They were supposed to trim a laurel hedge, but decided to only trim it as far up as they could reach without bothering to do the upper couple of feet. It is a horrible mess. They were supposed to re-gravel the driveway, but, brought such a fine-grade gravel that it was more dust than stones. I spoke about that and Sam Hill, the owner, said "It'll be fine once it rains." NO it's not. Most of the "gravel" blew away. It's a lumpy mess. I had also specified that I wanted the gravel to go all the way out to the edges of the current drive. I even said "I want it wide." Wasn't done. I complained and Sam said, "It looks like a nice, strip up the middle." He said if I wanted it out to the edges, he could write up another bid!!!! I had gone out the day before and weeded and made the edges of the drive very clear. These lazy people didn't even bother to move a trash can that was at the side: they just left it un-graveled. They didn't spread gravel over the entire area that is the turn-around either. You can see where they just put their gravel around in patches when they thought they could get away with leaving the old gravel. They cut a 50-year old lilac down to the ground for no reason at all. Apparently, Sam's parents own a nursery, so he "made it right" by putting 2 inch tall cuttings in its place. I objected because lilacs are very slow growing. Sam said "Oh, no...they grow really fast." NOT TRUE. I then went to a nursery and picked out a 4 foot tall lilac that would still not make up for the towering one that had been destroyed, but would be better than cuttings. Sam said he'd go get it. Well, he must have gone back to mom and dad again. They planted a one foot tall weakling that is now dead. I wanted them to plant something to mask my neighbors fence from view. I said something flowering, like a dogwood or cherry. I expected someone who calls himself a landscaper to know plants; to know what would grow in the space indicated. I babied that tree for months, but...it's now dead, too. So, thousands of dollars went for damage and ignorance and laziness and refusal to repair what they ruined. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE.

The work was much more than a mow and rake, we needed vegetation removed, or relocated, had a lot of in-ground concrete that had to go, etc. YDR completed everything asked of them. The only rub is that I could have used a little more communication as scope adjustments happened in relation to cost, but this is not unique to YDR, and there were certainly opportunities, in retrospect, where I could have begun or clarified those conversations. Overall I recommend YDR without hesitation.

Ethan called me back within an hour and brought a load of wood chips immediately. He could not have been nicer and more appreciative of the life and death of the dear little deer. In a total of 3 days, Reggie and his crew came and did, among so many other things, the following: -ivy removal -bamboo removal from root -select tree removal safety permitting -weed removal -bush and tree trimming and shaping When they finished the job, we were left amazed. Reggie and his team have gained my complete trust and confidence. Reggie is clearly experienced and has excellent judgment in terms of what needs to get done to achieve the look you're going for while addressing your concerns. For us, we were extremely focused on protecting our old growth trees so everything was done my hand to protect the root systems. We also wanted to maximize privacy and prep an area for more fencing--Reggie achieved both. He is extremely knowledgeable and gives advice any ISA arborist would as well. I hired these gentleman to remove some small, dead trees at risk of falling onto my driveway. I was…read morepretty clear during the pre-inspection as to my expectations and was quoted what I thought was a high price., but they told me they'd need special equipment. I accepted because they could be there quickly. On the day of service it was NOT the same person. They took down the trees (without any special equipment) that were overhead of the driveway but left leaning trees. When I inspected the work I pointed out other trees in the same bunch leaning toward the driveway. They wanted another $50 (cash) to take down the 4 trees I could see. After they were done there were still some trees leaning toward the driveway. I was out of cash and gave up. If you use these guys be sure you are clear on what they are going to do. They will want the specific number of trees you want removed.
