The person on the call wasn't a lawyer and had no advice for me. They said that based on my situation, they'd set up an appointment with a lawyer. We scheduled that meeting, they requested a bunch of docs prior to the meeting, but on the day of the meeting they canceled with no explanation. I immediately emailed and called. No reply. After living in my rental for a very long time, the property owner/landlord decided to turn the property over to a property management company. The lease took all my rights as a tenant away. I wanted a lawyer to read the lease, tell me what my rights were and advise me. Lucia, in the front office, helped me greatly. She was there for me 100% walking me through the paperwork, getting the appointment set up and dealing with a cancellation and refund when I canceled the appointment because I thought the landlord was going to be fair to me. As it turned out, I had to reschedule the appointment when my landlord was not at all fair. I set up an hour consultation with Paul Collins. Paul read through all the documents before coming to the appointment. He was organized and prepared. Paul seemed to know all the ins and outs and what my rights were. Even though it wasn't what I wanted to hear, because he was so present and organized, the consultation with Paul took half an hour instead of an hour.Without asking or prompting, Paul only charged me for half an hour and reimbursed me for the money I paid ahead of time for an hour session. Paul could have dragged it on and milked it for the hour. But he did not. That gave me more confidence in him ethically. Though the way the lease was written gave me no rights as a tenant, the professional, polite, and fair way I was treated by both Lucia and Paul Collins prompted me to write a review which I rarely do. They know who I am. They contacted me after a bad Yelp review. Beware. More concerned with image than helping. As a lay person, filing is a daunting task. So, you want your lawyer to help? Or to use his "skills" to muddle serious and fact based accusations on social media? My voicemail and inbox were inundated with solicitations to pay for another consultation. I simply wanted to know which court to file in. If you're in a situation when you're in an uninhabitable housing, the last thing you want is your lawyer piling on to what is already a stressful situation. Thanks, Eric. Had a scheduled meeting with Eric T to resolve some issues he cancelled 2 hours before meeting with some BS reasoning that I filed a complaint against lawyer whom handled case which if you look at LinkedIn no longer works for TLG( curiousity makes we want to reach out to lawyer). Eric knew about complaint before even scheduling meeting. But when I said I needed transcripts during zoom meeting than I get notified 2 hours before meeting that it's cancelled lol Officially not only filing complaint against attorney whom handled case but Eric and tenant law group. Do not fall for the false words, advertising etc that TLG promote. Website states "At Tenant Law Group, we treat our clients with dignity and respect, and value the personal and professional development of everyone in our organization. Our core values include zealous advocacy, constant client communication, professionalism and civility among lawyers, respect for work-life balance, and technological innovation." Statement is a joke. Also I'm all about good faith and following laws duties etc I can't say same for TLG. I'm about sticking to contracts and documenting everything for reasons like this can't assume you can trust people/companies in what they advertise/ say Def make sure to document EVERYTHING with TLG requests transcripts during anytime of meeting as they don't permit zoom recording (very odd). If anything seems off go to state bar they are extremely helpful and will assign your case to people that really want to help. Also TLG constantly apologizes but nothing changes. I was looking for an attorney to potentially assist me with several issues at the property I reside at. I was asked to complete several redundant assessments, documents, and screenings prior to the attorneys even looking at my case. The information requested from this office was redundant because I already had everything that they requested in my personal case files. I politely asked if they could do a quick assessment of my case, and if they felt my case was strong, then I was more than happy to complete what was needed. They stated that the attorney wouldn't even look at my case until I did what was asked of me. The process as a whole was extremely time consuming. In the end, the attorneys refused my case. They expressed that my case is strong, but because my case was against such a huge corporation, that unless I had other witnesses, they wouldn't take on the case. I explained several times throughout corresponding with this office, that the tenants residing at my complex were too scared to come forward. Even after I disclosed this information several times, and after all of my time given to the requests of this organization, after they made me jump through several redundant hoops that ended up being unnecessary, they refused to represent me. I translated their denial, and their request for more witnesses, into this organization as wanting further financial gain. Trust me, save yourself some time by finding an attorney that will put you first as a client, and not make you jump through unnecessary and redundant hoops. read more

