsible for those fee's, makes sense to me.