Only use TLG for demand letters and nothing else. Then again, save yourself $300 and go to the local law library and learn to write your own demand letters and save yourself the headache of dealing with a freshman law firm staffed by dilutants. Not to mention that I had a 1st landlord/tenant case that they said I would be represented on if the landlord decided not to pay in 2019. The landlord decided not to pay and now crickets. They convinced me that they were teh authority and that they were doing the right thing. No, they weren't and they don't know what they are doing. This is negligence and forget about complaining to the BAR as they are more inept than TLG. Tenant Law Group mismanaged our (3 other tenants) 2nd case and caused damages near $10,000 at this point of this post to include an emergency eviction, then immediately after saying, 'Oh we can't help you, there's a conflict of interest.'.........after 6 months of working on the case and after moving out with the promise for them to represent us..... Then they said I could not represent myself in court...only lawyers can. Another lie and I will prove this here in 2023 and I have all receipts and everything in black and white. There are many other complaints coming down the pipeline from the other tenants as well. Goodbye. You get 1 star because I can't rate you any lower. See you in court, TLG. Over at least 2 years ago I gave them 2 cases and they did not complete either one. I took all my documents pertaining to both and they lost some of my documents. I placed both files in folders with protective covers. I picked up my files. Documents were missing from both files and some of the protective covers were missing if I took the time to arrange both files nearly then why couldn't they be returned like that. 1) serious habitation,2) serious rotten issue, heating not working for over 3 years, passing out from inhaling rotten feces and urine. Most I go on. I have them all of the documents pertaining to these issues. On the second cases also habitation issues. 1) rotten, entrance in doorway,air conditioning, and walls. Rusty gate on front door, rotten behind refrigerator,etc. must I go on again(?). I ended up homeless. The landlord from the second apartment got angry ( first of all because I gave her a 30 day notice and the great is owner of the real estate company, who I will always be thankful for assisted me in my receiving my deposit back) so she gave me a 60-90 day notice to move out but she kept the place empty for 3 months after I moved out. You would think that because this law firm had to cases of mine that was definitely suitable for a lawsuit. They kept asking me for the same documents that I had provided them "in person". Mixing up file information from one file to another. I told them repeatedly that I was going to be homeless and that I had to concentrate on finding somewhere to live. They offered nothing!!!! I never saw them in person and they were downtown SF. Then, in 10/24, I received an email from rocket lawyer's from someone who did not say what company he was representing or the phone number. So, I emailed rocket lawyers and they said I had to phone the law firm he was representing. I called them because it could have been "a scam". I lived at the first place for 11 years and the other for 1yr and a half. There are so many slumlords and fake photos of places on the Internet. Be careful. Now, I have to represent myself. We had some issues with management avoiding disability accommodations, and declining moving a family member for 13 whole years in HUD housing!!! I finally reached out to this practice for some help to get my mother moved into a apartment not completely surrounded by smokers in senior housing and this is what it took. 4 months after saying they would take my case and circle back, they said they would not take my case. Learn from my mistakes, don't let the tenant law group waste your time. Here's my story. I engaged the Tenant Law Group on May 6th. It took them 4 months to finally circle back after repeatedly telling me I was in cue with their intake team and they would take my case, to tell me they would not be moving forward. I have a myriad of habitability and quiet enjoyment at my residence that are very well documented. According to their intake team estimated damages are over $10K. After hours on the phone, and months of back and forth via email and being reassured over and over and over and over and over again that someone from the intake team would get back to me I finally called to see what the heck was going on. 4 days later they gave me a list of resources and told me they would not be taking my case. That's 145 days. That's 21 weeks. That's almost 1/2 a year living in "Sub-optimal" conditions waiting on a lawyer who was never going to take my case to get back to me.
